Well done Melanie, the whole album isn't to my taste but it is cohesive and at least fun and more interesting than he last few. She absolutely rinsed the fans with formats and released 4 videos she wanted this top 10 so must be very satisfying.

Was hoping the Music Week write-up would give more info than the first week sales... I wanted some new totals. Oh well...

 

Her first album in four years, Melanie C's self-titled new release now becomes her first Top 10 album in 17, charting at No.8 with 7,265 sales to become her best chart performance since her second solo record Reason reached No.5 in 2003. If you'd told people back in 1996 that members of the Spice Girls would still be enjoying Top 10 records 24 years later, I'm not entirely sure anyone would have believed you.

 

Interesting to see that Melanie actually overtook Roger Waters in the end (he sold 7,096). I'm a bit infuriated to see that Lewis Capaldi ended up at #7 because of his desire to keep his Top 10 streak up (he sold signed "test pressing" CDs for £5 in a bid to stay Top 10). Melanie could have been #7 without that shenanigans. He sold 7,999, 734 more copies than Melanie. In the Thursday midweeks Melanie had sold 6,381 and Lewis was only on 3,776... :zzz:

This is huge, i was fully expecting number 10 at the very best today so a single didgit peak is a brill outcome.

Its very well deserved and im sure all in the mel c camp will be very happy with this.

Great result given the tough competion. Red girl records now has a uk top 10 album aswell as single.I am Sure she and her team must be over the moon. The change of management really has worked wonders she should of done it years ago before release of the sea. Still can't belive she made it!😀

I'm so happy for Mel. She deserves all the success with this album.

If she could get a 2nd week top 75 I'd be very happy with it,,I'm so happy she held that top 10 as I would have so hated number 11.

I think it will be a massive struggle for her to stay top 100 this week.
