August 12, 20204 yr Is there any news on the UK release? I imagine it'll go to Prime as most Hulu shows seem to go there?
February 20, 20214 yr This is getting heavy advertisement as a part of Disney+ add-on... Star. It's going to finally be available for the UK market through that service. Disney+ have been advertising it a fair bit and even included a kiss from the show as their closing shot in their main advertisement for it. If you know Disney and their audience... that is a huge deal. The advert (well for me at least) gets played every 3 adverts or so during YT videos. I'm excited that we're actually getting it as I haven't got around to it yet, so I'll hold off until Star. The movie is one of my favourite, feel-good mood lifter movies.
February 27, 20214 yr So... Disney+ only put the first two episodes on!! FFS! Loved both episodes a lot! Just as charming as the movie!
February 27, 20214 yr It seems they're doing it weekly for some reason?! I think I'll wait til all episodes are out there
February 27, 20214 yr I don't get why they're doing that with a show that's already out there to view anyway? Ridiculous! :arrr:
February 27, 20214 yr Their logic will probably be that they can't have too much gay on the platform all at once
April 2, 20214 yr Does this series work without seeing the film? (which I absolutely will do at some point!)
April 2, 20214 yr It'd work but it'd spoil the ending of the film for you, so I'd highly recommend the film before the series!
April 2, 20214 yr Does this series work without seeing the film? (which I absolutely will do at some point!) I'd say so! Without spoiling anything, there are appearances from a few of the Love, Simon characters but they don't emphasise the fact that they're from the film. The show holds itself up very well and doesn't rely on the film to tell the story at all.
April 17, 20214 yr Finished the last episode just now... great stuff! I think both Michael Cimino & Rachel Hilson are fantastic. So, SO good! Just an important entertainment universe in general. I feel like they should sort of do what they do with The Crown and rotate the cast every couple of series and focus on different parts of the LGBTQ+. So in line with the film which is what makes it. Excellent stuff.
April 17, 20214 yr Really loved this, so cute and so well done! My favourite characters were Mia, who got done SO dirty, Lake, the sister and Felix. I really didn't care for Victor too much but I like that his character was flawed but he got away with far too much and seemed to be quite unforgiving at times.
April 18, 20214 yr I really don’t like his sister and Benji as a love interest is so dull to me- give him someone new please
April 19, 20214 yr I found this show unbearable... I might give it another go as I watched one or 2 episodes.
April 20, 20214 yr just the narrative i suppose... for me it was a sweet movie notion but to drag it out for an entire series is a bit of a yawn fest... would be more interesting for me if the coming out was done in an episode and the repercussions of his sexuality were the basis of the series...
April 20, 20214 yr just the narrative i suppose... for me it was a sweet movie notion but to drag it out for an entire series is a bit of a yawn fest... would be more interesting for me if the coming out was done in an episode and the repercussions of his sexuality were the basis of the series... That... is literally what happened at the end of season 1 though, and presumably will be a major part of season 2? I think it's important they established all of the characters first, and had that period where Victor wasn't yet out otherwise it seems like half a story? We finally get some good LGBTQ+ representation and it's scoffed at?
April 21, 20214 yr but thats my point... it's an entire series. Character development is created in one episode. I already know, having watched one episode, his family are homophobic and will struggle with the coming out. Good LGBT+ representation is a story arc that doesn't revolve around a character coming out... good LGBT+ representation for me would be Pose, It's A Sin or even character like David from Schitts Creek where their sexuality is just there... it's not the driving force of the narrative.
