September 24, 20213 yr OH MY GOD Russel T Davies is returning as showrunner for the 60th anniversary special + the next series!!!
September 24, 20213 yr OMG !!!!!!! I'm completely GOBSMACKED, he's said before he wouldn't do it but I'm SO EXCITED!
September 24, 20213 yr :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: I THOUGHT IT WAS A PRANK THAT I KEEP FALLING FOR
September 24, 20213 yr one move further to a T’Nia Miller Doctor :cheeseblock: although at the same time maybe the Olly rumours did have some truth oop
September 24, 20213 yr Fantastic news to get confirmation of a 60th special (wasn’t sure it would happen in light of the 100th BBC anniversary episode, Chibnall & Jodie leaving) but the fact it’s ‘60th and beyond’ suggests we’re looking at two years without a full series :( It sounds ungrateful but we’ve been STARVED over the past few years :kink: I do wonder if we’ll be seeing the return of spin-offs again? There’s a lot of talk about competing with Netflix/Disney+ and RTD stated the show should be looking at it’s own MCU type franchise. Extremely exciting times ahead!!
September 24, 20213 yr Great news, Russell T Davies was great as showrunner before in the Eccleston/Tennant era
September 24, 20213 yr This is the best news. He knows what to do. It also highlights how desperate things must be behind the scenes but hopefully not for long with this news.
September 24, 20213 yr It does show how all the negativity wasn't unfounded, I hope this can mean they can give the show a bit more attention to fix it, though it's reassuring they seem to have actually listened to feedback this time. If it isn't Olly Alexander, then surely T'Nia Miller's now a name to speculate on!
September 24, 20213 yr T'Nia would be a great choices! It makes me wonder though if/how they'd explain her previous appearance as The General.
September 24, 20213 yr I would ADORE T'Nia as the Doctor! Lydia West also feels like a potential option if we're looking at people RTD has recently worked with  This still feels like some weird fever dream  but I'm just ecstatic, I feel so excited about where Who's heading and I feel confident that RTD is going to bring back the elements of his initial run that worked, whilst pushing it forward with new ideas (I feel like he wouldn't have returned if he didn't have a vision for it?)
September 24, 20213 yr I still can’t believe it either! I would have put more money on Kris Marshall being the Doctor :kink: Even aside from the writing, RTD really FIGHTS for the show including across all formats e.g. there wouldn’t have been the Big Finish audios after 2005 without him. I don’t know what has happened behind the scenes over the last few years but none of that has really appeared to have come through. I know that RTD gives it 150% (although hopefully not to his personal detriment this time round!!) and I’m just so excited for there to be a lot of NOISE again. It’s the fact I’m extremely more hyped and excited for Series 14 than the one that is coming who even knows when… I do hope that he keeps Sacha Dhawan as the Master though
September 24, 20213 yr OMG RTD BEING SHIPPED IN TO SAVE THE SERIES!!!! THEY MUST KNOW THAT CHIBNALL AND JODIE DESTROYED DOCTOE WHO!!! I have faith that he can fix the utter shit show it has literally become.

And Rose and rhe Clone??
September 25, 20213 yr I keep thinking about everything this could and should mean for the show going forward but really I want one main thing - I want the show to air regularly again. I don't see it going back up to as many as 13 episodes + a special every year (and that burned RTD out, not to mention the spin-offs) but I'd be happy with 8-10 episodes in each series as long as they air every year in a regular slot. It's mad to think, aside from series 8 and 9 airing in consecutive autumns, Doctor Who's not aired reliably since series 4...! Beyond that, I really want to see some interesting monsters. I feel like iconic monsters have been thin on the ground since RTD left - I'd argue only the Silence really come close to the likes of the Ood, Weeping Angels and Slitheen that were conceived during the RTD era? Also... companions that are fully fleshed out characters and not cardboard cutouts please!!!! Spin-offs would obviously be a massive bonus, I don't feel confident in Torchwood returning given the John Barrowman backlash now but there's definitely an option for something new I'm sure (someone pls commission The Adventures of Bill & Nardole xxx). All I'm really hoping for is a strong vision once again that pushes Doctor Who forward, and like I said before, I don't believe RTD would've committed to something he knows is extremely hard work if he didn't have a clear idea of where to go.
September 25, 20213 yr Great news. I was thinking about Olly (Potentially) being the Doctor and if the 14th Doctor isn't until 2023, could actually fit in with Y&Y releasing a music/ album this year and touring next year. Ready for Olly to be in Who from 2023. Saying that though, I can see it being Lydia West... or basically anyone who was in either It's a Sin or Years and Years (the TV programme, not the group) Edited September 25, 20213 yr by ElectroBoy

No. Absolutely not. Olly Murs is not an actor. He is a Cowell singer. We need our first female doctor anyway. This era will be retconned to have never happened oe to have been a strange dream, hence the thumb-sucking anf other strangeness.
