It would be great if they could re-enter the top 40 but it seems unlikely given they don't get good playlisting (they're doing not very well on Apple too, only #691 there).

They managed #61 officially last year anyhow so they'll at least go top 75 again I'd imagine.

Strange that there are so many more Christmas songs in the top half of the Spotify top 200 than the bottom half (22 vs. 9) and the same on Apple (14 vs. 7) - the power of playlists I suppose.

A lot of people are going early with Christmas this year as they need a bit of hope and joy. I've seen so many trees up and posts of f*** it I'm putting the decorations up.

Yeah exactly this.. I put my decorations up on the 10th November which is way earlier than I normally would. And I've pretty much been listening to Christmas songs since late October. Normally everything would be later but after a crappy year it's a bit of much needed joy 😂

I think people want more hope than 'lonely this christmas' putting on Xmas music and the tree up early is about escaping the doom not wallowing in it. 'Lonely' is way too on the nose.
Yeh was thinking that, people want upbeat songs. Like it is well known that Slade released their Xmas single when the uk was in a big low economically with three days weeks etc and that’s why it did so well (as well as being a fantastic pop song of course)!
