January 31, 20214 yr 'Song For No One' is... nice. I think I like it more in the context of the album as opposed to on it's own. It's about where I'd rank it tbh.
January 31, 20214 yr Same as Jonjo, pleasant song and I like the switch-up but not a big fave, perhaps a bit higher than I'd place it in fact.
February 4, 20214 yr Song for No One is ok... but verging on blah. I probably wouldn't play it outside of a full album listen.
February 5, 20214 yr Author 9 Always Been You GodO6kBK1m8 7.89 Highest score: 09.0 (Josh!, HarryEzra) Lowest score: 06.0 (...ready for it) The first of two songs conveniently placed on the track-list, ending in 'You', Always Been You is a beautiful song that really builds to a dramatic, epic chorus during each verse. We have the first verse that leads us in and takes us by surprise, and then it continues to build from there until we get to the final minute of the song where things really kick up a gear and Shawn's vocals sound sublime; you can just tell he means every word that he's singing. The live performances of the song are just as brilliant too (if not even better than the studio version?) - from Wonder: The Experience and Sirius XM. Again, like with a couple of other songs on Wonder, the lyrics don't really delve in and tend to just repeat themselves without actually digging any deeper, but I guess on the surface we can appreciate it for what it is, and just how marvellous it all sounds. The production on this is definitely the best, and the start-stops give it that extra ~something~
February 7, 20214 yr By any own tastes this is going well so far! The bottom 5 songs of the rate results is also my bottom 5, albeit not in the exact same order. The next 8 songs to be revealed all received a score of 8 or more from me. Always Been You is very heartfelt and sweet, but not a major highlight for me.
February 7, 20214 yr I really like 'Always Been You' - it is definitely on the better half of the album.
February 13, 20214 yr Author 8 Call My Friends rpFjfpBZ-qA 8.06 Highest score: 10.0 (Jonjo) Lowest score: 06.0 (HarryEzra) Up next, and probably not to the excitement of Jonjo being down in the second half of the results, is Call My Friends, track 6 from the album that has somehow, mysteriously, been dubbed the third single from the album by Wikipedia and some other random sources. So far, it's definitely not the official third single, so we can rest easy knowing Teach Me How to Love is still in there with a shot. About the song itself though, Call My Friends is a beautiful, reflective moment where Shawn parts from the love songs and takes a moment to appreciate his friends, wondering whether he should call them up, just go and forget about the world and do all the things that they enjoy together. In an unusual take from Shawn too, he also mentions getting high (the growth into adulthood!!1) - it's another song on the album too that has pretty jarring production, but somehow it all just works and comes together magically to create a song you just need to keep going back to.
February 14, 20214 yr Ohhh Call My Friends should be in the top half of the results  My favourite part of this song is perhaps randomly the second verse, I love how the instrumental sounds during it.
February 14, 20214 yr 'Call My Friends' is so good and probably the most interesting thing he's done, at least production wise! I'd welcome it as a single, but I would probably say hold off until single 4, if they were going to push it! TMHTL is a lot more radio friendly and would get back the casuals I think, then take it one step further with this as the 4th single.
February 14, 20214 yr Author 7 Piece of You lPceNLvS7sQ 8.11 Highest score: 10.0 (Calum) Lowest score: 06.0 (...ready for it) Into the top half of the results now, and shockingly Piece of You ends up only seventh! Described as an outlier on the album by Shawn himself, Piece of You sees him lean more in an R&B direction, an indication that if he were to release more songs like this then I'd absolutely swallow them up. The song is sexy, seductive and is screaming out for a music video that has him walking around asserting his authority with no top on, getting jealous over a lover receiving attention from everybody in the room. The song isn't too dissimilar to something you'd expect the likes of a young Justin Timberlake to release, and as it builds towards the end it just keeps sounding better and better; for an album full of songs about loving somebody so much, the departure from that verging into over-protectiveness and 'jealousy' actually seems the most natural and endearing, however odd that might sound.
February 20, 20214 yr Such a seductive bop *.* It definitely adds some variety to the album and it's good to see him pushing out of his comfort zone.
February 20, 20214 yr Author 6 305 ti0cWh_9yGQ 8.50 Highest score: 10.0 (Jonjo) Lowest score: 07.0 (...ready for it) We have a tie in terms of average scores for 305 and the next song, however I've separated the two by the number of highest scores received, and as 305 received only one 10.0, it finishes in sixth place. 305 was an intriguing title, so immediately when the track-list was being teased and announced, it was one that I, and I assume many others, wanted to hear to see what it was all about. The speculation began about what 305 could possibly mean too - in the lyrics of the song itself it refers to the time of day, however many others also noted it's the area code for Miami; being another nod to Camila. 305 is such a breezy, light and fun pop song that doesn't take itself too seriously. Shawn still has a moment towards the end where his vocals just lose control and sound more incredible than ever, but for the most part it's one song that takes you by surprise because you weren't expecting it to be just that amazing. It holds up really well among the rest of the songs on the album too.
February 20, 20214 yr What a bop! I feel like it's the 'When You're Ready' of this album in that I don't think its a fan favourite, but I absolutely love it!
April 20, 20214 yr Author Top 5 results will be coming IMMINENTLY :o I know you're gagging for them x
