Jesus I just watched the video... I'm not even a vegetarian but I'm traumatized and I'm not sure if it's for myself or for that lobster watching it's mates get boiled alive and then eaten... So apparently I'm both a sensitive soul and a hypocrite because I wouldn't think twice about eating it. Thank God for the ending is all I'll say.

The song is growing on me a bit. It's still 2nd weakest of the new tracks for me.

Sounds like ‘Feel This Moment’ to me.

Edit. Just seen others have posted this too :D

Argh there are elements of a good song here - I like the general groove of the production and the verses - but the chorus feels a bit overlong without being worth the pay-off. I'll give the video a watch after work and see if that helps it to grow more.

Edit: just realised what the production of the verses is reminding me of - the chorus of 'God is a woman', omg! Can totally picture Ariana's "youuu, you love it when I move you" etc. over the top of it. If only the rest of the song was giving me that much life

It seems that there's one for, at least, today in the US.

Great news!

Only C-list on Radio 1 though! Even Swan Song was an instant A-list add

Up to #16 on iTunes and #39 on Apple Music!

I'm so nervous about the Spotify update tomorrow! The low placement on Hot Hits really isn't ideal :drama: #PrayForDua

It sounds better than when I listened to it the other day (was that version at all different?), but yeah it's such a disappointing step down compared to what she's given us over the past year or so.

Video is great though!

I couldn't stand it on first listen, but I've really started to like it after several plays! Like the posters said in the iTunes thread "About time we get a song with an actual chorus! Outstanding" :gaga:

The music video also adds a lot of depth to the lyrics. I think change in pace and sound may take some getting used to, but in hindsight I think they made the right choice with this!

This is going to be a slow burner on spotify but I can see it smash eventually

this managed to get 108k streams on Spotify yesterday in couple hours.

Let's hope better numbers in tomorrow's update with full 24 hours of streaming!!!

She's delivered many songs with an actual chorus this era though!

I dunno, while it's different to everything else this era it's a generic commercial pop song that's trying to appease the American audience when it feels like she was really on to carving out her own fresh identity with the Future Nostalgia stuff. :( I can sort of appreciate it in its own right but it's definitely 10 steps backwards for her.

It’s especially strange when this isn’t what American audiences found appealing about Dua in the first place. It’s like Kylie’s attempts at having success in the US when it was the dance pop sounds of Head and Love at First Sight that they liked about her.

I think it's unfair for people to diminish everything she's done so far and handled amazingly album campaign wise (in a pandemic) for a single that you might think it doesn't belong in with her current era!!!

While it might not sound cohesive to FN, I still think it was necessary for her to come up with something different from the disco sound...in the end of the day when you're a singer I think you constantly have to try and evolve or otherwise you will be called for being the samey!!!

I don't think that is comparable at all.

And just so you know the US music market is a beast in itself. Especially for female singers. Kylie never had the access to the US success platform (her US hits did grow organically) that Dua has it now (Spotify, payola etc etc). Things have changed a lot in 20 years and Dua label are showcasing that she's versatile and has a lot to offer to the US market!!!

Dua released three consecutive disco sounding singles in US and if they went for a 4th same sounding single, I truly believe people here would have called for her to change it up a bit.

I made that comparison earlier when I was discussing this with a friend of mine! (who's a super stan). It's like when Kylie got a taste of US success her label felt she had to try and cater to that (much as I do love the BL material).
