Yeah i’m not a big fan of that song tbh but it’s still so nice to see someone have such a big breakthrough.. she’s killing it! The numbers are insane :o
She’s using being quirky to sell records! If you actually look back a year her whole persona has changed.

Calm down love, it’s so obvious she’s capitalising on being a ‘quirky’ popstR

Nothing to do with Little Mix, The Song is nothing special at all and you’re deluded if you think otherwise. It’s just a nice pop song.

Are you willing to tell everyone responsible for 658k streams that they're deluded? :P

For what it's worth I think Olivia seems like a lovely, genuine girl who clearly did not expect her song to blow up. Young people particularly the stan Twitter generation are very open about going to therapy, it's not using mental health to sell records, it's being open and relatable!

I love the song, too, it just keeps growing. I knew she had potential when I heard the stunning All I Want last year

Sorry but in what world is ‘Wait till I tell my therapist about how everyone likes my song’ not completely immature.

It’s a basic pop song people are deluded if they think ‘Drivers License’ is groundbreaking material.

I’ll stand by that statement...How is Drivers License groundbreaking or different?

There's another HSM: The Series star (Joshua Bassett) releasing his first single since last summer this week, I wonder how that will do? Probably not nearly as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if it makes the top 40 as well
It's a perfectly serviceable song but current hype seems excessive.

The best thing about it is that it means Ed has no chance of hitting #1. Better luck next time, ginge.

I think it's pretty likely his proper lead will be a big commercial song (especially after the performance of Afterglow, which nevertheless is a No.2 record) and will be an easy, mammoth No.1.

If anything, an underperformance - if you can call pushing out a not-hugely-commercial song midway through Christmas week and peaking at No.2 with it an underperformance - is good to push people with big aims for success like 'ginge', as in his eyes a low-selling No.2 will be a bit of a failure and will motivate him to do better and push harder next time.

I admire the track, but my niggling thing about it... its how drivers license is written is so Americanised  as compared to Driver's Licence

It's her ex... And basically the song is about him, and his new single is called "Lie, Lie, Lie".

The way this Olivia Rodrigo song is progressing reminds me of "Now You're Gone" by Basshunter in 2008.

The fact that it's something totally unexpected is what makes it more exciting from a chart perspective but I do have to agree with those that weren't sold. It is sounding better on second listen for me though.

I'm not against Ed or Bieber getting to #1 but it makes for a nice change seeing them behind other songs for once. Especially Ed.

Its like Eamon and Frankie situation

Yap!

He'll gain tons of attention this Friday I'm sure, and her song will rise even more. Smart for both of them.

Oooh ok, that might bring around some more interest in it then

Same applies to Sweet Melody, don't you think?

I agree totally! Sweet Melody is nothing groundbreaking nor have I ever claimed it to be? Your point?

What I’m saying is those that are claiming it’s a massive breakthrough in pop are deluded.

Well it is a massive breakthrough for a new young artist.. can't see why it's so hard to be happy for her?

You're the only person using the term groundbreaking? People are just saying its a great song and the number are showing many agree

Again I’ve not said this anywhere? I’m saying people that are claiming THE SONG is a breakthrough in pop are deluded.

Stop putting words into my mouth.
