Brighton next four matches are massive as they have Aston Villa (H), Bournemouth (A), West Ham (A) and Watford (H). They’ve got all the teams in the relegation battle within four games. I still hope Brighton go down but they’ve been playing decent enough football under Potter but in those four game, I’m expecting them to get seven points, anything less than five then they’re in massive trouble.

I'd like to think Bournemouth will turn it around like they've done in the past. I just don't know how much longer they can keep that going.
I hope (and think) Brighton will stay up, and I'd like Villa to stay up too. Watford, Burnley, Bournemouth - had their time now, get rid. West Ham or Newcastle - funny.
I can see Newcastle crumbling shortly too

I thought they might be on the brink but that was a massive result for them today.

Chelsea, Spurs & Arsenal (+ Sheff Utd!) all dropping points. As if we needed any more incentive to pull off a miracle result tomorrow. Form always tends to go out of the window when United play Liverpool so it's not as straightforward as some people seem to making out...

Who was that commentator covering the Southampton v Wolves match on Match of the Day just?

Mark Scott.

Yeah when you were good we beat you with some absolutely shite sides. I could easily see it happening. Don't think it will, but these games are a funny old thing.

Bournemouth and Eddie Howe really look in the mire at the moment. As I said last week this the best testing point in Eddie Howe's reign as Bournemouth manager. Wilson and Solanke they look defeated. The whole team looks deflected yes they have injuries but their second 11 is weak. 8 shots on target and 0 goals in their last 4 Premier League games. What was Cook doing for that red card for that handball.

Tough times for Bournemouth at the moment, they've become part of the furniture in the Premier League now but it's looking like they'll be going down unless they buck up their ideas.

A stat for you all:

Guardiola became the fifth manager to take charge of Manchester City in the Premier League on his birthday, with all five failing to win (also Brian Horton in 1995, Joe Royle in 2001, Mark Hughes in 2009 and Roberto Mancini in 2010 and 2011).

Another inconsistent performance there from Chelsea against a mid-table side in Newcastle United.

Looks like that 4th place is up for grabs for whoever wants it.

It'll be between united/Chelsea/Sheff United/Wolves.

After the first 15 mins of the second half thought United woulda got something there

Always the case when it’s 1-0. They played quite well for a 20 minute period when they made the changes and we took Ox off.

Don’t let anyone kid you that Man Utd were any good though, they were atrocious. Game could have easily been about 7-1, typical de Gea starts to show form against us again!

I laugh whenever I hear people call the Premier League "the best league in the world" , the league is a shadow of how it used to be. Years ago teams lower in the table could beat the table toppers or those in contention for the title or could at the very least draw with them and this would happen on quite a regular occurrence. Nowadays you just know before a ball is kicked that it's not going to happen. As each season goes by it's becoming less and less competitive. For the past 3 years it's been one team running away with it from before Christmas (or 2 in the case of last season).

It's ridiculous that a team winning the league finishes on or near 100 points every season and leadership of the league barely changes hands these days unlike years ago when several teams would take turns being at the top of the table. There are no twists and turns in this league anymore, it's like watching a movie and seeing the conclusion of the film at the very beginning instead of following the storyline with all the twists, turns and suspense before getting to the conclusion. The league as a whole is the weakest I've ever seen it as and all of the other teams behind (including Man United) have themselves to blame. It feels more like Power League rather than Premier League at the moment!

The title race is completely over and has been for a while but looking at the rest of the league I'd say it's still fairly interesting. All sorts of unexpected results have been going on with the other sides, that's how Liverpool have ended up with such a big lead in the first place. The rest of the top five is still to play for, and it's anyone's guess who gets relegated - the gap between 1st and 2nd is 16 points now but only 12 points separate 5th from 18th!

I don't think we played badly at all. Let's not kid ourselves here, the gulf in class is astronomic at the moment. I was amazed we managed to fashion as many chances as we did. Those were BIG misses from Pereira & Martial. Agreed Pool should have been 3 up by then, but they weren't so that's invalid. The real sad news story of the day is the Rashford injury :( bet Southgate's shitting himself now - gonna have to get Jamie out of retirement!

I also don't necessarily agree the Prem is losing its tag as the most exciting league in the world. With the other big 5 Euro leagues, it's LITERALLY THE SAME TEAM winning every year in 3 of them and in La Liga it's only ever 1 of 3. We now will have had 5 different winners in the past 8 seasons in the Prem. Just because the last couple of seasons have individually been less interesting, when you look at the league in its outset you can still never call the Prem. Like who could have predicted City would have put up such a shite defence this year?
