Posted November 21, 200619 yr Oasis and Westlife lead albums chart battle Source: MW The much-anticipated battle in this week’s album chart will be an unlikely two-horse race between Oasis and Westlife, according to early retail reports. Oasis’s Stop The Clocks (Big Brother) is currently beating all comers, but with only 1300 sales separating it and Westlife’s The Love Album (S), the eventual victor is unlikely to become clear until the weekend. Both albums sold in excess of 50,000 copies on release yesterday. The Beatles are poised to debut at three with Love (Apple), while U2’s U218 (Mercury) has a battle on its hands with George Michael’s 25 (Aegean/Sony) for the number four spot. In a Christmas market saturated with greatest hits packages, Westlife’s Love Album and Razorlight’s self-titled effort could be the only albums in the Top Ten containing new recordings this week. Away from the Top Ten, new albums from Foo Fighters (RCA), Fron Male Voice Choir (UCJ), Tom Waits (Anti) and Akon (Universal) will chart. In the singles market, Take That are in contention for their first number one in a decade with Patience (Polydor), while Emma Bunton’s Children In Need single Downtown (19) the probable number two. Singles from The Feeling (Island), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Warner Bros), Lemar (RCA/White Rabbit) and Pink (LaFace) are likely high risers after getting released physically yesterday, while Nelly Furtado (Geffen), Booty Luv (Ministry Of Sound) and Jet (Atlantic) are set to enter the chart. ================================================================ Singles 01 Take That - Patience 19k 02 Emma - Downtown 9k Top 15 Nelly Furtado - All Good Things [Download] Top 20 Feeling - Love It When You Call [Climber] Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh) [Climber] Top 25 Lemar - Someone Should Tell You [Climber Top 40 Pink - Nobody Knows [Climber] Booty Luv - Boogie 2 Nite [Download] Jet - Bring It On [New Entry] ============================================= Albums 01 Oasis 53k 02 Westlife 51.5k 03 The Beatles 31k 04 George Michael 05 U2 Top 10 Razorlight Top 20 Foo Fighters Fron Male Voice Choir Top 40 Tom Waits Akon Courtesy of Airboy^ at havenforum

November 21, 200619 yr My predictions: 1. Take That (4) 2. Justin Timberlake (2) 3. Akon (1) 4. Emma Bunton (24) 5. Westlife (3) Looks about right to me, except I'd swap Akon and Justin Timberlake around, and replace Westlife with Beyonce and that's how I think it will end up.
November 21, 200619 yr Author It's been reported in the paper the Beatles and Oasis are neck and neck. :o

November 21, 200619 yr Expected for Take That...it would be nice if they had mentioned sales though... Great for Emma Bunton's career...the only still successful Spice Girl
November 21, 200619 yr I'm actually surprised at how well Emma Bunton seems to have done by the look of that placing! I know she's quite well liked, but her version of that song is dull. Perhaps the charidee connection is what helped it, though it didn't help Liberty X. Good for her though, as I quite like Emma myself.
