Always hated that interview! She agreed to do a interview asking some fab questions and every single one was about spice girls nothing to do with her solo work, after knowing how frustrating it can be to answer spice girls questions non-stop I thought fans would have chosen some more variation, or they would have chosen a variation if it was down to those two.

Also she couldn’t remember anything lol, I do wonder if she couldn’t or just couldn’t be arsed after that, at one point she even says “is it another spice girls question” lol.

Yeah, that fan interview is cringe worthy. I understand fans want information on unreleased tracks. However, they should realize Melanie probably hasn't thought about these songs since the day they were recorded.

Ok, I’m a bit of an insomniac, so I went down the rabbit hole. These are the only discrepancies that I noticed. I hope this helps some. I’ll try to find the appropriate links from Spice News or other

I never found credits for All We Need, so that is definitely interesting to see. It’s been a good 15 years since I searched publishing for the Touch era writers. I kinda lost interest and was more int

Yeah I agree, although bless them for trying and for her to be open to it.

I guess producers like Biff and Elliott Kennedy seem much more open to discussing these things with more in-depth detail. So maybe we should ask them!!

My GOD in 2007 they could have been huge, had they not eaited MONTHS from announcement to launch and rleeased Spice Is Back out of the blue! Follow it up with W.O..M.A.N, a really rocky Pain Proof, maybe with Paul McCartney or Arctic Monkeys, and then Hesdlines, with different lyrics and a new video, for CIN. THEN!!! Have Calvin remix Stop and have a campaign for it to be no.1. See how the album goes, and then decide whrther or not to continue from there on.

I've changed the original post to reflect the info that Biff Stannard says here:

Overnight is stated both as a 1995 Spice demo, and a 1999 Forever demo. Biff mentioned in

that Overnight was written in 1995 during the first sessions he did with the band. However, he also posted a picture on his instagram with a 1999 demo tape which included a bunch of Forever demos, which included Overnight.

So there might be a second version of Overnight where the original 1995 demo was re-worked to potential inclusion in what would eventually become their third album, Forever. Obviously things hanged and it was never released, alongside all the other demos mentioned in the picture that Biffco posted.

Would be interesting to hear them both! :teresa:

Of course, it could just as easily mean that it was the same demo, but that's not as fun lol

I posted this in the general discussion topic, but it's more relevant in this thread.

Songwriter Sheppard Solomon recently was on a music podcast. He revealed the unreleased track Seven Days is from Spice. Solomon said him and Mark Taylor (songwriter and producer of Cher's Believe) wrote two songs with the girls. He also goes into detail about meeting the girls for the first time and how wild they were.

Starts at the 15 minute mark.

Thank you! Will change. Do we know at all what other song it was they did together with Solomon?

I am also listening to Mel C's audiobook today and will include here any other bits of info. Some INTERESTING STUFF for sure so far beyond what was already posted!

A bit more info on some tracks, from Mel C's book:

- One of Those Days was the first song they ever created together, whilst they were still under Heart Management but did it on their own at home, away from the management team in Geri's old casio keyboard player

- CONFIRMED that a version of Say You'll Be There with Mel B's rap exists!!!!! WHY wasnt included in Spice25 instead of the demo we got :nickyoung:

- Who Do You Think You Are, Last Time Lover, Something Kinda Funny and Naked were all recorded in 1995 all in the same sessions, and before they signed to Virgin which is WILD to me!

Thank you! Will change. Do we know at all what other song it was they did together with Solomon?

No, he didn't say what the other song title was. Nothing else is registered on publishing sites.

we should ask him!! :teresa:

We should. Need to find out if he's on social media. Also, I forgot to mention he says his recording session with the girls was roughly two weeks before they signed with Simon Fuller.

If I remember right they signed with Fuller in July 1995.

It is quite amazing they did so much before siging on with Fuller and with Virgin, actually, whilst being on the dole (state benefits) and managing themselves. People were working with them purely because of their talent and determination, which is pretty iconique!!!

i do wonder if they actually will ever release 'WOMAN'.

Biff did hint it was being planned for Forever25 :teresa:

The girls deserve much more credit for their songwriting. Sadly, I don't think they will ever get that credit.

I guess we'll never know...but I'm not sure they were necessarily looking for the "best" songs. Here's what I mean. Since they invited Neyo to take part, I think there's an indication they were open to furthering their sound at one time in the creative process. Mel C has also said she liked some of these other songs they recorded...whereas she didn't like Voodoo. My guess is what they ended up picking wasn't necessarily the best, but rather a conscious decision to pick what best recaptured the old sound.

But yeah. I definitely agree on the Headlines video. It's such a dud creatively. Considering they got Jamie King as their tour director to make their show the best of the best...their team really should have shown that same level of quality control to the video. Had the video been this big, beautiful thing like Goodbye's...I actually think the song itself would be better regarded today. My memory is the video shoot and the video release weren't far apart, so I guess there just wasn't the production time to make something grand.

A last thought on Headlines. Looking back on it nearly 15 years later, I've never stopped liking the song...but I do think there's something of a lyrical missed opportunity. I think the concept of a big love song from the perspective of hugely famous people is actually fairly clever. Like...I love you enough to take you on this tabloid journey with me. But beyond the first three lines of the chorus...the rest of the song isn't really about that. More a standard love song.

The Headlines video was a incredibly rushed as Mel B was on Dancing with the stars at the time.

Where did he hint this?

Where did he hint this?

I find the concept of Forever25 a bit difficult to wrap my head around. Sure, there's more or less a whole other album from 1998/1999 that they never released and it would be great to get that, but given how many unreleased tracks they are still hoarding and sleeping on (from Spice at least), I am doubtful anything will come out of the vault, especially for an album where the group wasn't unified as a 5 piece to begin with. Can't imagine Gerita White celebrating an era that she forced yet wasn't a part of.

However, I will say, I think new artwork for Forever25, if it happens, would alone be considered a win by the fanbase. I still remembering buying the album on the day it came out here and looking at in my hands and thinking: they look exhausted; 'colours of the world' my arse. :teresa: I'm not saying the entire album is poor, but it just ... wasn't the best version of what they could have been as a 4-piece (in my opinion). I think if they made a 4 piece album today, it would be a better record because they just seem in a much better place with everything.
