Delivering woozy trap and hedonistic rap verses on tracks such as "Gucci Mane" from their 2018 debut Any Minute Now, D-Block Europe are a London-based rap duo featuring Dirtbike LB and Young Adz.

The two rappers met while at school in South London — LB was impressed with the skill Adz exemplified on his first track "Da Prodigy," released when he was just 13. The pair struck up a friendship, with Adz going on to sign a deal with Universal and gaining a following with his mixtapes. The pair began to collaborate in 2014; however, they decided to spend the next two years honing their craft to achieve a unique mix for their project. They made their first appearance in 2017, releasing the singles "Love of the Money" and "Large Amounts" on D-Block Records. The duo gained recognition with the tracks and with continuous support from the BBC's Fire in the Booth and the Westwood Crib Sessions. The two went on to work with various other artists including Not3s and Don Andre. D-Block Europe released their debut LP, Any Minute Now, which featured Yxng Bane in July 2018. Their second mixtape, Home Alone, arrived in early 2019 and featured guest appearances from the likes of Nafe Smallz and M Huncho. Quickly becoming one of the U.K.'s biggest rappers, New Moston-born Aitch rocketed to fame in the late 2010s after the success of viral freestyle "Straight Rhymez." After featuring on prolific U.K .hits like "Keisha & Becky" and "Strike a Pose," the charismatic MC took his own place on the U.K. charts with the wildly-popular hit "Taste (Make It Shake)" and EP AitcH20.

Born in New Moston, Manchester, British rapper Aitch (born Harrison Armstrong) began performing casually while he was still in school. When Duke Dumont topped the UK charts with his single “I Got U” in 2014, many listeners may have assumed that featured artist Jax Jones was the singer. In fact, Jones (born Timucin Aluo in 1987) was a cowriter and producer on the song, whose No. 1 position marked his auspicious debut. Raised in London by a Turkish father, a Malaysian mother and a Nigerian stepfather, Jones grew up on a mix of American hip-hop, UK dance and African music, which might help to explain the mix of styles that swirls through his music: His youthful fondness for Prince shows through in funk-infused cuts like 2015’s “Ocean Drive”, while Afro-Caribbean accents bubble up in 2018’s “Ring Ring,” a lilting tropical-house jam. Though his beats generally follow the punchy cadence of deep-diving future house, he brings a hip-hop producer’s collage sensibility to the mixing desk: Many of his productions slyly interpolate other songs. “You Don’t Know Me”, from 2017, is built around the slinky hook of M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade’s 2005 anthem “Body Language”, while “I Got U” contains a choice bit of Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love”. Born in Ibiza and raised in Antigua, singer/songwriter Au/Ra crafts alternative pop with electronic influences inspired by her multicultural upbringing. Influenced by artists like Lana Del Rey, Kraftwerk, the Neighbourhood, and Arctic Monkeys, the young Jamie Lou Stenzel was raised by music-loving parents (her father is a producer in the electronic/trance scene) and decided to pursue music at the age of ten. Under the name Jamie Lou, she uploaded her covers of songs by Birdy, P!nk, Shakira, Rihanna, and more. Later, she adopted the Au/Ra moniker, taking inspiration from a character in her self-penned Lord of the Rings fan fiction. Her first single, "Concrete Jungle," bore a striking resemblance to Lorde, a "Royals 2.0" for 2016. She followed with "Outsiders," an outcast anthem that interpolated Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" into its lyrics. When his life was cut short in the early hours of February 19, 2020, Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was, at the age of 20, more famous than he’d ever been, yet nowhere close to where he was likely to end up. He exploded onto the scene in 2019 with “Welcome to the Party,” a song that somehow plays as enticing as it is menacing, exemplifying Brooklyn’s rising drill music scene at its sharpest. His voice across it—gruff and road-worn beyond his age—carries the delivery of a supervillain, daring his adversaries to try and stop the mayhem he has planned for the city.

Pop Smoke was from the far-flung Canarsie neighborhood, and his verses radiate a singular kind of Real Brooklyn energy. His slang (“sturdy,” “dap me up”) was largely New York City-centric, which helped songs like “War,” “Christopher Walking,” and “Dior” reverberate quickly through, and beyond, the five boroughs. Fans worldwide got indoctrinated upon accepting his 2019 debut project’s invitation to Meet the Woo; a sequel, Meet the Woo 2, was released just weeks before his death. Pop Smoke worked well with the stars of his city, nabbing collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Bronx heartthrob A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and fellow ascending voices Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. He’d even have no problem setting his own tone on his Travis Scott collaboration “GATTI,” from the JACKBOYS project. Dermot Kennedy’s rip-roaring, free-flowing folk-pop grew out of years singing over rowdy crowds at local bars and open mics and in the streets of Dublin. As a member of the British boy band One Direction, singer, songwriter, and actor Harry Styles topped the charts in impressive fashion, toured the world to play for millions of screaming fans, and sold albums by the bucketload before going solo in 2016 with his chart-topping debut, Harry Styles, and his similarly successful 2019 follow-up, Fine Line. Born in Redditch, England, in 1994, Styles was raised in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, and he made his first foray into music with a high school band named White Eskimo. In 2010, he left home and joined the seventh season of The X Factor, where fate (and Simon Cowell) would eventually lead him toward a life-changing opportunity with four other young men. As One Direction, Styles and his bandmates Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne would release five albums from 2011 to 2015, hitting number one across the globe and selling millions of records to an adoring and rabid fan base that drew comparisons to the fervor at the height of Beatlemania. Biography

The Pogues are an Irish band from London, formed in 1982 and fronted by Shane MacGowan. The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. MacGowan left the band in 1991 due to drinking problems but the band continued first with Joe Strummer and then with Spider Stacy on vocals before breaking up in 1996. The band reformed in late 2001, and has been playing regularly ever since, most notably on the US East Coast around St Patrick's Day and across the UK and Ireland every December. The group has yet to record any new music and, according to Spider Stacy on Pogues.com, has no inclination to do so.

Their politically tinged music was informed by MacGowan and Stacy's punk backgrounds, yet used traditional Irish instruments such as the tin whistle, cittern, mandolin and accordion.

The Pogues were founded in Kings Cross, a district of Central London, in 1982 as Pogue Mahone—pogue mahone being the anglicisation of the Irish póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse". - Wikipedia

Shawn Mendes once said the best advice he ever got about how to handle pre-show jitters came from his then-tourmate Taylor Swift. “Just remember,” Swift said. “Everyone’s here to have fun.” Fun? Yeah, sure. But they were also there to see Mendes perform, share his feelings, bare his soul. “When you’re writing something super-honest and about people you care about and things you’ve been through, the last thing you want to do is re-live upsetting experiences,” Mendes told Apple’s Music around the release of his 2018 self-titled album. “But that’s the music that travels and connects with people.” And therein lies the rub. Soulful but soft, wholesome without sounding like he’s hiding something, Mendes is the rare artist who has managed to find audiences in both the teen-pop and adult-contemporary set, blending singer-songwriter conventions with the lighter sides of R&B and dance music, bucking trends in part by ignoring them to begin with.

Born in the Toronto suburbs in August 1998 (a Leo—confident and optimistic), Mendes started out by uploading six-second covers of pop songs onto the video-sharing service Vine. Like Justin Bieber on YouTube before him, he navigated the leap from covers to original material, from making content to forging a career, modelling himself on the sound of artists, like John Mayer and Ed Sheeran—superstars whose charm lies, in part, in how un-super they seem. Within a couple of years, he released his first album, Handwritten. Success was huge and immediate.
