October 16, 20204 yr This is not good. I like how even though his voice is heavily edited, they still went with those STRAINED vocals. His lower range at the start sounds nice, but once he goes into the higher range it's not good. I think he's lost it unfortunately, can't take him seriously since "Stuck With U" which I loved but he showed zero vocal ability on that song.
October 16, 20204 yr It's obvious that he is not taking care of his voice and singing any more. I've seen him live twice and he lip-synced almost 100% of the time. That's awful considering his initial talents.
October 16, 20204 yr If Halsey released this imagine the reaction.... 😴 We love a tired trope on BuzzJack - "if a female released it they would love it!!!1". So boring.
October 16, 20204 yr crazy how even with all the technology and autotune in the world, he still sound so bad
October 16, 20204 yr The ‘buzzjack only likes female singers’ posts really are tiresome. This is...not good. A bad song is a bad song. I wouldn’t like it if it was someone else singing it either, the yodelling chorus is painful. It’s still better than Holy though, so at least there’s that.
October 16, 20204 yr I can't personally hear it sounding like something Halsey would release, maybe if she did I would prefer it as she has more emotion in her voice and has a unique styling but as Cremey says, I just personally think the song is bad in my opinion. I really WANT to have a good Justin song again but everything is so formulaic or chart chasing and mediocre in my opinion.
October 16, 20204 yr Hi, I don’t care who says it but I am not tolerating hurtful comments targeting a specific person. Responses will be deleted and in future will be forwarded to a global mod. Soz if this makes me sound like the pop forum Hitler again, but tough.
October 16, 20204 yr Author I'm not particularly a fan of Justin or piano ballads generally, but something about this really works for me. I'm glad I've quite enjoyed this and Holy after how weak Changes was.
October 16, 20204 yr This is okay, it’s not as strong as Holy or as catchy as Intentions but a decent ballad I just don’t see the point in releasing this and Holy within like weeks of each other? The latter seems to be doing pretty well and hasn’t even peaked in the US yet, at least give it time to simmer
October 16, 20204 yr Funny how no one mentioned that Benny Blanco was behind Love Yourself as well. It will be a hit, I'm sure, but I just can't with the length of the song. I HATE SHORT SONGS! :arrr:

Who knows, maybe they just wanted to release the track to coincide with mental health awareness and lockdowns. It's not my favourite from him and I do agree the vocals are a bit off. But I do find the song quite raw and emotional, which is something we haven't heard from the JB back catalogue.
October 17, 20204 yr Not the best tbh, it's not terrible by any means but comparing this to Holy theres a huge difference in quality.
October 18, 20204 yr Lyrically it's extremely depressing and heartbreaking, it shines such a light on what he went through when he was 16 years old. I'm unsure on the "loooOOOOoOOooOOooOnely" parts but I actually think he sounds really good in the rest of the song? His vocals in the past couple of singles have been really good! Love the simple yet effective video too! Wonder if they're actually pushing this or if it's just a promo single so he'd have 2 new songs to perform on Saturday Night Live? Not even Capital have played it yet so seemingly they aren't pushing it (yet).
October 18, 20204 yr Absolute pandering crap this. His voice sounds alright, but really the content is...typical Scooter fare. Very calculated to patch up his image again. Still, no doubt it will do its job. He's a white guy in pop, all he has to do is turn up.

Love the simple yet effective video too! Completely agree with this. When I heard the song, it really hit me just how heartbreaking it is, and how much he's been made to suffer with his life under the microscope through his teenage years. Yeah, there are parts of it that maybe don't sound great (namely what Joseph's already mentioned), but I can't help feeling so sorry for him and all that he's been through, and hope he's found happiness now. Whether you like him or not, his music, or whatever else, I really don't think this is a calculated move for reformation? Already with Holy and now this, it's seeming like this era is the light at the end of the tunnel for Justin.
October 20, 20204 yr The yodelling sounds like he's auditioning for Maria in 'The Sound of Music'. I'm not really sure anyone is that interested in the "boohoo poor Bieber" narrative considering what a brat he was in his youth.
October 20, 20204 yr I'm not really sure anyone is that interested in the "boohoo poor Bieber" narrative considering what a brat he was in his youth. I think the point of the whole song has been missed
October 20, 20204 yr I think the point of the whole song has been missed Not really... the songs constructs itself about how hes always felt alone and then throws in a narrative of him being an "idiot kid" with no ownership over his behaviour; only that he was sad and alone?
