I love Cheryl but a no to a Cheryl hits medley on this tour (it’s all about the Girls Aloud hits)!

Not just a Cheryl solo no but a no to any solo hits (they all did try the solo route at least).

I have a feeling this could be their biggest streaming year yet especially when the tour kicks off. It would be good to see some certifications though and a boost of sales for their catalogue.

NO Cheryl solo! If she wants to be the opening act then she can, otherwise the show it GIRLS ALOUD only! They have way too many amazing songs to put Cheryl's (weaker) solo stuff in there.

Here's some random information - Girls Aloud's peaks/weeks in the UK Download Singles chart!

The chart varied in size at different periods in time:

The Show actually pre-dates the official launch of the download chart (29th August 2004). However, as early as 20th June 2004, the OCC gathered together "test data" charts. The Show didn't enter the test data download chart until Sunday 11th July 2004, whereas in the singles chart it entered on 4th July (following its Monday 28th June 2004 release date). Either The Show wasn't legally available to download in the first week on sale, or it was but didn't sell enough downloads to make it into the Top 20.

Love Machine 14 weeks in Top 40. 22 weeks in Top 200.

I'll Stand by You - 8 weeks in Top 40 (7 in 2004/5, and 1 in 2021).

Wake Me Up - 5 weeks in Top 40. It was available to download from the 'What Will the Neighbours Say?' album in advance of its physical single release, and entered the download Top 40 a week earlier than it entered the official singles chart.

Long Hot Summer - 2 weeks in Top 40.

Biology - 8 weeks in Top 40 / 9 weeks in Top 100 / 15 weeks in Top 200.

See the Day - 5 weeks in Top 40 / 6 weeks in Top 200. It was available to download from the 'Chemistry' album two weeks earlier than its physical single release.

Whole Lotta History - 2 weeks in Top 40 / 4 weeks in Top 200.

Something Kinda Ooooh - 12 weeks in Top 40 / 18 weeks in Top 100 / 18 weeks in Top 200. It was made available to download 1 week earlier than the physical single release.

I Think We're Alone Now - 6 weeks in Top 40 / 11 weeks in Top 100 / 15 weeks in Top 200. It first entered the download chart in the week that 'The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits' was released.

Girls Aloud Megamix - 3 weeks in Top 100 / 5 weeks in Top 200.

Sound of the Underground - 1 week in Top 100 / 6 weeks in Top 200. Although it first entered the Download Top 200 on 5th November 2006 (the week of the release of 'The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits', it didn't make the Download Top 100 until 10th September 2021.

Walk This Way - 3 weeks in Top 40 / 6 weeks in Top 100.

Sexy! No No No... - 5 weeks in Top 40 / 14 weeks in Top 100. It was made available to download 3 days before the physical single release.

Call the Shots - 15 weeks in Top 40 / 25 weeks in Top 100. It was available to download from the 'Tangled Up' album one week earlier than its physical single release.

Theme to St. Trinian's - 2 weeks in Top 100.

Can't Speak French - 11 weeks in Top 40 / 25 weeks in Top 100.

10. Something New - 279K+

Thank you for posting! I wonder if they’re very recent totals?

Biology is now so close to overtaking I’ll Stand By You! :o

Really really happy to see something new in the top 10 and i hope it can overtake ill stand by you and biology, something new has definitely been one of their songs to benefit from the streaming era as its sales have thankfully climbed since its initial chart run. It is disappointing though that no good advice is not there.

^ Both Biology and Something New are on track to overtake I'll Stand By You, but within the last 5 years Biology overtook Something New, and I'd be surprised if Something New ever surges to the point of going back ahead of Biology.

We had a full sales update back in August 2019 (I can't believe it's approaching 5 years!). Here's a comparison of the sales from back then, and now. The order I've listed these songs in, is in the 2024 Top 10 best sellers order:

2019 (accurate sales) | 2024 (approx sales) | Increase (approx sales) -

800,338 | 1,100,000 | +299,650 - Sound Of The Underground

634,748 | 805,000 | +170,250 - The Promise

364,321 | 625,000 | +260,700 - Love Machine

389,409 | 488,000 | +98,600 - Call The Shots

327,322 | 472,000 | +144,700 - Jump

341,589 | 453,000 | +111,400 - Something Kinda Ooooh

242,253 | 304,000 | +61,750 - Can't Speak French

252,727 | 287,000 | +34,250 - I'll Stand By You

214,055 | 286,000 | +71,950 - Biology

216,405 | 279,000 | +62,600 - Something New

Predictions:

Change of Top 10 order

June 2024 - Biology overtakes I'll Stand By You (predicted sales for both: 288,000)

September 2025 - Something New overtakes I'll Stand By You (predicted sales for both: 297,000)

December 2025 - Jump overtakes Call the Shots (predicted sales for both: 522,000)

Sales milestones

500,000+ Call the Shots in November 2024

500,000+ Jump in April 2025

300,000+ Biology in April 2025

700,000+ Love Machine in September 2025

1,200,000+ Sound of the Underground in December 2025

300,000+ Something New in December 2025

300,000+ I'll Stand By You in January 2026

500,000+ Something Kinda Ooooh in May 2026

900,000+ The Promise in December 2026

It's a shame that No Good Advice hasn't managed to go Silver yet. It was on 178,000 in February 2022, but evidently has still not reached 200k, 2 years on. :(

Random: At the end of 2007, when Girls Aloud were 17 singles deep into their career, I'll Stand By You ranked as their 3rd best seller at that point. Their best sellers list from then is posted here.

Interesting to see the updated information for songs like I’ll stand by you biology and something new. Surely No good advice must be really close to silver.

Wish we would get updated totals for spice girls top 10 like this (would be all but headlines lol)

NEW GIRLS ALOUD CERTIFICATION!!!!!!!!

"No Good Advice" is now certified SILVER for selling 200k!!!!! :cheeseblock:

About f***ing time! :yahoo: :w00t:  :cheer:

It really is about time! :cheeseblock: Elated that No Good Advice is finally silver! And it did it on the date that I saw them live

Now we need Sexy to be certified! Potentially it's not too far away. In August 2019 its sales were 150,043, compared to No Good Advice being on 160,517 at that point.

This is in order of best selling to worst, of their 12 certified singles!

:plat: Platinum - Sound of the Underground (14.03.2003)

:plat: Platinum - The Promise (27.07.2018)

:plat: Platinum - Love Machine (15.09.2023)

:gold: Gold - Call the Shots (14.02.2020)

:gold: Gold - Jump (26.11.2021)

:gold: Gold - Something Kinda Ooooh (31.12.2021)

:silver: Silver - Can't Speak French (22.07.2013)

:silver: Silver - I'll Stand By You (14.05.2010)

:silver: Silver - Biology (22.06.2018)

:silver: Silver - Something New (09.02.2018)

:silver: Silver - The Loving Kind (17.12.2021)

:silver: Silver - No Good Advice (24.05.2024)

The date listed is when they were awarded the certification. 22.07.2013 is the date that certifications became automatic, before then the labels had to apply for them.

It's been a while since I did a post about estimated sales!

I think if I tried to explain my workings it would make the post too complicated, so I'll just share the figures I arrived at... and of course, please take them with a pinch of salt!

Estimates - not official sales:

187,300 - Sexy! No No No...

184,300 - Walk This Way

173,700 - Untouchable

154,400 - The Show

Predicted years of certifications:

2025 - Sexy! No No No...

2026 - Walk This Way

2028 - Untouchable

2030 - The Show

I hope I'm underestimating them though and that their sales over the last 6 months have bumped things up significantly. I could easily be a few thousand out; I could see Sexy being over 190k even. Manifesting it to go Silver this year! I think these four singles are the only ones with a real chance of going Silver in the not too distant future.

I Think We're Alone Now / Life Got Cold / Long Hot Summer / Wake Me Up / See the Day / Whole Lotta History... I think we're looking at very far into the future for these to certify. I guess either Long Hot Summer or I Think We're Alone Now would do it first but I would be very surprised if it's any earlier than the mid 2030s. Let's say I'm in no hurry to fast forward to when Whole Lotta History could go Silver. :arrr: I think the only single which is probably unlikely to ever do it in any of our lifetimes is Beautiful Cause You Love Me. :kink:

As for their singles which are already certified, I feel confident that Jump, Call the Shots and Something Kinda Ooooh will go Platinum within the 2020s decade, as well as Sound of the Underground going 2xPlatinum.

NEW GIRLS ALOUD CERTIFICATION!!!!

"Sexy! No No No..." is now certified SILVER in the UK!!!! :cheeseblock:

Yes!!!! :cheer:

‘Tangled Up’ becomes their first album to have all singles certified!

It works out as a weekly average of 194 chart sales since August 2019, compared to 'No Good Advice' which averaged 157 to the point of its certification in May. I would have thought 'No Good Advice' was on higher sales out of the two!

:cheeseblock: That’s incredible news! :cheer: It was such a nice surprise to see it listed in the certifications update!

I’m very glad that the reunion/the tour helped both No Good Advice and Sexy! No No No…reach Silver a lot sooner than anticipated. Their older sales totals made it seem like it would take them a lot longer. I would be so interested to know what their weekly sales have been in recent weeks.

It makes me wonder if Untouchable could be a lot closer to 200k than I thought!
