31  (from 28) Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/82876886832.JPG

Chart Run: 13-1-2-2-3-5-9-9-12-18-21-23-28-31

Having been away from the music scene for the last couple of years to pursue an acting career (apart from the odd cameo appearances on records with Snoop Dogg and Sergio Mendes), Justin Timberlake finally makes a dramatic return to the charts with the Timbaland-produced 'SexyBack'. Not so much a comeback as a mission statement, 'SexyBack' acts as a taster for Justin’s forthcoming album, 'FutureSex/ LoveSound', his second since he departed the boyband N*Sync, becoming one of the slickest male solo artists of the 21st century. With dirty and sleazy synth riffs, processed vocals and lyrics oozing sexual intentions, 'SexyBack' might well just be Pop Single of the Year. The track also goes some way to cement Timbaland's status of being 2006's hottest producer, which he already demonstrated on Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater'. - HMV

30  (from 16) Sugababes - Easy

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/SUGA-EASY12.JPG

Chart Run: 30-8-16-30

Brand new track taken from their "best of" album 'Overloaded', 'Easy' is the sound of Sugababes at their salacious best; sexual innuendos writhe around slick electro beats, with the girls delivering their most sensual vocal performance to date. Written with members of Californian rock band Orson, 'Easy' is the perfect track to launch Sugababes into a brand new chapter of their careers, having just been hailed the most successful UK girl group ever, having clocked up no less than 16 chart hits since their debut in 2000. - HMV

This year hasn't had any more or less indie or rock than any other year

I still say pop and dance have dominated the charts again this year.. same as they do every other year

How many pop/dance/r'n'b no.1s have we had compared to indie or rock no.1s or even top 5s?

Dance hasnt dominated anything since about 2000, 2 dance #1s this year...

Pop has been struggling for a fare few years now, it had a bit of a ressurgence this year, but hasnt really dominated

R&B is decreasing in popularity since about 2004.

Indie-rock has dominated the top10 for most of the year imo

Oh, this song is in freefall. :( I rather like Easy. :cheer:

Wow. Poor Sugababes!

I don't actually mind the Sugababes -_-

:o Does this mean Shakira climbed again?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!

:o Really bad drop for the Babes

Yeah but hasn't the single been deleted? it's now impossible to legally downlaod anyway.

:cheer: Shakira  fave song of the year

Chart Run: 54-3-2-1-2-2-3-1-1-1-1-2-2-5-7-6-10-13-13-17-21-28-31-30-28

'Hips Don't Lie', a brand new track not featured on the current version of Shakira's 'Oral Fixation Vol.2' album, is a feel-good, summery, soca-rhythm track, with guest vocals from Wyclef Jean, which is much more of a catchy pop track than anything she has released since her breakthrough hit, 'Whenever, Wherever'. - HMV

This Shakira tune will no doubt still be in the charts in the new year (a la You're Beautiful).

Yeah but hasn't the single been deleted? it's now impossible to legally downlaod anyway.

Really? Well in that case it serves them right it's dropping.

Perhaps they are wanting to boost sales of the greatest hits album.

24 weeks on the charts and still going strong!

Will this song EVER go away?!

:manson:

No, I started to like it only few weeks ago :)

:cheer:  :cheer: Shakira! Shakira!

My favourite song of 2006, other than Weird Al Yankovic's Virus Alert.
