Biography

Honing his skills under the #OFB banner, North London rapper Headie One soon became one of drill's most engaging figures, finding national success alongside RV on the back of iconic mixtape Drillers & Trappers. Moving into solo work during the late 2010s, the rapper found his biggest success to date with 2019 mixtape Music X Road, which landed at fifth place on the U.K. album charts.

Rising from the remnants of North London gang Tottenham Mandem, rap collective Star Gang soon became a hotspot of talent for the North London rap scene, most notably Tottenham's Headie One (born Irving Adjei) and RV. From day one, the duo's synergy on the mike was evident. Working under Star Gang through the early 2010s, the two released early singles like "Youngers from Farm," shifting between more traditional U.K. rap and U.S.-inspired trap for early mixtapes Headz or Tails (Headie One, 2014) and Sticks & Stones (Headie One & RV, 2016). Moving fully into the U.K.'s drill scene, the pair released third mixtape Drillers & Trappers the following year. It was here that the pair truly made their mark: working with producers like MKThePlug and M1OnTheBeat, the duo quickly built a following with their relentless flows and artistic synergy. Marking their singles with the tag #OFB, the duo soon founded drill collective Original Farm Boys, an homage to the Broadwater Farm Estate where they grew up.

Headie continued through the late 2010s with a series of individual releases. His second solo mixtape, The One (2018), produced some of his biggest hits to date, with "Golden Boot" and "Know Better" soon becoming drill staples. After closing out 2018 with third tape The One Two, Headie kicked off 2019 with the long-awaited sequel to Drillers & Trappers, enlisting RV's help for 13-track set Drillers X Trappers II. Heralded by Top 10-charting single "18Hunna," the rapper's fourth tape, Music X Road, arrived later that year; with features including Skepta, Dave, and NAV, the tape pushed Headie's brand of drill into new, inventive directions. A strong working relationship with producer Fred Again produced the late-2019 single "Charades," before the duo linked up in early 2020 for experimental mixtape GANG. - iTunes

You mean to tell me Mikey missed out on Top 10 and Ava missed out on #1?! That's on homophobia luv.
Isn't this the officially US top 5? This top 5 is too much Urban/Rap for my taste. Thank God Looking For Me is there though.

Ain't It Different has almost no chance of going even top 100 in the US :P

Biography

Cardi B’s come-up reads like a 2010s Cinderella story. In just a handful of years, the sharp-tongued New Yorker went from viral Instagram phenom to one of hip-hop’s most exciting voices, establishing herself as a bossed-up feminist icon along the way. Born Belcalis Almanzar in the South Bronx in 1992, Cardi got a job as a stripper at 19, quickly building a social media following—in addition to her devotees at the club—for her viral videos and hilarious catchphrases. In 2015, she scored a spot on VH1’s drama-filled reality show Love & Hip Hop: New York, where her brash personality turned her into an immediate fan favourite among her more established costars. That same over-the-top charisma made Cardi a natural fit for rap dominance; witty, unfiltered and totally fearless, her early tracks doubled as mantras for self-made women who put themselves first. But it was “Bodak Yellow” that launched Cardi into superstardom; a trap anthem that rang out from cars and clubs throughout 2017, it begging you to shout along. Her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy, fused the Latin music of her childhood with hardcore New York hustlers' anthems, and squashed any doubts as to whether Cardi was here to stay. Meanwhile, her scene-stealing guest verses span the pop charts, from Bruno Mars (“Finesse [Remix]”) to Ozuna (“La Modelo”) to Maroon 5 (“Girls Like You”). Not bad for a self-proclaimed regular girl from The Bronx. - iTunes

Biography

With melodic flows inspired by a love of both high-end fashion and his music industry lifestyle, Bay Area rapper 24kGoldn achieved platinum success before his 18th birthday. The rapper rose quickly from posting his songs online to a major-label deal as he produced hits like the passionate rap/singing hybrid "Valentino."

24kGoldn was born Golden Landis Von Jones in 2000. Growing up in a lively neighborhood in the Bay Area, he was exposed to different cultural perspectives early on, which would later inform his versatile approach to music. He began singing, but during his formative years he was more interested in fashion and sneakers than music. When he began rapping at age 14, his musical persona took shape quickly. By 2016 he had begun posting songs online, and early singles like "iPhone" and "Trapper's Anthem" attracted moderate attention. He steadily released new songs, and it was 2018's "Ballin' Like Shareef" that broke through to wider audiences. At this point, 24kGoldn was attending University of Southern California and signed to Columbia affiliate Records LLC while working toward his degree. From there he recorded several songs that would become viral hits, beginning with the danceable and hooky "Valentino" in late 2018 and continuing in 2019 with "Games on Your Phone" and "A Lot to Lose." His first EP, Dropped Outta College, was released in November of 2019 and charted in the Billboard 200. - iTunes

I'm surprised you're not calling for Nathan to leave the chart, it's over 4 weeks old.

Because I know Nathan. He used to DJ at my local club

Has a song ever hit ACR while climbing every week before? I'm guessing this has declined again despite the climb and just one week to go.

Thunder went 26-21-24-20 on its last weeks on SCR and Ocean went 29-31-25-29 - so neither of those did (quite). Cheat Codes & Little Mix - Only You came close too, it went 14-17-14-13

Isn't this the officially US top 5? This top 5 is too much Urban/Rap for my taste. Thank God Looking For Me is there though.

The streaming era was always eventually going to converge all the global charts unfortunately.

I must say though the #1s this year have largely been excellent. Take away those 2 awful charity singles & I've liked all of them bar Billie Eilish to varying degrees.

Mood is also one of the best of the year :D probably only behind Joel Corry for me.

This joke is no longer funny, stop it!
After Billie Eilish and Jawsh 685, 24KGldn becomes the third artist born in the 2000s to top the chart this year. (Iann Dior just missed out, being born in 1999).
