omg not even a pandemic can make the BBC change it's Christmas Day line up. That's New Year's Day seemingly confirmed for Doctor Who then, shame it's lost the Christmas Day slot!

excited for The Serpent!

I can see the schedule changing a bit in the next few updates, they're currently all over the place with some slightly odd decisions in the week leading up to Christmas Day (one being BBC One showing Paddington 2 yet again on Christmas Eve directly up against Paddington on Channel 4...)
Not a great lineup imo - not one Christmas classic on Xmas Eve is disappointing - they’ll be on itv and Ch4 anyway I suppose. Live football at 3pm on Boxing Day - when’d that last happen!
I actually hope EastEnders performs as terrible as possible. Maybe if they even flop at Christmas, it'll give them the kick up the backside they've needed for so long.

Even if it flops on Xmas Day they'll just use the excuse 'oh it started halfway through BGT and up against Gogglebox'.

Not a huge amount of highlights which for me is symbolised by a repeat of the Gavin & Stacey Xmas special from last year prime time on Xmas Eve!

Tbf I imagine the Gavin & Stacey repeat will rate rather well. I agree that there's not many highlights, although I guess it was inevitable this year in particular.

I'll be watching Dunkirk, for sure, and I'll probably give the first episode of Black Narcissus a go.

Pretty smart of the bbc to start the big winter dramas during Xmas as it’ll get people hooked until feb!

Yeh Gavin & Stacey will get big ratings, everyone’s in watching tv on Xmas Eve!

It's obviously not the schedule the BBC had in mind at the start of the year. They were always going to show Gavin and Stacey again but there are clearly holes in the schedule where planned programmes simply didn't get made.
  • 2 weeks later...
I've just seen that on 22nd December BBC One are showing Spiderman: Homecoming which might be the network premiere of the film. It's going to be on from 7:55 PM - 10:00 PM so it looks like it's going to be a perfectly timed showing of the film which should mean good ratings.
