27. Taki Taki (w/ DJ Snake, Ozuna & Cardi B)
Average: 6.62

Báilame como si fuera la última vez: JosephStyles, Liam, ...ready for it (9) Andrew., Josh!, Tombo, UltraBeKind, Wall (8)
You hoes got no class, you bitches is broke: Tawdry Hepburn (0) Jade (4)

'Taki Taki' was a single with DJ Snake as lead, featuring Ozuna and of course Cardi as well as Selena. Although it may have undersold expectations a tad here and maybe in America where it missed top 10 (considering this was at Cardi's PEAK tho she'll be more of an Iggy than a Nicki imo) the impact this had in Latin America was colossal, getting to #1 in 15 countries and becoming Selena's second song to reach 1 billion on Youtube (We Don't Talk Anymore being the first, when will this girl get a solo one) and first on Spotify.

I get the grating criticisms this gets and I go through long phases where I don't listen, but when I do it's irresistible. Even Cardi's haters have to admit she delivers in her verse and Selena sounds so sensual, I'm straight :deadbanana:

Two more results coming at 11pm then that's it for tonight :D

26. Past Life (w/ Trevor Daniel)
Average: 6.81

Perfect, perfect timing: JosephStyles (10) Andrew. (9)
You can never figure me out: blacksquare, Nina West (4) George.keh, Wall (5)

'Past Life' is the newest song in the rate and probably shows its newness in a bottom 10 placing. Past Life is the follow up to UK #12 smash Falling and is already making progress in America, we can only hope it follows through here *.*

I can't get enough of this atm, Selena lowkey sounds better than on any 'Rare' song  Not that she sounds bad on them lmao I always love her voice, but you can tell she feels the music here. A respectable showing for SUCH a new song, I think if we'd run this in a few months time it'd be top 15 for sure.

Final result tonight: The first single from a Selena solo album to drop out, what will it be? :o

25. Boyfriend
Average: 6.88

Not feeling anti you and me: George.keh, Tombo (10) Andrew. (9.5)
Just keep hitting dead ends: Bjork (3) Dexton (4)

No single cover (2020 :drama:) so if you've never seen the video enjoy :sarah: 'Boyfriend' was the single from the four new tracks on the deluxe version of 'Rare' and it's performance showed it should've just been on the original album, as it missed top 40 in virtually every major territory. Was it on Hot Hits/Radio One here? I seem to remember the latter vaguely. It becomes the first single from Stars Dance, Revival or Rare to drop out and is also the last song to average below 7, which is normally my barometer for 'good' so BuzzJack bops only from now on I guess aha.

I want a boyfriend, but I just keep hitting dead ends :jump: :jump: This (as well as the re-release of Rare) has felt like a bit of a non-event so I'm not shocked at this finishing low, but the bass in this is soooo addictive ugh. It's Selena at her best and an absolute bop, shame on y'all.

Another 6 coming tomorrow x
I really loved Boyfriend. The video was also one of my favourites from her. It’s classic-Selena production wise, delivery-wise and lyric-wise

Boyfriend is another bad Julia Michaels song

on the other hand, the song with Trevor Daniel is very ood and deserved better, guess people just listened once :)

'Boyfriend' was better than most of the songs I've heard from the standard edition of 'Rare', not really sure why it didn't make more impact to be honest, kind of just felt like it came and went with almost no fanfare.

'Past Life' is fairly gd too x

Yeah Past Life could even be a top 10 contender in a year's time, it was pretty close!

Next group of two coming at 5pm *.*

24. Round & Round
Average: 7.03

I'm falling hard for you: George.keh (9.5) Andrew., Josh (9)
And then I watch them drop: blacksquare, Wall (4) Bjork (5)

The majority of The Scene singles and every Scene lead single now out, as 'Round & Round' brings the average up to a 7. Round & Round is the early 10's dance/electro-pop that was ubiquitous (fave word) in Selena's early career, and it's catchiness showed in it becoming the band's highest peaking song at the time on the Hot 100 at #24.

I'm a sucker for 2009-2013 style dance pop and this is NOT an exception, the chorus is catchy as anything and its got one of my favourite vocals from Selena before she embraced whisper pop. I'd maybe have this a lil higher but I only gave 12 songs less than a 9 so not that much oop.

23. Me & The Rhythm
Average: 7.03 (more 10's)

You're the spark: George.keh, Liam (10) Andrew., UltraBeKind (9)
Oh no, oh no, oh no: Wall (-1) Bjork, Tombo (5)

Poor brave 'Me & The Rhythm' getting a random -1  It was released as the only promo single from Revival a week before the album. It didn't make the charts in the UK or US but was #57 in Canada and #6 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, so smash. Feel Me is the last non-actual single standing, of course *.*

Love this so much, not on a par with the other Revival singles but damn close  The nu-wavey sound in the verses is fire, and the chorus is pop perfection. This is the definition of a promo single imo, it wouldn't have worked as a full one although over here idk if it would've done any worse than Same Old Love. A respectable showing.

22. Hit The Lights
Average: 7.05

It's a perfect world: Tombo (10) Andrew., JosephStyles, Liam (9)
You totally screwed up: blacksquare (3) George.keh (4)

Three songs remain from the Scene! You may be waiting a wee while for the next one out :eyes: 'Hit The Lights' was the final single ever released by the group and commercially they didn't go out on a high as it was their only single to miss the Hot 100 entirely. The song is about letting yourself go and living for the moment, a common theme in Selena's early tracks.

Another slice of dance-pop goodness *.* This is quite a fitting single to end The Scene on I think, it's a nice sum up of their sound.

21. Feel Me
Average: 7.12

No one love you like I love you: Andrew., George.keh, UltraBeKind (10) ...ready for it, Tombo (9)
You'll always be alone: Bjork (3) blacksquare, Tawdry Hepburn (4)

'Feel Me' was originally recorded in 2016, for a new album or standalone single I'm not sure although I can't imagine it alongside Bad Liar and Fetish on a record lmao. Selena performed it during the Revival Tour (my date was cancelled :() but as a rebased single it never saw the light of day until February this year, where it became a promo single from the deluxe of Rare. Upon release, it charted at the lower ends of the top 100 in the UK and US.

 This is in my top 5 Selena it's GORGEOUS. Selena sounds so vulnerable on the song which compliments the light house production, the blend of Vox and instrumentals :deadbanana: I wanted this to do better but it was only a promo single so I can't complain I guess! In 2016/17 this would've smashed.

Two more coming later tonight :magic:

20. Back To You
Average: 7.29

You could break my heart in two: Tombo, UltraBeKind (10) Josh! (9.5)
We never got it right: Bré (3) blacksquare, Jade, ...ready for it (5)

Scraping the top 20 is 'Back To You', from the 13 Reasons Why (which Selena produces, multi-talented legend) soundtrack. I feel like I'm the only person my age who's never seen that show at all, it'd probably terrify me  Back To You established itself as a hit pretty sharply, debuting in the UK top 40 and eventually peaking at #13. It actually made the top 10 in most countries and the year-end lists where it didn't here so it maybe should've done a teensy bit better.

While I've never seen the show, I am grateful to it for giving us this :gaga: The actual drop isn't especially anything you haven't seen before but the production mixes the guitar-based verses with the chorus amazingly, producing a fireside anthem *.* This placed about where I expected tbh.

Last result of the night coming up!
