Biography

East Staffordshire-based producer Nathan Dawe creates club music that draws heavily from garage and R&B.

Born in Burton-upon-Trent in 1994, Dawe began remixing other producers in his early twenties. Although he had begun to make a name for himself, it wasn't until the release of his 2018 single "Cheatin" that his career took off; after releasing the track, Atlantic Records got in touch to sign a deal. The single took a vocal sample from Deborah Cox's "It's Over Now" and added a propulsive garage-inspired bassline underneath. - iTunes

I’ll be shocked if Lighter doesn’t go to ACR next week. Still a very impressive run for a KSI song
Mood Swing still to come. Urgh! It has probably increased its streamings again.
Lighter has done super well! It is about time it hit ACR but it’s been a welcome top 10. Mood Swings however I just do not get the appeal, should’ve been The Woo if any song!
This has been in my head all week

Same here every time I hear it :( but I do like it

Biography

When his life was cut short in the early hours of February 19, 2020, Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was, at the age of 20, more famous than he’d ever been, yet nowhere close to where he was likely to end up. He exploded onto the scene in 2019 with “Welcome to the Party,” a song that somehow plays as enticing as it is menacing, exemplifying Brooklyn’s rising drill music scene at its sharpest. His voice across it—gruff and road-worn beyond his age—carries the delivery of a supervillain, daring his adversaries to try and stop the mayhem he has planned for the city.

Pop Smoke was from the far-flung Canarsie neighborhood, and his verses radiate a singular kind of Real Brooklyn energy. (A great deal of his "Welcome to the Party” video takes place in front of the long-standing jerk chicken staple Peppa’s.) His slang (“sturdy,” “dap me up”) was largely New York City-centric, which helped songs like “War,” “Christopher Walking,” and “Dior” reverberate quickly through, and beyond, the five boroughs. Fans worldwide got indoctrinated upon accepting his 2019 debut project’s invitation to Meet the Woo; a sequel, Meet the Woo 2, was released just weeks before his death. Pop Smoke worked well with the stars of his city, nabbing collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Bronx heartthrob A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and fellow ascending voices Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. He’d even have no problem setting his own tone on his Travis Scott collaboration “GATTI,” from the JACKBOYS project. Canarsie had Pop Smoke famously calling friends and associates his “woos,” but his enemies mostly went nameless, barely worth mentioning. As fast as things were moving for him, he couldn’t have had a second of spare time to give to anyone who didn’t believe. - iTunes

Agreed with the above. Great top 10 apart from the absolute stench that is Mood Swings :puke:
This weekly torture <_<
Do we actually know how close this was to going to ACR last week (as moot as that may be?)

Very

Mood Swing still to come. Urgh! It has probably increased its streamings again.

Diplo

Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer based in Los Angeles, California. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer, a member of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, a member of electronic duo Jack Ü with producer and DJ Skrillex, and a member of Silk City with Mark Ronson. He founded and manages record company Mad Decent, as well as co-founding the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. Among other jobs, he has worked as an English teacher in Japan and a school teacher in Philadelphia. His 2013 EP, Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the US Billboard 200. The EP's title track was later featured in a commercial for Hyundai and is featured on the WWE 2K16 soundtrack.

During his rise to fame, Diplo worked with British musician M.I.A., an artist who is credited with giving him exposure in his early career. Later, he and fellow M.I.A. producer Switch created a Jamaican dancehall project and cartoon series titled Major Lazer. Since then, Diplo has worked on production and mixtape projects with many other pop artists, such as Gwen Stefani, Die Antwoord, Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Trippie Redd, Chris Brown, CL, G-Dragon, Bad Bunny, MØ and Poppy. His alias, short for Diplodocus, derives from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs. - Wikipedia

Kareen Lomax

Atlanta-born Kareen Lomax’s forthcoming 7-track project, Hard Feelings, is an honest and uplifting soundtrack to her own little world that was inspired by her brush with fame and the belief that it was over. After living the rose-tinted life of a hotly tipped pop newcomer in 2016, gaining hundreds of thousands of listeners overnight thanks to a $50 Facebook ad for then single Melatonin, she lost sight of why she began making music to start with and returned to her hometown to be a dog groomer, picking up her life where she left it years before. Now, thanks to a chance discovery from Diplo in 2019, one of the world’s biggest producers, 2020 is set to be Kareen Lomax’s second coming.

Hard Feelings represents her life coming full circle, back to the place to where it all began and back to what she loves doing the most. Recording sessions in the city and a remote cabin in the mountains of Georgia ushered in Kareen’s new musical project, a shimmering, spell-binding R&B masterpiece set to be her best yet. - Spotify
