"Before The Goodbye" is awesome. I wish Brian Transeau (BT) did more tracks with Britney though. Like I said regarding "I Run Away", the fact that this didn't make the standard version is a blasphemy.

I love, love, L O V E this! There's something very Eurovision and European about this! I wouldn't have been mad that this was a single either. So wholesome. THE 2nd CHORUS *.*

'What It's Like To Be Me' is a bop, had no idea Justin was on it but is so obvious upon re-listening! Would've probably been a hit had he had an official credit etc.

This is such a gorgeous closer!

I forgot just how much I love it! That instrumental outro... LUSH!

NOW can people see why this is considered to be her most underrated album? :cheeseblock:

What a KILLER album - I genuinely *love* that entire top 13 :deadbanana: and... it gets better as 'In The Zone' is my favourite Brit album, can't wait

Thanks for the session again

This re-listening has solidified that 'Britney' is my favourite Brit album after 'Blackout' Ugh, there is so very little filler and so much killer. Such a shame about the single choices oops.

That was a great listening because Britney brings me back to a lot of memories. Thanks for the session Jonjo!

Also, I think this is one of the few albums where the bonus tracks ("When I Found You", "I Run Away" and "Before The Goodbye") are superior to the songs which made the final tracklisting.

I think this is her second best album. It sort of helps that the singles aren't HUGE favourites because they don't overshadow the incredible album tracks. It all flows brilliantly and there are expert moments throughout. A truly great pop album

Thank you to everyone who made it!

I love re-reading the threads in the middle of the week and seeing all your reactions properly! It's amazing.

'In The Zone' is definitely next week! Might stick with a 7pm start again, but it depends on whether we have a BJSC listening sesh clash again. If no listening session, it'll be 8.30pm!

'In The Zone' is definitely next week!
Please, include this version of the album. I don't think "The Answer" and "Don't Hang Up" are georestricted, so... the more Britney to listen to. :P

That's DEFINITELY going to be the version! :D

'Blackout' and 'Circus' will be EXTENDED sessions.

I'm gonna do whatever we have on Spotify for those and then do the bonus tracks through the Youtube links that we also use!

I'd forgotten how I Run Away goes before this listen, which is possibly not a good sign! I know I would have heard it a fair bit back in 2002 though, with it being a B Side on I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman. It's a very nice track, but I don't find it essential or sorely missing from the standard album. The switch up in production in the middle is an interesting moment though. Maybe I need more time with it , I see some of you are big fans!

What It's Like to Be Me is another great one. A great contribution from Justin. This album is sooo strong!

Not sure when I would have heard Before the Goodbye for the first time, because my CD of the album from 2001 didn't include this track! I may have not heard it until many years later. I like it, that chorus sticks in my mind!

Such a strong album. A step up from her previous two.

I think I'm Not a Girl... ended up so high on my rank mainly for sentimental reasons. Objectively there's some better, catchier songs directly below it in my list. However I loved it so, so much when it was her current single, and I still find it lovely to listen to.

On the other hand, somehow memories of Crossroads and being a single wasn't enough to be able to place I Love Rock 'N' Roll over anything else from the album. I still like it though!

I'm kind of surprised Boys ended up pretty low down for me :o

Enjoyed that! Thanks again, Jonjo, and to everyone else who took part :cheer:

Fun fact: at HMV we do "Staff Picks" where we order in CD's and DVD's and basically put them in store to recommend to customers... this was one of my first picks, mainly coz I wanted the album in store so I could play it when I was on shift!

We sold a few copies I believe! *.*
