Saying that, are Radio 1 broadcasting a chart show on Xmas Day  I can't remember the last time that happened, and what they did, I think Christmas TOTP just announced the #1 track.

Might be the quietest chart show thread here ever

It happened in 2015, I distinctly remember hosting the chart show on Christmas Day! They simply did it earlier in the day.

Ah... I remember now, the Choir track was #1, knocked off a week later by Uptown Funk :cheer:

I think the Spotify figures aren't higher cos people are streaming songs that are not current. Specially older people. I see it all the time with my coworkers, everybody is like listening to Crowded House Greatest Hits or some 2005 Fiona Apple album, nobody listens to Hot Hits...

Definitely agree with this. I think the few older songs you see popping up around the top 200 is just barely scratching the surface of the overwhelming amount of older material that's the bulk of what's getting streamed, whereas newer material is either in the charts now or getting minimal traction with very little in-between.

I expect it will be a very big year for Christmas songs, even if they don’t quite have as big a week officially due to the chart dates. I think people will more than ever be looking to them for comfort, joy and nostalgia after such a hard year, in the same sort of way that Strictly ratings are up. They’re familiar and heartwarming, and that’s what people quite understandably want.

Exactly this. After the year we've had, I can't wait to finally listen to some Christmas music. A lot of people will be the same

Little Mix holding up pretty impressively well so far, can definitely see this ending up being a bigger hit than 'Break Up Song'.

'All Girls Are The Same' seems to have been continuously slowly creeping up the chart - probably a good chance it could get a new peak this week, though as I theorised in the top 100 thread a few weeks ago I expect once it gets to 9 weeks in the chart (or a few more than that if it continues swerving ACR) it'll disappear and never return as it still remains consistently behind 'Robbery' and 'Lucid Dreams' on Spotify and is only charting now by the quirk of it still being on SCR due to never charting while he was alive.

Sweet Melody coming to be a big hit is exactly the energy I need this morning, this leading into the album launch could really help them secure that number one
Great to see Sweet Melody at 15. Perfect single to lead into the album release.

wow very impressed by Golden, crazy video effect

he seems to be one of the few artists with video releases translating into massive Spotify streams

like there was zero effect when Gaga released 911

Golden also doing very well on Apple, #65 now

is the Granson song also another TikTok?
