ADELE - RUMOUR HAS IT [8.91]

UK T75 CHART RUN: N/A

Highest: ...ready for it, Scene, Infludexton*, WinterFreeze, Sharon 🍷 & Mack. 🐠 (10) + Nightcrawler (09)

Lowest: Hauspital* (06)

Finishing in the top 3 is a song that didn't go top 75, but peaked at #85. I'm not sure if this was actually ever a single or if it was just really popular. I think it got a US & Netherlands release, but no official UK release, I THINK (not 100% sure). It might have actually benefitted from being used in Glee's mashup with 'Someone Like You', which btw, is

! Honestly one of the top 5 Glee songs/the version I go to listen to over this original one lmao. As a song, it bops. But she has better on the album! Very 60's inspired, doo-wop pop. Tedder did gooooood!

Rumour Has It deserved to be a top 10. A real highlight in Adele's discography!

Omg a Jordin vs Leona top 2 finale. :cheeseblock:

What a top 2!

I think Bleeding Love will win but I am rooting for Battlefield!

Glad the Adele tracks aren't in the top 2 so we're left with a very strong duo.

Big fan of both but Battlefield for the win.

LEONA LEWIS - BLEEDING LOVE [9.07]

UK T75 CHART RUN: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-2-3-12-17-16-28-33-37-33-33-41-40-43-38-45-53-54-69-68->28 Weeks

Highest: WinterFreeze & Jordan Lee (11); ...ready for it, Scene, Jonjo, Cameron 🐠, Sharon 🍷 & Hauspital (10) + Dobbo (09)

Lowest: Mack. 🐠 (02)

In the runner's up position we have Leona Lewis' first single from her debut studio album. Bleeding Love was a monster debut for Leona (well, ignoring the coronation single - which ofc was huge for her too - set digital records at the time iirc?). It encompassed the huge 80's/90's power ballad that the likes of Celine & Whitney would release and smash with way back when, but felt very modern and contemporary. This was the song that put Tedder on the map as one of the biggest song writers and producers of our time. It was a #1 single all around the world, including the US! 'Bleeding Love' would hold the record for "longest run at number 1 for a female" in the UK, for a huge 12 years! That's right, it wasn't until recently where Tones & I managed to notch up 11 weeks and swipe the record away from Leona! WHAT a debut and WHAT a song to elevate Ryan's profile! Incredible. That 2 from Mack really hindered it!

JORDIN SPARKS - BATTLEFIELD [9.34]

UK T75 CHART RUN: 21-11-14-20-11-15-11-12-19-25-28-35-39-55-71->15 Weeks

Highest: Cameron 🐠 & Sharon 🍷 (11); ...ready for it, Dobbo, Jonjo, WinterFreeze & Mack. 🐠 (10); Infludexton* (09.5) + Jordan Lee (09)

Lowest: Nightcrawler (07)

There we have it, Jordin Sparks Battlefield has taken the victory in the Ryan Tedder rate! The song not only has a peak of #11 here in the UK, but it managed to get there on THREE separate occasions! HOW UNLUCKY WAS THAT!? UGH. It's second time at #11 was when it was clawing back from the effect of MJ's death iirc? (The week it hit #20 is the week MJ died </3) It was such an unlucky time for such a great song. Another storming modern, epic and contemporary pop power ballad from Mr. Tedder. I really wish this song would be utilised on a talent show or something, I think it could be a good boost for the track.

Thanks to everyone who participated and commented  It was fun revisiting his catalogue of hits and finding out that some songs were actually by the man himself!

She would've been #15 if not for MJ tracks that week!

A deserving winner although I am surprised it is the #1 I was fully expecting it to be Bleeding Love!! Thanks for hosting :)

Great winner and underrated hit. Thanks Jonjo for this. Ryan has a stellar back catalogue. :heart

An incredible top 2. I was rooting for Bleeding Love but Battlefield is also incredible.

Was that also a Leona reject? I seem to remember reading something saying she’d recorded a demo of it.

Battlefield really was robbed though. One week at #11 is bad enough but 3!!! iirc it was top ten a few times on the midweeks as well  it’s one of those songs what sounds like a massive #1. I really felt at the time it would propel Jordin Sparks into becoming really big here in the UK too but it wasn’t to be :(

Battlefields Top 40 run reminds me of Bebe Rexha's Meant To Be chart run a lot, seemingly stuck at #11 for ages despite getting the odd midweek projection within the Top 10

33-20-12-11-13-11-11-11-12-15-36-36->

Brilliant winner, not one I was into at the time but definitely a big underrated pop highlight of the decade looking back.

Thanks for running this one Jonjo, interesting set of results on the whole. Shame Calling was paid dust </3

It was actually a Rihanna reject! :o
