that's not what I meant, I mean it sounds like a final four drag race song, as in one of the ones the queens do at the end that has overly cheesy lyrics and the "yas slay hunnie yas mama" vibe to them. (Category Is, American etc)

What a smash, song of the summer. Giving the gays what they need this year.

First impressions - an overly produced mess.

The song definitely had potential but it just doesn’t quite work out.

 

I’m a fan of Mabel but I don’t think this kind of sound suits her. I thought DCMU and Mad Love fit her vibe well and she suited West Ten so I was hoping she would go more down the pop-rnb route.

 

Also the video idea is good but the dancing just isn’t great and seems too forced.

 

On another note I think Good Luck might be the next single and About Last Night is the album title.

I think that’s a bit of an overreaction.

 

Personally I don’t think it’s a bad song. I like it and it’s been stuck in my head all morning :lol: .

 

It’s just as a fan I wanted something more polished and that suited her better.

Yeah I get the criticisms about it not being polished, even as a massive fan of hers, I would have it a bit longer and have a pre chorus, but it's still a massive bop.

 

I have a feeling she will have better on the album tbh.

Yes! I always loved 'Booty Luv' and was gutted when 'Say It' flopped, still one of my tunes.

I didn't say there was. I'm just agreeing that stating your opinion like a fact and using hyperbole that it's the worst song ever and terrible is a bit much.

Very pleased with this on first listen. Mabel has the potential to be the next big British female with the right material.

I have a lot of feelings on this, for such a basic song :lol:

 

I mean, first of all, I’m addicted, can’t stop listening and will probably wind up being one of my most played songs of the year. That being said, I wish it went slightly harder, I completely agree about it sounding like a Drag Race song and the verses are terribly written.

 

It definitely feels very Hallucinate to my ears but, all of what I’ve said aside, it’s just so catchy and fun that it’s impossible for me to care about any of the previous paragraph. She’s improved in that video aswell, she was devoid of any charisma or star quality to my eyes in the first era, but I feel the label have STUDIED Dua Lipa in her how to re-invent a pop star who gives off the “go girl, give us nothing” teas, because she seems SO much freer and less awkward in this video.

 

All in all, not sure how this will do but I’m a fan even though it’s far from perfect!
