Kicking off my top 100 this year is Red Velvet with Monster. Technically credited to just two members of Red Velvet, Irene & Seulgi, this was from a mini-EP that the 2 released without the help of the rest of the group. It's been a hugely successful year for K-Pop in my chart, this time last year only Blackpink had made my chart but today, Red Velvet is the first of four K-Pop groups that we will see in my rundown. Out of the 4, this feels like the 'cooler' with a darker, sexier and dubstep elements. The whole EP is worth checking out woth 'Feel Good' being another standout track.

Revenge of the Dreamers III continued its domination of my charts this year with an expanded re-release gaining two more additions to my EOY charts. However, due to a music video release it also got this track from the standard edition of the album some attention. This is far from the best on the album but is still really fun. That's really where the album shines, lots of the tracks just feel like a bunch of mates enjoying themselves and it really comes across in the music.

Kanye didn't have a great year in 2020 with his failed presidency bid and numerous breakdowns on Twitter and there wasn't too much more to shout about on the music front either. 'Nah Nah Nah' might be the worst thing he's ever recorded and Wash Us In The Blood didn't really connect. It just felt like we've already heard this song from Kanye plenty of times before and Travis's feature was pointless. This faded for me very quickly. At least it has a good video!

One trend in 2020 was songs only charting for me due to a remix and this is one of the most notable example of this. The original was obviously a huge top 3 hit officially but I found the verses on it a bit lacking so replacing them with some new artists was intriguing. While 'Don't Start Now' & 'Physical' both seemed to be loved by everyone, neither made that much impact on my so I was a little worried heading into the album. I needn't have been though because the rest were all bangers and this is the first of two to make my EOY chart. Interpolating 'I Need You Tonight', the song perfectly treads the line between pop and dance and I feel like I didn’t give it enough of a chance. I did get a little sick of it in the summer but I'm back to enjoying it again now.

Giving Momentary Bliss a listen now, it's pretty much what I should have expected from a song featuring slowthai and Slaves! At least Gorillaz make it a little bit tuneful.

The first of three tracks from 'Rare' that have made the top 100 this year. Dance Again was an instant favourite from the album and got another boost after a video was released. There isn't too much to say about this one, it's just a really catchy and lively little pop track. Not essential by any means but never fails to put a smile on my face. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe 'Rare' actually outsold Bieber's latest album here in the U.K. which is something I'm delighted about. Never would have thought we'd see that.

After the brilliant 'Be Honest', I had high expectations we were going to get a new Jorja Smith album last year. We still might be waiting for that but at least we did get this bop in 2019. This does fell a bit like Be Honest, Pt. 2 and while it can't quite live up to the greatness of that track, this does still have a crazily memorable hook and deserved to do better officially. Popcaan's verse is a bit :/ though. It's a shame the superior 'Come Over' lost the war against Rudimental.

Those chart histories :o The first of five tracks from 'positions' to pop up is the highly anticipated 2nd collaboration between Ariana & The Weeknd. However this ended up being a completely different vibe than Love Me Harder. This is a pretty uncommercial R&B ballad in the vein of what we used to hear all the time in the 90's. The vocals here are insane, at times feeling like more of a sing-off than an actual song. Adlibs abound on this one!

Nines got 'his' 2nd hit in my chart but let's be honest this is for all intents and purposes an NSG song. Nines has 1/6th of the verses and is nowhere to be seen on the chorus. The song is a lot lighter and brighter than most of Nines's work and sticks out like a sore thumb on the album. You have to imagine this was only there to give the album a radio hit and Nines pratically confirmed as much saying "I was thinking about the clubs for real, and I wanted a club song [...] So I feel like I needed an ‘Airplane Mode’ on the album. We actually made three songs [...], but ‘Airplane Mode’ was the one for me because I had my eye on the commercial side". It works though because it's a tune.

Come Over was a decent effort from Jorja, Popcaan finally getting another Top 40 his as well! Giving Dance Again a listen now as well, quite liking that - was it ever pushed as a single? It does sound like something which could have done well officially in the right circumstances.

Back to back tracks from #1 UK rap albums. This one from J Hus feels so unique amongst everything I heard this year. The production in particular is insane with elements from old-skool reggae and dancehall coming together to make a proper banging bass that feels like it's attacking your ears. Hus flows effortlessly throughout the track and "You the one that I want, yeah, mi know, yuh know. She know I want her, she a fortune teller" is guaranteed to get stuck in your head.

Dance Again got a video but was never really pushed. I saw on Wikipedia that it was meant to soundtrack a basketball tournament that got cancelled in the US due to Covid. It would have been nice to see it chart though.

For the 2nd year running, AJ has 6 entries in my top 100 which just shows the power of constantly releasing :lol: This one is all the way at #60 in my points chart and is still in my weekly top 10 so it does feel slightly harsh ranking it this low. AJ has a few different styles he frequently uses and I'm always a sucker for the chilled flow he uses in the chorus here and in others like Psych Out & Butterflies. The verses here are a bit more hard-hitting so you get the perfect blend between his two main styles. Secure The Bag! 2 is a pretty decent EP over all but the 2 highlights are the 2 with Japanese related titles.
