Don't leave me locked in your heart

9. Can't Get You Out Of My Head | 8.8 Highest Scores: 11: (Slowdown73), 10: (Nina West, Red Blooded Man, ___∆__, Pippa, dabblie, ready for it, Feel the Fever, Jade, Spiceboy, blacksquare, dandy, Liam.k, elf, Qween), Lowest Scores: 0: (Nick F1)

FINALLY we lose another Fever single & its a big one (well the BIGGEST one infact). At the #9 spot is Kylie's ultimate signature hit -Can't Get You Out Of My Head, released in September 2001 as the lead single from her 8th studio album. Written & produced by Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis & before the song was given to Kylie it was pitched to other artists such as S Club 7 & Sophie Ellis Bextor (although the latter later denied this claim). During the song's sessions Davis generating a 125 bpm drum loop using the computer program Cubase. Dennis improvised the line, which would be used as the hook. Upon release the song was critically acclaimed & became the biggest commercial success of her career by topping the charts in 40 countries worldwide, including the UK where it faced heavy competition from Victoria Beckham's single 'Not Such An Innocent Girl', which of course Kylie trounced her with first week sales of a whopping 306,000 copies against Victoria's 35,000 copies & of course would go onto sell over 1.3 Million copies there, becoming her biggest selling hit to date. It also became her strongest breakthrough in the USA, a region where she had previously achieved limited success. By reaching a #7 peak, her first charting hit in 15 years there.

What can I say about this iconic hit that hasn't already been said, even now after 19 years this has still held up incredibly well, aging like a fine wine with its hypnotic drum loop, pulsing bass, and, of course, that “la la la” hook we still can’t get out of our heads (pun intended). This was that career changing moment that finally put Kylie into the big leagues & not only was it a long time coming, but well earned as-well. With Kylie's alluring vocals manages to hold our focus from start to finish & set against that sleek futuristic production that's simple yet extremely effective & to date no other track in her back catalogue sounds quite like this & that's in no-way a bad thing as Kylie's the type of artist who doesn't repeat herself & with this she clearly knew she had something once-in-a-lifetime in her hands & no-one else could have sold this like she did. Yeah the over play did kill this for a short while, but even that will never take anything away from its legacy & in my opinion no-one else could have pulled this off the way Kylie did. For a lesser artist this would be it for them, but Kylie who was 14 years into her career by this point still kept delivering the goods long after this pop culture juggernaut.

What the song did for Kylie was amazing.

I remain a big fan of Can't Get You Out of my Head.

 Only #9 for the ultimate classic Kylie anthem!

I'm also surprised it's not higher. Surprising to me that it ranked lower than Better the Devil, Slow, All the Lovers, OANLT. and In Your Eyes :o

I did NOT expect Slow to land this high -- I thought plenty of fans disliked it. And I had no idea people loved On a Night Like This this much. :???:

And Nick F1 with the "0" for CGYOOMH... :kink: Side eye from all the fans <_< lmaooo

I think it’s just fatigue from overplay, I skip it a lot.

Slow and On a night like this are easily in my top 10 and Nick F1 generally rates all Kylie songs low anyway so no shock.

Can't get you out of my head is iconic in the fact it was so huge at the time and brought on lots of new Kylie fans. In terms of the song itself though I find it highly overrated and I would put at least 20/30songs above it.

It reminds me of Wannabe by the Spice Girls in a way cause its the song that if you asked a casual non fan to name a song it'd probably be the first someone mentions and is probably the biggest selling and most well known but there's far better songs by both.

There are a few songs better than Can't Get You Out of my Head but is up with Kylie's best.

8. Confide In Me | 9.16 Highest Scores: 11: (Nina West, Davidson, dandy, Qween), 10: (Red Blooded Man, ___∆__, Slowdown73, Jade, Spiceboy, blacksquare, Lukuzz, Liam.k, Dannyboy, elf), Lowest Scores: 4: (Feel The Fever)

At the #8 spot is perhaps Kylie's first big reinvention - Confide In Me, released in August 1994 as the lead single from her 5th self-titled studio album Kylie Minogue, as well as being her first release on a brand new record label 'Deconstruction Records'. After leaving PWL records after the release of her 'Greatest Hits' album, she felt she felt that her producers, the British trio Stock, Aitken, and Waterman were treating her "very much [like] a puppet in the beginning. The track's demo was developed in just under an hour by Brothers In Rhythm & it was deemed so good that it was used as the final version also, but with a few tweaks & embellishments. Originally the Saint Etienne cover "Nothing Can Stop Us" was gonna be the lead single in 1993, but it got scrapped, but did end up as the b-side to 'CIM'. Upon it's release the track received critical acclaim & experienced chart success by peaking at #2 on the UK charts, while topping the Australian charts (her first there since 1988). Elsewhere it hit top 10 in Finland & France, top 20 peaks in Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium & Switzerland, along with top 40 peaks in Netherlands & Sweden, then top 50 in Germany. Since its release, tha track has been noted by critics and publications as one of the most iconic and innovative singles from the 1990s era, & marked an important phase in her career.

Thought this would have been a sure fire top 5 rank here, but its 9.1 average is still a great result & in most over rates this would have been 3 for sure, just goes to show how strong Kylie's discography is as the entire top 8's got a average of 9. This is an epic number by all proportions & when showcased to the world in 1994 it caused quite a stir as not only is it unlike anything she's ever recorded before, but also goes against anything she'd done prior with its mixture of dance/indie-pop/trip hop along with middle eastern influences, it marked stark contrast, yet thanks to the brilliant production this was a very bold move that paid off to perfection. The beautiful full string orchestra and haunting vocals from Kylie herself, hitting notes and taking her voice places it had never been before. Simply mind blowing, if any moment where Kylie could be taken seriously as an artist and a pop star simultaneously, then this was it. Even now to this day it still resonates as one of the most important moments of her career. Magnificent in scope and a truly unforgettable moment that opened a whole new chapter and a rebirth.

Confide In Me was incredibly close to being one of my 11's.
I’m surprised in my arms is no10. There are many other singles which are much stronger than this rather average track!
I'm just happy my vote wasn't the lowest vote :kink: cuz CIM is not in my Top 10, or even Top 20 :kink: :kink:

Can you feel what I feel in me?

7. The One | 9.32 Highest Scores: 11: (___∆__, dabbile, Lukuzz), 10: (Nina West, Davidson, Slowdown73, Pippa, Simon, Feel the Fever, Jade, Nick F1, blacksquare, Tawdry Hepburn, Liam.k, Dannyboy, Qween), Lowest Scores: 5: (vibe)

At #7 we say goodbye to the lost classic gem The One, released in July 2008 as the fourth & final single from her 10th studio album X. Originally performed by Dance music group Laid & Emma Holmgren, but decided to give it to Kylie for her album. The track was sent to Richard Stannard, but the album's producers did not receive it back and waited for a total of 10 months, which would cause a delay in the album's release as it wasn't accepted until the last minute. Upon its release the song was given a remix titled 'The Freemasons Remix' & was to be accompanied with a physical release to coincide with the UK leg of the 'KylieX2008' tour, but was pulled at the last minute, receiving a digital only release which resulted in a lack of success on the charts by managing a #36 on the UK singles chart her first to miss the top 10 in a decade. Although it was given a release in Europe it failed to chart in most places due to a lack of promotion.

WHY wasn't this the lead single, this could have easily been a smash hit. Talk about a total missed opportunity. The song is stunning, commanding and stands high above its surroundings, its Kylie at her absolute best with her angelic and power vocals dominates throughout its entire epic runtime. The sleek production & simple yet lavish chorus really makes this club ready anthem all the more glorious. Its a shame that by the time this was released the album campaign was pretty much dead in the water, even with the fantastic remix by the Freemasons backing it up. One could only wonder what could have been if this was given a proper moment to shine.

The One not even in the Top 5 :o

:nocheer:

Well, I have one more "11" in the running -_-
