Good to see Love Song going platinum - a real late noughties gem. It must be trickling well as it wasn’t even silver at the end of 2008.

Gold in September 2018 which works out as ~1.6k a week since.

Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia - Platinum - 2020

Madness - A Guided Tour of Madness - Gold - 2011

NKOTBSB - NKOTBSB - Silver - 2011

'Get Ready' sold 100k in 1969; 300k in total.

Not sure about the original sales for 'I Don't Want to Talk About It', apparently a chunk of its sales were missing in the year end list.

'Suge' joining the growing list of certified songs that never charted in the UK top 100, and doing it in relatively quick time at that. It's really shocking that never managed to break through at all here as it was a huge hit in the US. ('Welcome To The Party' as well, though that one did not chart in the US either)

A big  to 'Cosmic Love' going silver too! Florence's best song for me.

Welcome To The Party is another one that has gone very quickly to the silver certification despite not charting in the top 100 (ah, you just spotted that too lol). Whippin Excursion had more time but also never charted, I was kinda surprised that hadn't been certified already.

2 questions :)

1. How are the streams working towards double A side singles when it comes to single sales/certifications etc? When a double single has x amount of physical copies are the streams of the songs added to those sales? Are they counted as totally separate items or both songs are considered the sales of the physical and are added separately the streams? Also the downloads should have similar situation

2. Do the artists get credited for fan videos in youtube ( not vevo official ) as sales for videos with huge streams?

Some mid-late 2000's classics getting certifications the last couple weeks with Crazy Chick, Love Song, That's Not My Name, Lay All Your Love On Me (a movie soundtrack song from a jukebox musical doing this, iconic!) & Cry Me Out

Also stanning Maren getting a silver certification with The Bones!! That also never went top 100 here right?

Also here for 2x Taylor ofc, Love Me Or Leave Me, When Will My Life Begin & Die Young (I forgot how well this did, didn't think it'd be going plat anytime soon!), we love to see it

1) I think what usually happens is the first song gets the original physicals sales + whatever downloads/streams it achieved whilst the second song just has its downloads/streams total. In the case of Rod Stewart's double A-side 'I Don't Want to Talk About It' / 'The First Cut Is the Deepest', it would be 'I Don't Want to Talk About It' that keeps the original sales. I've seen this example a lot, however it wouldn't surprise me if the OCC don't stick to it.

2) Only official uploads count towards video streams, I believe.

Happy to see Marren Morris' "The Bones" doing silver. Also PCDs "React" too!

React :o Pleasantly surprised The Pussycat Dolls are still capable of a single certification in the 2020s!

Surprised Work It is only gold, I thought it’d be a better trickle seller

Question. Do the conpany or the artist need to claim for a song/album to be certified? For example i see history of Westlife’s certifications and on some certain dates multible albums / singles were certified. How can this be explained?

Since July 2013, songs and albums are automatically certified when they pass the required amount of sales. Before then, record companies had to accept them and they could often be based on shipments rather than sales.
just realised Little Mix-Get Weird has been certified Triple Platinum

That answers my question because what I mentioned above happened in 2013. Thank u very much

'Gloria' sold 226k in the 80s; 426k in total.

'Everybody Hurts' sold 170k in 1993; 770k in total.

always found it odd that the song seemingly never crossed over / had no UK push - was a huge club hit and big chart hit in Australia. so I guess the Silver cert makes sense.

was never a big fan of the song though.

I can't say I've ever even heard of that Timmy Trumpet song oops

My highlight of the older songs randomly passing the silver milestone this week has to be 'This Is The Last Time', Keane's best song for me  also a few great recent songs going silver this week ('willow' and 'Save Your Tears' in particular), and love to see the new certifications for 'R U Mine?', 'Lost', 'Robbery', 'Strong', 'Get Ur Freak On' and 'Sunflower', lots of great stuff this week!

The new album certifications... are not as great :')
