tbh I don’t care for any of the ones in that list. Hero and Without You probably the better two

I hope 'Honey' and 'Emotions' being #11-#12 in the poll doesn't put you off from them; 'Honey' is my favourite Mariah song, and 'Emotions' is right up there too (and I feel like it would be one of her most widely-appealing '90s hits)!

I'm not certain if it would make my vote but 'Heartbreaker' is definitely my favourite of the 5 listed.

 I do love both of those, I'm happy to consider them.

My main doubt about Emotions is that some BuzzJack members can be a bit "shrieeeeek!" when it comes to certain vocal moments, and I wonder if Emotions would push some people over the edge? I think her vocals are fabulous on it, personally. I could be overthinking it!

Honey is a strong contender. I wonder if the somewhat poppier feel of Heartbreaker and a Jay-Z rap will have wider appeal

Starting to wish that there were a couple more rounds so I could fit more in

Oh dear. Maybe, just to be truly safe, send a song that definitely does not have any high notes whatsoever:

 I'm sure that would get a vote from everybody *.*

this shows the world that Prisoner should have been a single :D

I'd go with Heartbreaker next or Dreamlover

Results So Far:

Round 1: 11th, 16 votes out of 40 - Vision of Love

Round 2: 1st, 28 votes out of 32 - Prisoner

Round 3: 8th (tied), 21 votes out of 39 - #Beautiful (feat. Miguel)

Round 4: 10th, 15 votes out of 30 - Heartbreaker (feat. Jay-Z)

Obviously Mariah is doing okay so far, but I hope there'll be a moment when one of her singles really connects with the voters!

Round 5 is Free Album Track Choice. Too many choices to list them all, of course!

I thought of these songs before the contest began. Please listen if you can!

Caution (from Caution, 2018)

Looking In (from Daydream, 1995)

Migrate [feat. T-Pain] (from E=MC², 2008)

The Distance [feat. Ty Dolla $ign] (from Caution, 2018)

Whenever You Call (from Butterfly, 1997 - solo version)

I certainly welcome all of your suggestions! Hopefully we can narrow it down and are able to reach a general consensus before it's time for the next round.

This is so hard - that's such a ridiculously strong selection of songs! In order of faves:

Looking In

Whenever You Call

The Distance

Migrate

Caution

The top 2 are STUNNERS. Migrate could perhaps capture the casuals more, but Looking In in particular would be such a gorgeous moment of diversity. A tough decision and I feel like I haven't helped much :sarah:

That is very helpful, thank you for listening!! I think that's the order I would rank them in tbh!

Looking In is actually my favourite too. It's such a powerful song. My only worry is... I feel like it's a song where you really must focus on the lyrics to have extra appreciation for it. I'm worried some will listen once and think "meh, bit boring" :(

I'm glad you ranked Whenever You Call second, it's really stunning  It's one of the very first Mariah album tracks I ever heard, because a duet version was included on her '#1's' album! But personally I prefer her solo version.

The Mariah fan base and seemingly a lot of casuals really loved Migrate in 2008 and wanted it to be a single! I suppose this could be considered as a potential surprising bop for some BuzzJack members, but then again I feel like it could prove to be divisive too... I can't imagine that it's everyone's cup of tea.

I love Migrate and The Distance - I think you might fare slightly better with The Distance.

I don't know the rest though!

Now That I Know from Music Box!! Pop banger :cheeseblock:

Ooh I wasn't familiar with that one, but I've listened to it (for the first time since 2015!) and it is a banger indeed :cheeseblock:

I'm so stuck! Thanks for all the feedback so far

I really hope there will be some appreciation for Whenever You Call. Imo it’s most definitely one of the most stunning ballads of her back catalogue... and her vocals are sublime! It's probably one of her most vocally challenging songs, more so towards the end of the song. This song demonstrates what a powerhouse Mariah Carey is

I wanted to show this side to Mariah in this competition, because it’s such an important side to her artistry. More bops~ will come, but obviously that’s not all she’s about.

Some of the other songs that were in contention for this round will have their moments in future rounds, so don’t worry, I’ve not disregarded them!
