Problem with United is they are a much better side and they're really good at one on ones, but there's absolutely zero team cohension, badly coached side. Honestly think if they got a good coach in whose not Ole they could do a lot better.

The improvements in the likes of Shaw show categorically that this isn’t a “badly coached side”

Utter rubbish

They are badly coached, just look at how Man Utd play. A good coached team can play football in numerous different ways, control games, mix up different patterns etc.. I'm on about overall play here, not individual play. Shaw has improved, most certainly. 1 on 1 the players are individually really good, but just compare how Liverpool, Chelsea and City are coached with patterns compared to Ole's United - a team plays for a draw and Ole has no idea what to do expect cross his fingers Bruno gets a penalty.

De Gea has never saved a f***ing pen. Ever. And then he has the audacity to miss

He dives five minutes early like

Wow, that was an incredible penalty shootout to watch! Congrats to Villarreal!

What a waste of time going to the final and losing in the Europa league.

Lovely trophy the UEFA Cup, much nicer looking that old big ears!

Feel sorry for De Gea as someone has to miss, great penalty shootout but Ole should have brought Henderson on for penalties!

United were absolutely dreadful and got what they deserved. Villareal marked Fernandes out of the game and they couldn't find an answer. Everyone seems to be pointing to the bench? Personally, I'm not really sure that would have made a massive difference. It's not like the bench was full of kids.

On a personal note I did find it bloody hilarious  Ferguson going thinking he was going to hand Utd the trophy, Ole going on about the spirit of '99, Paul Scholes telling everyone how bad Villareal must be. Emery is a genius!

You're playing Villarreal here. You're playing a team that finished seventh in a really poor La Liga."

"Think of Real Madrid and Barcelona, how bad have they been?"

"Manchester United should win this game comfortably."

Paul Scholes said before the match.

When the 90 minutes were over and the match was about to go into extra time that was when I started to get the feeling that we would lose this match. Most of our players had a poor game but Rashford in particular was really poor, Ole should have made substitutions much earlier in the game and Rashford should have been one of the players to get taken off. That penalty shoot out was ridiculous as well, definitely the most nerve wracking one that I've watched solely for how long it dragged on for! De Gea never looked like saving any of Villareal's penalties.

This feels even worse than getting to the semi finals last season and not winning the competition, naturally I can't really be bothered with the Europa League but it was one of those things where we may as well have gone on to win it once we reached a certain stage of the competition. I just hope that whatever happens next season that we completely avoid the Europa League. I would honestly rather have us finish bottom of our Champions League group next season than finish 3rd if we're not going to make it into the knockout stages.

Better to lose a European final than not be in one at all.

At last the season ends and I can move on to being disappointed in a cup comp by Germany instead.

Do people think Man United have made any progress since they won the Europa League back in 2017??

Yes. There’s been a mentality shift, back to back top 3 finishes and better recruitment. Still a work in progress but a lot better and brighter than any other time post-Fergie

There’s seems to have been some progress but is Ole the man to win trophies for united I’ve never been convinced. It’s not like united have no money since Fergie left they’ve thrown huge transfer fees and wages at players but it’s behind the scenes they are a mess!
