July 18, 20205 yr Switch 'Bad Liar' and 'It Ain't Me' for both 'We Don't Talk Anymore' and 'A Year Without Rain' and that top 10 would be FIRE! 'Hands To Myself' ftw! But I suspect it'll be one of 'Good For You', 'Lose You To Love Me', 'Naturally' or 'Come & Get It' (but the sooner C&GI falls out the better! Very good song, but a bit overrated!) My heart wants what it wa-w-w-wants 01. Hands To Myself 02. Good For You 03. Naturally 04. Lose You To Love Me 05. The Heart Want What It Wants 06. Look At Her Now 07. Come & Get It 08. Love You Like A Love Song > I underrated this in my rate. < 09. It Ain't Me 10. Bad Liar Predict: 01. Good For You 02. Lose You To Love Me 03. Come & Get It 04. Naturally 05. Hands To Myself 06. The Heart Wants What It Wants 07. It Ain't Me 08. Bad Liar 09. Love You Like A Love Song 10. Look At Her Now That's really hard to predict, actually. I wouldn't be surprised at any of the top 4 winning. I can see It Ain't Me not winning particularly, but ending up top 5 somewhere, too!
July 18, 20205 yr That moment when 'mm mm mm mm mm mm' is deemed a discography top 10 by BuzzJack :frankie:
July 18, 20205 yr too bad for Fetish, it's one of her best imo, should have been top 10 for sure, even top 3 million times better than mmm mmm mmm mmm :)
July 18, 20205 yr Missed the voting for this 😭 but I’m hoping Good For You wins. One of my favourite songs of the last ten years and one that I don’t think she’ll ever top. Fetish came close though, that’s my second favourite so a shame that just missed the top 10.
July 21, 20204 yr Author Forget I said any of those things 10. Bad Liar Average: 7.86 Your touch like a happy pill: Tombo (11) blacksquare, Liam, Riser, UltraBeKind (10) Tryin' tryin' tryin' not to think about you: Bré (2) ...ready for it (3) I had to go outside and calm down seeing this get beaten by Look At Her Now on the spreadsheet 'Bad Liar' was released in May 2017 to universal acclaim, featuring on 16 year-end 'best song' lists. It's quirky sound was a natural progression for Selegend after Revival, and this was presumably intended to lead that album's follow up. Sadly the reason that ended up...not happening was perhaps the slight underperformance of the song, 'only' reaching #20 on the Hot 100 when her two lead singles prior had gone top 10 and getting #21 in the UK. Tbh this deffo stalled her progress here as after Revival she was in such a good place (no one really cared her here before that era lmao). Too ahead of it's time for some people! I remember the release so well, I was on the bus back from Holland and vaguely remember being somewhere in England and trying to play this but being without 3/4G :drama: Having to be in England and having no internet, literally a nightmare! (jk Englanders on here x) (not joking tbh) When I did manage to listen it took me a while, I was 'what the f***' but in the end it was love. The quirkiness and irreverence of this song is something I need more of from Selena, imagine an album of this and Fetish. Ugh. Adore
July 21, 20204 yr Author 9. Look At Her Now Average: 7.86 (more 10's) Wow, look at her now: Nick F1 (11) Jay*, Josh!, Nina West, ...ready for it, Tombo (10) Trust levels went way down: Bré (-1) Jade (3) I wasn't sure if this was an actual single or a promo single, given it was out like a day after smash hit LYTLM but according to Wikipedia it was so fairs  As I said 'Look At Her Now' was released just after LYTLM and she performed both the songs together at the AMAs. It's a minimal dance bop song where Selena sings in the third person (I think lol) about finding herself and progressing in life. Look did fairly respectably on worldwide charts, reaching the lower end of the top 30 in the US, UK and Aus. I don't think this would've been a smash even if Lose You hadn't been there to overshadow it though. This beating Bad Liar, FETISH, Slow Down, Same Old Love, Feel Me...almost every song in the top 30  I can't believe it got a -1 and still made the top 10, it would've came 7th with 8.30 without that. Don't get me wrong I gave it a 7, it's a nice refreshing bop and Selena sounds gorgeous in the verses but it's not an 8+ track for me as it doesn't go to where it could do if that makes sense, for a dance-pop bop it's TOO minimalist and slight. I bop now and then but it's not a fave on the album or in her wider singles. Y'all seem to love it though so well done, it's top 10 :nocheers: Three more coming tonight, the next one I'm typing now x
July 21, 20204 yr Author 8. It Ain't Me (w/ Kygo) Average: 7.93 Nowhere's high enough: Wall (11) Andrew., Dexton, Jay*, JosephStyles, Liam, Tombo, UltraBeKind (10) Stopped seeing eye to eye: Brè (1) Tawdry Hepburn (2) Selena worked with Kygo on 'It Ain't Me' (needs to happen again asap :cheeseblock: Although I can't imagine her on any of his recent singles, the ones I know at least) which is a 2017 style tropical pop bop and it smashed. It went top 10 almost everywhere, only just in America interestingly and was the #25 biggest song of 2017 in the UK. That's higher than Fetish's peak WEEKLY position :'( Not that I'm complaining at the success of this. It's her biggest overall SPS song in the UK and I presume his second? It become Selena's first song to debut top 10 here since 'Come & Get It', only bops allowed! I wasn't that enamoured with this initially, god knows why but it's so catchy that you can't help but let it get in your head, and then I got hooked *.* Worthy of a place here for sure.
July 21, 20204 yr Author 7. Come & Get It Average: 8.02 I love you much, too much to hide you: Andrew., Cameron, JosephStyles, Josh!, UltraBeKind (10) Jay*, Liam, ...ready for it, Tawdry Hepburn, Wall (9) This love will be the death of me: Brè (0) blacksquare (6) Finally taking us into the 8's average after 17 songs in the 7's, 'Come & Get It' is the 7th placer. Come & Get It was Selena's first solo single (it's hard to believe she was ever in a band now ) and kinda acted as a relaunch of her career from the more innocent sound with The Scene. Reminding myself of the cover and video, I'm surprised this didn't get more of a cultural appropriation backlash oop. Commercially it set Selena up well for Stars Dance, hitting the top 10 in the US and the UK, she hadn't even had a top 40 single from the last two Scene albums somehow so WD. It didn't have the most staying power after its top 10 debut here but it's her biggest song on paid-for sales and should go Gold in the not-too far future. This is ridiculously catchy, idk why Stars Dance didn't do that well anywhere as it is a WAY to re/launch an artist! This has always been fairly well liked on here iirc so it placed about where I expected. I miss this kind of pop :( One last result coming tonight...what will it be :o
July 21, 20204 yr Sis didn't she have a kidney transplant during the Bad Liar/Fetish saga as well as lupus setbacks following that
July 21, 20204 yr Author Sis didn't she have a kidney transplant during the Bad Liar/Fetish saga as well as lupus setbacks following that Yes I am aware x I was talking more about the album not really sounding like those songs not her lack of solo releases.
July 21, 20204 yr Author 6. Love You Like A Love Song Average: 8.68 Like a dream come alive: Andrew., Dexton, George.keh, Josh!, Liam, Nick F1, Nina West, Tombo, UltraBeKind (10) JosephStyles (9) You stand alone: blacksquare, ...ready for it (6) Bjork, Jonjo (7) One Scene song is left standing, 'Love You Like A Love Song' is out! Can we talk about the fact this peaked at FIFTY-EIGHT in the UK, the second lowest Scene single that charted? :mason: Luckily America's ears were working where it became a sleeper hit, reaching #22 nine months after release in March 2012 and going 4x platinum  If only their ears could make like that during Tr*mp speeches. I never realised this got a massive backlash from PETA for having painted horses in the provisional video :') As with most her early singles this wasn't really a hit outside of North America but I'd like to think it's one of her best remembered singles pre-going solo? This is the only song with Scene I'd have in the top 10, Naturally didn't deserve :( Selena's vocals are warm in the verses and the vocoder in the chorus acc sounds great, and of course the quality electropop beat goes off *.* It's kind of quirky in itself and a sign Selena was more than just basic pop. This walked so Bad Liar could run That's a reach but for real, this is a HUGE pop and so damn cute. A straight 10. Our top 5: Good For You Hands To Myself Lose You To Love Me Naturally The Heart Wants What It Wants Full results coming tomorrow.
July 21, 20204 yr Oh my God at the suggestion 'Naturally' doesn't deserve to be top 10! 'Love You Like a Love Song' is a very good pop number. I think at that point she/they just weren't achieving high charting singles generally.
July 21, 20204 yr My taste being the lowest scorer for all of 7-10. Good to get all of the trash out before the top 5 x (if 'Hands To Myself' is 5th then I think we have the correct top 4 iirc!)
July 22, 20204 yr would have preferred Fetish, Bar Liar and Same Old Love top 5 instead of Hands to Myself, Naturally and Good for you the only 2 I really like in that top 5 are Lose You and The Heart Wants... hope it's the top 2
July 22, 20204 yr Author 5. Naturally Average: 8.69 Know it's meant to be: Cameron, Jonjo, Josh!, Liam, Nick F1, ...ready for it, Tombo, Wall (10) Dexton, George.keh, Nina West, Tawdry Hepburn (9) How you chose to express yourself (is questionable): blacksquare (4) Bjork (7) Kicking the top 5 off, getting here by just 0.01 points (what could've been!) is 'Naturally'! Naturally was technically the 2nd single from her first album with The Scene 'Kiss & Tell', although it effectively launched them in most countries. It was a good start to Selena's UK career, going straight in at #7 but for a Top 10 hit it was mega frontloaded and still hasn't even gone silver eek. Still, a top 10 is a top 10 *.* This performed strongly across Europe, also reaching top 10 in Ireland, Slovakia, Hungary and Belgium. Despite a moderate #29 peak in the US it's almost 5x platinum there as well, so it's held up better there than here. A bop? Yes. Top 5? Nit. I wasn't that familiar with this song prior to the rate but it's instantly enjoyable and danceable, I get why it was a cute hit for her here but she's far surpassed it since imo, even with The Scene. This is the last song not to get an 11, so the fact it almost averaged 9 is v impressive
July 22, 20204 yr Naturally is STUNNING. The production is so wholesome and perfect. A very worthy top 5 placing!
