November 21, 200619 yr I'm delighted Emma's great cover of 'Downtown' is doing so well although I fear it may drop and only just scrape top 5. I actually don't feel Emma's new album and new singles after this will flop and I think that both SCD and CIN will definately help her career and her to have a third successful album with more successful singles. Besides her fourth solo release 'We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight' which was the final single from her debut album 'A Girl Like Me', she has never actually had a flop single or album so he career has never been flagging. Well, A Girl Like Me sold badly enough to get her dropped, the sales of Free Me stank and 'Crickets Sing For Anamaria' hardly set the world alight. But I think Emma will stick at #2 until Sunday.
November 21, 200619 yr Author Chris Cornell who recorded the Bond theme for Casino Royale is #2 on downloads only, if there was a physical release this week it would have entered the chart in the top 10.

November 21, 200619 yr yay for emma, glad thats doing well. and she has actually never realy flopped she has moderate success all the time which is better than the other girls. simon webbe shhould not be allowed to sing lol yawn. yay for nelly furtado love that song. and yay for booty luv- boogie 2nite i fuc**n love it :D Buy Simons Album 'Grace.' You'll be suprised! Seriously he reaches some ranges you would not expect. Or listen to Jo whileys live lounge, his cover of the Killers 'When we were young' is awesome, this is directed at anyone not just you! ;) ----------------- Im rather pleased album and single are both top 20  ----------------- I like Emma Bunton but if it was not for CIN , I very much doubt she would be No.2, shame. Looks like the boyband lives on, rather suprised by Take Thats popularity still. I personally can't wait for 5ive.

But I think Emma will stick at #2 until Sunday. she didn't actually get dropped. She wanted to leave the label and join Simon Fuller at 19 where she is now. Free Me the single did quite well and the album did alright. 'Crickets Sing For Anamaria' admittably didn't do brilliantly however, it was the fourth single from the album and all the others got comfortable top 10 so top 16 really isn't that bad for a fourth single.
November 21, 200619 yr Well done Emma and big well done to Razorlight :) Think Lemar will climb because he is getting lots of airplay this week. Westlife above The Beatles... Never thought I'd expereince it Neither did I, but you have to give it to them, like it or not, they can shift albums.
November 21, 200619 yr Is Nelly Still at number 13 on the Midweeks? I think that's really good for her.
November 22, 200619 yr Is Nelly Still at number 13 on the Midweeks? I think that's really good for her. No new updates yet... so yeah
November 22, 200619 yr Because Nelly Furtado is downloads only. Watch her positions on the itunes chart. So far: Thursday 16th Nov -> #9 Sunday 19th Nov -> #5 Tuesday 21st Nov -> #5 Watch if she rises or burns out. I suspect if she holds iTunes #5 spot she will climb slow during the week in the overall chart, but then fall a little from others having big Saturday physical sales. http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/weekly/ If she progresses higher up the iTunes chart as the week continues then her position in the overall chart should reflect that also.

A Girl Like Me sold about 120k, and Free Me sold about the same, and Emma WAS dropped from Virgin, as were all of the solo Spice Girls. She's great and I really like her, but there's no chance in hell she has a large fanbase or anywhere near enough to make her a long lasting success. I predict Life In Mono will scrape Top40 and then drop like a stone, never to be seen again, and that's coming from an Emma fan. Oh and she's a dead cert for Top5, I think she's safe at #2 actually.

I dont think she did actually get dropped... quote from wikipedia During the beginning stages of work on her second album, Bunton felt she was better off at another label, and left Virgin. Not that wikipedia is reliable in any way
November 22, 200619 yr Bad news: Tesco's sales are supposedly missing from the mids which means Wasteoflife will actually be about 5-10k ahead of Oasis :manson:
November 22, 200619 yr Hmm I have all Emma's single sales and Kelly's right - despite What Took You So Long and the amazing song with Tin Tin Out none of her other releases have passed 100,000 in the UK - not even the lead single from her last album. Her voice imo is very weak and fluttery and she goes with this old retro style that not many people seem to be interested in. I could seriously guarentee that if this record wasn't for CIN it would probably scrape top 20 at most. Kelly's right - she doesn't have a large enough fanbase to make her a sucess - all of the Spices sold shedloads of singles back in early 00s when their solo careers were at a peak and sales were higher but apart from Melanie C's first albvum which sold close to a million and Geri's 'Schizophonic' sold quite well - when it comes to solo albums they're all a flop.
