We had a fantastic turnout aswell with 33 votes in Semi 1 and 32 votes in Semi 2. Also, thanks for getting Camden Cox and Noonie Bao through so I have three songs in the final, I was worried I'd be announcing three DNQ's. I think tonight's results mean nobody has more than three finalists aswell - Aeroche, Altyr Muunilinst and FARC also having three.

Not quite as much luck in semi 2 but 6/15 is still not too bad. Most of the ones that missed out aren't surprising but I am a little gutted at Hatari, Adiemus and De Grandi (especially since the latter was only denied by a deduction), all of those would have been excellent standout representatives for the best of the year. Still looking like a really good final anyway (not least because I got both of my songs through)! Reading back through the thread properly now I don't have to be trying to pay attention to plug.dj at the same time ~ thanks Jade for picking a random reveal order that happened to result in both of my songs being announced pretty quickly :lol: (although I see your 070 shade :angry: x) Disappointing to see COSBY ending up as the lowest ranking top 5 hit (they were pretty close to getting points from me!) And a belated yay for Krystal Klear making it (would have been a shame for Skall to lose all 3 of their songs, of course the other two were expected losses so excellent to see this one coming through) + KAS:ST, Aly & Fila, BRONSON, Lucia & The Best Boys, clipping. (those last 2 going through together *.* 2 of my biggest faves at once!), Tame Impala, MASTER BOOT RECORD and Susanne Sundfør out of ones I didn't already comment on - dance/electronic bloc coming through with some fantastic semi-surprise qualifiers among that bunch! I had a bit of an insight from hosting the quarter-finals that if any of the rejects would be making the final it would be Death Grips (spoilers: they were by far the highest ranking DNQ in the quarter-finals), very happy to see that actually happening and it's quite satisfying that we've ended up having exactly 1 DNQ survive through to the final round in both of the years that we have run this TBO format! There was one other dark horse entry that I thought had a very good shot of advancing as well but sadly didn't come through in the end, that being 'Renegade Breakdown' which despite missing the top 20 in its original contest actually came 2nd (!) in the quarter-finals here! I guess the participants in the quarter-finals must have just been a perfect storm for that song. Still a pretty decent result for it here I guess, and am also quite surprised at how well Oonagh did, I did think that was one of the year's most surprising DNQs so for it to be the 2nd most successful here makes sense but that's a big improvement from the quarter-final where she only scraped through in 20th place! As it were it seems 'Hacker' is the only song in the TBO final that didn't make the top 10 of its original contest :o (although there is a little handful of songs that came 9th/10th, and so close to having another big curveball in the form of 'Cicciolina'!) Meanwhile poor brave TARO Bellamia having the only 2nd placer that failed to advance apart from '4:15' which was only booted out by a deduction :kink: Also Bray/Phil why did we make Rob a mod only for him to show us up as a bunch of amateurs like this!
January 22, 20214 yr Additional comment: it seems BJSC 128 and 130 were just unpopular in general, as they not only had the only two 2nd placers to miss out, but in fact they had no songs at all that got through this round so will only be represented in the final by their winners. Though curiously enough the contest immediately between those two actually has the most representation out of any contest with 7 of its songs making the final! All of the other contests have either 4 or 5 songs through.
