Incidentally it seems the original sample was just from a snippet, not a full song - the original singer (Fousheé) has only now made it into a full song, so these two songs sampling it technically came out before the 'original' song.

Ugh Kygo and Tina looking like it's gonna get even bigger with that iTunes position, thought him repeating last summers antics would not have worked a second year in a row!

PSA: Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles is about to hit the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100!!!

 

This will be Harry's first single to hit the summit after his debut solo-single, Sign of the Times, debuted and peaked at number four in 2017. Furthermore, Harry will have achieved this feat with a post-album single (the fourth from his sophomore album Fine Line), something that rarely happens in today's music landscape.

 

Although this has yet to be officially confirmed- we will find out definitely tomorrow- esteemed sources have predicted Watermelon Sugar will more than likely be at the top spot.

I also only realised a couple days ago that the sample actually just came from a sample pack! I'd been confused because I'd heard numerous songs sampling it without a clear origin song, and some of them were older than 'Deep End Freestyle' - like the dance version by Fort Arkansas that came out in February (and also one by AREZRA that came out in early April a few days after 'Deep End Freestyle'). I assume this one is likely 'Deep End Freestyle'-inspired though since it's newer (and on a label with the power to get chart hits).

 

Also wow at 'Sunset Lover' getting yet another wave of popularity!
