Reliving basically all of that late breaking Scherzland surge in about 10 minutes was pretty enjoyable! Congrats to another robbed runner up queen from 2020! Also very pleased to see Rontvia on the podium again with their bop.

 

Land of DW was not my cup of tea but in the spirit of democracy, congratulations on win nummer zwei!

congrats to land of dw! wasn't among my favorites (most of them ended up mid-table it seems) but won't argue with the results, a win is a win!

Additional fun Scherzland stat: they got 8 18s in the end which is the most for any song in 2020! (Smith & Thell, St. Lucia and EVERGLOW were previously tied for the most of the year each with 7 - impressive that Claudia Valentina outdid them all considering that unlike all of those she did not have any previous BJSC hits to her name thus not having an inbuilt 'fanbase' to speak of!) Looks to have been a strong month for countries getting new peaks, as well as Scherzland that's also a new high for both Rolloland and POPHub (the latter being in the top 10 for the first time nevermind the top 5), plus Why So Sirius just about beating the finish of their previous qualifier as well, congrats to all of those! :jump:

 

Aside from the great winner the results this month aren't the most aligned to my taste, only voted for four of the top 10 and two of those were in the lower end of my points, fab anyway to see FLJ making the top 10 (I thought for a moment the other week it could be a win contender but I guess it was a little too niche for that in the end) as well as Lookylion getting another great result and Klum Rep not underperforming for once! And although I didn't quite vote for it I am rather pleased that Tartford got a top 10 too, would never have called that doing so well! Capulets being yet another PJSC winner that's ended up in the 2-5 range here (while Indila remains the only song to have won both contests), need to tally up how many times that's happened as I think it's quite a few times now.

 

A decent enough showing for Utopia though a shame they fell a little short of the top 10 after my ~oh so bold~ prediction that they'd be challenging for it. Happy as well to see Caerfyrddia, Aeroche, Aelandor, Cumulonimbia and especially Jadakissnia in the top 20 (Jade conclusively proven to be the master of Belarusian post-punk, leaving Molchat Doma's result in the dust :cheeseblock: and that despite it coming so close to DNQing, would have been out if I'd even just given it a 10 instead of a 12! although it was pretty comfortably my 12 in the semi so that was never a possibility x) A nice showing for Wholune too, I was surprised at how negative the response to that on plug.dj was so glad to see I wasn't too crazy for being into it :lol: Skall also doing relatively decently to get a top 30 hit with this entry so I guess my only real disappointments this month (other than myself but we just about got the EOY top 5 so I won't complain xx) were Kathaldazia and Pagasa who definitely both deserved much better.

After one of my floppiest year getting a win is insane, thank you All so much!

I had 3 potentials this month - after some hours/days I decided that I need a 'win' for a change (not a win, just a 'win', which is basically a safe Q for me), so I ended up NOT sending a batshit crazy song.

Sorry Dan for snatching (and winning with your) January entry, I did know that you like 'Wetlands' (after deciding on it I saw that you posted the video in the dance forum), but I thought it's still worth being a bit cheaper this month.

 

Great hosting Cody, just casually passing wins to each other this year after UP, I'm down to repeat the same next year :lol:

 

Not too many in the top 10 I voted for, never thought that 'Find Me' could do so well - I liked it quite a lot (when I was 9), but I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now, but I think that the extended version is superior to the Radio/Video edit.

This was such a tense set of results, to think it came down to ONE POINT in the semi as well and I could have DNQd. It’s a shame for Hallelujah as it’s been on heavy rotation chezkm for weeks now, but I guess the non Christmas version might have gone down a little better.

 

Anyway well done on hosting Cody, thank you to all our voters in this contest and across the year! I’m so pleased that after 10 years in this there’s still lots of firsts (just a shame no 9th place yet).

It's so good. The leaning into the Christmas Carol concept, having other carols (particularly 'Carol Of The Bells') sampled just like 'Past' sampled Hark The Heralds... glorious stuff. Very pleased it was brought to my attention, I'd have missed it otherwise.
