December 16, 20204 yr I think Rihanna is/was the best pop star ever. At least since I can remember. But I think she will underperform, maybe full-on flop if she releases anything now. It's been too long I think. I guess that's my prediction for next year. Rihanna will release music but none of it will go top 10 (unless she collaborates with Drake, Eminem or Calvin Harris again, then maybe).
December 17, 20204 yr Oooh, I love these time capsule posts. Here's my predictions for 2021... - Little Mix will have a seventh album and it will hit #1. They will also go from strength to strength and have a big hit single that is a ballad. - Adele will come back, in the Q2 season. Will have a big hit album but not a #1 single. - Taylor Swift will have a collab with a big female singer, bets on Katy Perry. This could be from the new album or a stand-alone single. - Justin Bieber will release another album, will get panned both critically and commercially. - Spice Girls mark 25th anniversary with new Wannabe remixes and a deluxe album of "Spice" in November with new/unreleased tracks. - Eurovision will be bigger than ever this year, we will see a Top 40 hit in May for one of the songs. Another song in the contest (which won't do so well in our charts) will also get the highest points ever in a Eurovision show. Oh, and... - Mariah Carey gets another Number 1 next December. This will in turn spur the OCC to compile charts differently from 2022. See you all in December next year to see how right (or wrong) I was.
December 17, 20204 yr My prediction: I will come back to assess these predictions partway through the year and wonder why I still never get around to posting any actual predictions in these threads. Looking forward to it xx
December 17, 20204 yr There will be a rock #1 single Olny way I can see that happening is if Oasis reunite but there's more chance of Elvis making a comeback than that happening.
December 17, 20204 yr If it does happen it’ll be by a grassroots movement with new bands like Brit pop
December 17, 20204 yr I think Rihanna is/was the best pop star ever. I can't see that, isn't she still one of the most streamed artists every year despite not having released anything for ages? People love her, and I expect would be here for new music from her, I'm constantly wishing she'd come back. Unless any new music by her is completely uncommercial, I reckon it will do well, if anything because people will be eager to hear what sort of thing she's doing now after such a long break. Plus her career started long ago enough now that any comeback will potentially tap into the nostalgia market as well as her still being a big current artist. Young teens who grew up on Pon De Replay and Umbrella will be in their late 20s now, and will fondly remember growing up with her.
December 17, 20204 yr I don't think Rihanna will flop by any means but I do think we've been holding such high expectations of what her comeback will be like for so long now that I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't match them. It's hard to say though, she seemed to stop making music whilst she was still 'it girl' and I don't know if that'll work in her favour or not - will she pick up where she left off or have has the music industry moved on? Four years is a long time, especially when you consider Ariana has released FOUR albums in the time that's passed since Rihanna's last album. I'm sure there will be lots of noise when she does release new music and it'll get big first week streams, but beyond that I don't think it's quite so certain she'll be a big success.
December 17, 20204 yr Author she’s do a beyoncé most likely - have everyone talking about her but ultimately not getting a number one hit. keeping in mind that she won’t be doing basic dance pop and is at the stage of her career where she can make whatever she likes so it won’t nessesarily be hugely commercial.
December 17, 20204 yr I think the fact BELIEVE IT was a decent-sized hit earlier this year shows there's appetite for a Rihanna comeback - it wasn't far off the top 10, which far surpassed any previous PARTYNEXTDOOR single, even the preceding single which featured Drake! Rihanna's name on that song really drew attention to it, there's a definite appetite for new music from her. Whether it'd do well long-term depends on the music itself, but I can't see a new Rihanna single / album not having a strong first week.
December 17, 20204 yr Next month will be FIVE years since Rihanna released her last album Anti. I think anything Rihanna releases will be a commercial success because she is still such a huge name. I think she will release in Q4 next year with some sort of lead released around August. Apparently Adele will be starting the campaign for her fourth studio album at next months Grammys. The album is ostensibly expected to drop in Spring. Edited December 17, 20204 yr by Cognizant
December 17, 20204 yr Apparently Adele will be starting the campaign for her fourth studio album at next months Grammys. The album is ostensibly expected to drop in Spring. My prediction: this won't happen, just like it didn't happen the last 500 times people have said 'apparently Adele is releasing in [x month]'. Whatever the source for these persistent rumours is they clearly mean nothing at this point, I expect when she eventually returns it'll be a quick announcement out of nowhere similar to Taylor Swift's last two albums.

I've read Hits Daily Double shared some rumors like that, not that I am saying it's a reliable source!!!
December 17, 20204 yr Honestly I am not believing anything that doesn't come directly out of her own mouth after how many fake rumours there have been year after year
December 17, 20204 yr True. Also probably she won't start an era during these unpredictable times with covid...I am sure when she'll launch new album there'll be tour dates available right away and avoid all the logistic difficulties that others are going through with re-scheduling and cancelling!!!
