I pray it doesn’t get reset.

Lewis will probably release a limited edition signed physical version of the song with a strand of his hair to anyone who can prove they've streamed it 10 times every day of the week just to spite us all! /s

 

(hopefully the OCC have some new rules regarding resets planned following that Perfect fiasco set for release come January anyhow)

I still feel like the split Christmas tracking week will limit the amount of resets in January anyhow.
Last year the market fell by 17.8% with Christmas songs disappearing, meaning that other songs only needed a 7.2% increase or higher to get a reset (Perfect did 10.8%) - this year the market should stay more stable so there'll be a higher bar. Wouldn't rule out resets happening altogether, but I don't think Someone You Loved will be one of them.

I wish I could get excited about Meduza going top 10 on Apple already but I'm still not really loving the song yet. Oh well.

Yesterday was the first time I looked at the Hot Hits playlist and it's crazy how old some of the top songs are. No wonder the charts are so stale. The power that these playlists have over the charts and the fact that the same songs can stay in the top ten for months makes it really unfair. :/

 

I've always felt this, the Hot Hits playlist and its monopolisation is probably the worst thing to ever happen to music/the charts.

 

I'm glad in recent times Apple Music seems to be having a bit more influence.

yes it's sad to see the dominance of Hot Hits especially considering how slow it updates and how reluctant it is to play certain type of artists. It wouldn't hurt to add Kylie even as track #75 instead of some of those urban tracks that have been perpetually in the list since January.

Also it's pity in the UK no one cares much about Today's Top Hits which is a much more dynamic playlist and newies are always favoured since day 1. But it's apparent TTH has not much effect in the UK, this week for instance they're pushed the new version of Mood like crazy, been track #1 all week + cover, but the effect has been little... they've also placed very high the new singles by Bad Bunny and Maluma/The Weekend but none are even top 200 in the UK, if the playlist had some effect, we'd see it...

 

But also think Apple does not have much share in the market. We see it every week, songs that do well on Apple, barely make the top 100 come Friday in the charts. Like this dance cover of You Don't Wanna Know, nearly top 10 on Apple and bottom of the top 100 in the mids...

Just for what it's worth, "Someone You Loved" was added to Today's Top Hits in 2018 and was still on the playlist in 2020.

Oh it was a while before it was a US hit, I think it only left for like a month or two at most, probably re-added around when it went to #1 in the UK.

Remember when they made Westlife the first song on Hot Hits U.K. a couple of years ago.
