So I know they’re not entirely comparable, but Cher’s It’s a Man’s World reissue didn’t make the Top 200 in the UK and that was also a vinyl and CD. Cher’s vinyl was very expensive though, but the CD was mid price. Whereas Dannii is more than double the cost of Cher’s CD, but her vinyl is a third of Cher’s price.

I guess what I’m getting at is that with just 2 formats and without a cheap option, maybe I wouldn’t let your expectations be too high for the charts? Kylie’s Cherry Red reissues went low Top 100 (or just outside the Top 100) in an era when streaming wasn’t anywhere near as dominant as it is now.

Edit:

I just looked back on the chart when the Kylie reissues charted, and this is what they sold:

#85 - 921 - Kylie

#94 - 860 - Enjoy Yourself

#96 - 857 - Rhythm of Love

#106 - 797 - Let's Get to It

Of course this isn't the best of comparisons either for a few reasons: Kylie's albums had already been released on vinyl originally, the Cherry Red box sets were £60 each I think(?) and in 2015 vinyl hadn't quite yet had its big comeback. Whereas for Dannii it's a "first time on vinyl in the UK" moment.

However it's fair to say that 2015 was an easier time to chart with sales that low. Whereas last week's #179 album sold 1,100 copies.

It's pretty unpredictable really... but I don't think it's possible for Girl to come anywhere close to reaching a new peak. It would likely need to sell over 2,000 copies to do it... I don't see it.

^^ Agree sadly, its also geared very much to the core fanbase and collectors, it’s not like it was a huge album that casuals will be looking to snap up.

It needed at least a cassette release, I get why they haven’t just done a standard CD re-issue as we have had all that already.

The only thing that could give it a boost is if Dannii does some UK signings for the album but I’m not sure she is that invested in a re-issue of an album to make the trip to the UK.

The plus is that it has visibility outside of the Cherry Red website and is being stocked at indie stores with hopefully HMV and Amazon to follow which will certainly help with awareness.

Dannii will be in Aus unless the release date coincides with IKAG commitments.
It may or may not mean anything, but Dannii liked my comment when I said there should be a cassette and in store sign in for this.

The vinyl has appeared for sale on around 20 independent record store websites - disappointed that HMV and Amazon don’t seem to be onboard with the release but I guess it is very niche.

The vinyl is #19 on Amazons Vinyl chart and #100 on their overall chart! Decent :cheer:
Hope she goes to the UK and plugs this album a little.......it's amazing!

Love that we’re getting a NN UK signing now… would’ve been nice to have one for the ‘Girl’ release week though!
Ya she should have done held the signing now for the release of Girl and let people who bought neon nights bring it along with them so she could sign both.
Should have done this for both Girl and Neon Nights.................come on Dannii!

She must be over here for work in September.

Maybe a girl signing at a later date!
