Slightly happier that once again, City didn't get to celebrate their title win by winning a match and rather it was confirmed in a muted way like in 2018. I was pleased that the reserves put a decent fight. Don't forget this Leicester team beat a full strength City 5-2 at their place.

Anyway y'all welcome Leicester for not allowing you to bottle top 4 again. Think they can lose their remaining games and be fine now. Would love for West Ham to pip Chelsea to fourth but then I remembered that if Chelsea won the CL (which I'd much rather than City) then West Ham wouldn't qualify anyway...

Oh I forgot to suit your arguement the English leagues started on 1992 😅

Football started in 1992, I thought this was a known fact!

They would! It would only have been if Chelsea & Arsenal finished out the top 4 and won the Champions League/Europa League then they wouldn’t.

Ah yes you're right. I forgot that Chelsea didn't finish top 4 the last time they won the CL and pinched the spot from Spurs.

Left-back Ryan Bertrand will leave Southampton when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old joined the Saints for £12m from Chelsea in February 2015, after spending six months on loan on the south coast.

He has made 240 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring eight goals and assisting 20 more.

Bertrand said: "It has been a difficult decision but the time has come for me to seek a new challenge."

The thing is, Leicester will be pretty poor in the Champions League next season. I've seen nothing to suggest Rodgers can manage in European football successfully, our record under him was dreadful in Europe. His Celtic record was fairly dreadful (compare that with Rangers under Gerrard) and I do think Leicester should have done better this season. Seems unlikely they will bottle it now as I suspect they will pick up at least a point in their final two games and I can't see Liverpool winning 5/5. But fair play for making it, can't see them getting there again.

Watch them finish above Liverpool again next season now you’ve said that :P

I don’t mind Leicester getting in as they aren’t one of the so called big six so they will get some more money to make them more powerful going forward which is good for English football to spread the wealth further same reason why I’d like West Ham to get in even if it’s unlikely after the last 6 games!

Klopp:

“To play Sunday, Tuesday and then Thursday is a crime. It is not the fault of Ole and the players. Would I have done the same? Yes. We have to“

Can't see it, even with me being massively biased. We're going to finish probably 3-6 points behind them, despite losing 6 home games in a row and not scoring an open play goal for 4 months at home  Don't think we will win the league next year, but suspect we will fly massively under the radar in terms of "pundits" predictions.

So after that shock result tonight, Top 4 is STILL in Liverpool's hands - madness.

Can't see it happening, but all of a sudden a draw in the Chelsea-Leicester game becomes a great result when we do our annual terrible job at Old Trafford with our 6th and 7th choice CBs!

Still??

Liverpool wanted the win way more than we did and we couldn't match their level of intensity, I'm glad that none of our players picked up a nasty injury as really from our perspective it's a case of waiting for the league to finish and moving on to the Europa final. If Leicester lose to Chelsea next Tuesday they could be in big trouble but alternatively there could be a repeat of what happened in 2012 possibly.

We win every game and we finish in the Top 4 (still a big IF though as we play 3 times within 10 days now and have a few niggles)

Not sure we wanted to win more, think we just were the better side this time. First time I've seen us press aggressively for a while and I'm just not sure Utd were expecting it. I thought we were excellent, with our centre backs we were always going to give up loads of space, but our midfield play was something I have not seen in a while. Thought Thiago was excellent. Just one other thing - not sure Henderson is better than De Gea.

Awful game from us, very disappointing as we threw the match against Leicester to go gung ho for yesterday but were completely outplayed. I worry the players are on the beach already!

Makes things very interesting for top 4 now. IF Liverpool pip Chelsea to fourth but Chelsea win the CL then I'm sure Chelsea would take Liverpool's spot though? That's what happened with Spurs in 2012 as I alluded to earlier?

The Europa League spot is completely different i.e. if Arsenal won that this season then it would steal a spot from some Eastern European league or something. I just know you can only have a maximum of 5 teams from any one league in the CL.

I don't think the players are on the beach, I just think Ole got his rotation wrong. Think he could have put together a weaker line-up at Villa and a stronger line up against Leicester and probably come away with more points than 3/9. That said, I just think we were better last night. Not sure it highlights all of Man Utd's weaknesses, I do think that is an overreaction somewhat but it probably does prove that Utd struggle to win the big games on a regular basis with their current set up.

Suspect it may have been a different game had Maguire and Greenwood been able to start. I did find it amusing how Neville was trotting out Man Utd without Maguire was tough.. try missing you entire CB roster for the majority of the season!

The rules were changed, countries can have a maximum of 5 teams in the Champions League. If the winners don't qualify through their domestic league, they qualify as winners of the Champions League (this was made more official after Everton were bumped out of the CL in 2005 as Liverpool won). So if Liverpool finished 4th and Chelsea won the CL, both would qualify. If both Arsenal and Chelsea finished outside of the Top 4 but both won their respective European competitions, Liverpool (or Leicester/West Ham etc.) would not qualify for the CL and would qualify for Europa. Complicated, but I'm an expert on it after the early Klopp years.
