It's somewhat Christmas inspired but I don't think it's specifically a Christmas song, I expect it'll hang around after the big day!

Interestingly, Brenda Lee has surpassed Mariah on the US Spotify chart as well.

 

Jingle Bell Rock overtook it today as well, but it's pretty close, 150k between those three.

I think the Lil Nas X song will probably have a bit of a dropoff after Christmas, it's not explicitly Christmas related enough that it can't continue charting but it has still kind of been marketed as a Christmas song with the music video and whatnot. I hope it will at least climb into the top 40 anyway after stalling just outside for so many weeks.

There’ll be huge Christmas Day streams on YouTube etc too presumably. I can see them doing 25k and the bar being very low. I mean Whoopty’s only been doing 25k per week and we’re saying it’s a #1 contender.

Does Spotify not see any increase in streams for songs of 2020 or anything t plus the nye party playlists?

Will The Kunts hold up on ITunes next week? If so could all those versions help it be No1 and force the Chart Show to consider playing it?

I think Wham and Mariah will be very close to number 1 next week. Tomorrow's streams will be enormous and there is a big push this year for shops to be shut on boxing day. So I think they will hold up better on the 26th as people will be at home.

Yeh that’s true, there’s a strict lockdown/curfew in this part of Ireland from tomorrow until the 2nd Jan so could lead to more streaming like in November, whether it is Christmas songs or something else remains to be seen!
