I don't know if 'Instant Crush' would have been that big of a hit but it would definitely have been a better choice.

I don't think it'd have done much (if any) better in the UK singles chart at the time, but it's been a clear cult hit over time worldwide - 300m Spotify and 424m YT – in comparison LYTD is only on 207m Spotify and 164m YT.

'Instant Crush' was easily the best thing from that album, would have made such a better second single than 'Lose Yourself to Dance'.

Lose Yourself to Dance was awful.

Motherboard was my favourite song on the album. The arpeggios after the breakdown blow my mind.

Yeah, I think in the long term it would have been better to look back on the era and think "'Instant Crush' might have flopped but at least it was a great single" rather than "'Lose Yourself to Dance' flopped and it was clearly an attempt to recreate the success of 'Get Lucky'".

This is sad, a shame that they didn't at leeast put out a final single, feels rather anticlimactic that they return after disappearing for nearly a decade, just to announce that they've split.

In my Best of Daft Punk I don't include One More Time or Get Lucky.

^Not gonna buy it then :D

but don't think their Best Of, which they released mid 90s, was very good or complete

:(

In my Best of Colm posts on BuzzJack I don't include this post.

I never liked One More Time. It and Too Long are the weakest songs on Discovery, for me.

Get Lucky was great for about 3 weeks, then Pharrell's voice started to grate. I'd love a version with just the robot voices.

oh I just remember Daughter did this amazing and very subtle version of Get Lucky

really original and unexpected

could listen to this on a loop for ages, Elena's voice is so haunting and the total opposite of Pharrell :)

Download Album Chart

25th anniversary rerelease of Homework coming up I presume as that’s its album cover art. (edit oh wait I’m mistaken, its just their logo which happens to be very similar to that cover art but not exactly. but it is 25 years approx since that album release)

or as Wardy says could be nothing more than marking the anniversary of the split announcement.

I wouldn’t get hopes up for a comeback slash new material.

I had posted somewhere on this site recently that vinyl releases were coming for their albums in April so that's what that'll be

Good morning.

WDPK 83.7: The sound of tomorrow, the music of today, brings you exclusively Daft Punk's Homework!

Just dug out my CD of Homework. <3

I think I will always prefer Discovery but that was the one that I bought first, and was the first album that I ever bought with my own money - fond memories of spending the family holiday that summer of 2001 wearing out the CD until my Mum and Dad were sick of hearing it.

Going back to Homework I think “Revolution 909” was the track that hooked me in many years later, although I obviously remember loving “Da Funk” and “Around The World” at the time- both had huge Radio 1 play IIRC. “Da Funk” actually went into the chart at #7 exactly 25 years ago: http://scans.chartarchive.org/UK/1997/UK%2...01997.02.22.pdf

I missed the stream as I was working. : (

But I've found their essential mix from March 1997
