Get your inner detective at the ready again for we have another album cover quiz for you to feast your eyes on! Due to the generally positive feedback received earlier this year when I hosted my first album cover quiz, I was happy to volunteer to host another one (though I will attempt a different quiz next time round).

The theme I’ve chosen for this quiz is 21st Century Albums, that’s any studio album released in the UK on or after the year 2000. Every year so far this century is represented in this quiz and the selection of 40 covers below are from varying genres. Some years will feature more than others. There is no set chart peak criteria here, though many of these albums would have peaked relatively high in the UK or elsewhere, but not all of them.

Additionally, this album cover quiz has a few bonus questions which you may wish you try and crack. Correctly count the number of albums from the selection which peaked at #2 to receive bonus points! You can also get bonus points for guessing how many albums are self-titled, which years are featured the most and which album that did not chart at all.

The deadline for entries is Saturday 31st October 2020 at 23:59 and the results will come the following day. Please PM me, awardinary, with your answers working numerically across each row of 4 images until you reach the bottom row.

You can score points as follows;

10 points for correct artist and album.
or
5 points for correct artist (without album name)
or
5 points for correct album (without artist name)

and there are lots of ways to earn extra points including;

25 bonus points for correctly guessing the number of albums which peaked at #2 in the UK Albums Chart (this includes any album which failed to reach #1 but reached at peak at #2)

25 bonus points for correctly guessing the number of ‘Self-titled’ albums (this includes any album that features the artists name in full as part of the album title)

10 bonus points for correctly guessing which year is most represented in this quiz (this includes any album which had it’s UK release in that year)

10 bonus points for correctly guessing which album did not chart in the UK Albums Chart

Oh my goodness I literally bought both #1 and #40 in a charity shop this afternoon, what a coincidence :o (I also bought one other album that isn't in here but on well)

 

Quite a few I recognise here but I'll need some time to find them all!

Just to say I’ve had to revise one of my bonus questions slightly after it was pointed out to me that one year had one album less than I had originally counted. So there is only one year for you to guess instead of two now. Apologies for the error.

Do we have to be spot on with the bonus questions? or will you give us a few points if we're one number out? ;)

 

And also, for guessing which album didn't chart, will we still get the points if we pick the correct number, even if we don't get the artist/title?

Good questions! I think when it comes to stating the numbers in the bonus questions I will use the same criteria as last time and only accept correct answers, so if they are one or two out then I won’t be awarding points sorry. I’m sure other quizmasters would have to make a similar judgement about this sort of thing.

 

However I will be lenient as to the album which didn’t chart, so if you identify the artist name or album name then half points will be awarded. If you can only identify the image location on the grid without an artist or album name then I will simply award 1 point, but that one extra point could make all the difference! I hope that’s fair. ^_^

I was pretty sure i knew who it was but I’ve looked at my old 00s collection and it wasn’t who I first thought :lol: :lol:

Yeah I'm stumped with that one too! And the blue fist isn't what I first thought, but I know I definitely know that album!

Hoping to have got around 15 of these. 6 & 37 the two that have frustrated me most

Number 30 was the most frustrating one for me. Still no idea what it is :lol:

Yeah 30's the one that I'm stuck on. Are they both sharing the same top or what? :unsure:

30 was intended to be a tad bit obscure but if you don’t get it you’ll find out why in the results! ;)

Thanks to all the time spent in charity shops I've recognised quite a few of these without looking anything up. Embarassingly, two of the titles I can't remember are albums I know I own... I can even remember where I bought them.
