Hello everyone :cool: Jay's given me the green light to post this!

 

Last year's Spice Rate gave me a long overdue schooling on solo Spice, and I really clicked with so many Melanie C tracks in particular. I've been revisiting them regularly and I've come up with a ranking of all 35, from When You're Gone right through to Blame It On Me.

 

You can expect results that, going by posts I've seen in this forum, WILL be controversial! :lol: Bear in mind that ultimately NONE of these carry any nostalgia value to me, so I'm pretty much ranking a group of songs I've known for less than a year, with few exceptions...! (I think I was only really familiar with I Turn to You, Loving You, Anymore and Dear Life before the rate, plus I kinda knew When You're Gone from the radio!)

 

Feel free to disagree with me along the way, I'm sure you all will, but let's make this into a fun discussion reliving some brilliant (and a couple of not so brilliant) tracks! Before I post last place, do we have any hopes for success and even hopes for failure? :o

1) You clicked with so many Melanie C ones... you have brilliant taste already :wub:

 

2) I love the picture you've created especially :D

 

3) I love your Harry Styles sig - Harry is definitely the Melanie of the group (possibly Harry and Niall actually) :wub:

 

4) That better just be the songs you've ranked and not the order because Cool and you and Cosmic shower are... oh god... I can't :puke2:

Just an fyi as well, this is simply my ranking of favourites - I'm not ranking based on which songs are technically the best, I'm ranking based on those I enjoy the most!! I think my actual #1 would change if I tried to be objective :lol:

I'll be honest they are the only 1D members I like, and actually I prefer them solo to being in the band as I was never a fan of 1D... although I do love Story of my life and really like What makes you beautiful, One thing and Little things :wub:

I know this was for charity, so I shouldn't really be TOO harsh on it, but this really is a very comfortable last. I heard the track once a few years ago - Jay sent it to me just to hear how terrible it was :kink: and he was right - Melanie usually sounds brilliant, but I really don't think she does on this. It surprised me when I relistened earlier (only for its second ever play :lol:) that she almost sounded out of tune? It's not a song I'll return to anyway so it deserves its last place finish.

I agree with you that she sounds like she's out of tune, but I can't tell if that's because the production is really bad and her voice isn't meshing with it?
