Jersey suburbs, orthodox Muslim household, parents working their way through corporate America, wanted to fit in, couldn’t. She got bullied for wearing a hijab after 9/11 and became the kind of teenager who, on at least one occasion, drew the cops into a chase while joyriding in the family car. “[My parents] were only strict because they were reasonable,” she told Apple Music in 2017. “Like, they’re black, they come from the South and Midwest, they don’t come from anything…they’re not tryna take a gang of risks.” That Rowe had her own ideas about how to live didn’t help. “I rebelled really hard, and I learned everything the hard way,” she said. “I’m very hardheaded, very curious.” It’s a balance—rebellious but insecure, expressive but self-conscious, dreamy but alert—that has made Rowe resonant, but also an anomaly, the kind of artist who doesn’t ignore her quirks or contradictions, but brings them to the table in all their messy human glory. After self-releasing a couple of EPs in her early twenties (she took her name from the Nation of Islam’s Supreme Alphabet—Savior Zig-Zag Allah), she became the first female artist signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, joining future collaborators Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock. Released in 2017, her debut album, Ctrl, put her at the vanguard of contemporary R&B, mixing the expressivity of classic soul with a hazy, synth-heavy atmosphere and a playful sense of lyricism that brought Rowe’s inner monologue out. “Even with the heels and tighter clothes and other things, I’m still just me,” she said. “I still have a lot of anxiety about the world, and my thoughts, and what people think about my thoughts.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2016 88 Consideration (Rihanna feat. February 26, 20215 yr So that’s 60 weeks (albeit non-consecutive) in the Top 40 for Blinding Lights!? What’s the record?
February 26, 20215 yr SZA haters should be thankful Haus isn't hosting this week as well! :kink: (I think it's a lovely little track myself!)
February 26, 20215 yr 'Prisoner' does feel ancient now. It's a fun bop but completely inessential, they've both done better.

February 26, 20215 yr 19 | 16 | 3rd week Digga D and AJ Tracey Bringing It Back 3rd single from Made In The Pyrex Released: 4th February 2021 Label: CGM Records Chart Statistics NE (18/02/2021) | 5-16-19 Sales: 40k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 31 Sales 07 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video ZquDW-b1A7g Biography Digga D U.K. drill MC Digga D spits gritty bars over low-end bass lines, trading in the dark, often violent lyrics associated with the genre. Digga D first emerged as part of West London crew 1011 before releasing a string of solo singles in 2017, including "Kill Confirmed," "Play for the Pagans," "No Hook," and "Next Up." The Metropolitan police launched a campaign to remove all of his videos in 2018, after they amassed significant views. This backfired, as Digga D fans re-uploaded them in multiple locations, leading to the police issuing a CBO (criminal behavior order) to the artist; this required him to screen all of his releases through the authorities, where they would not permit anything that incited violence against individuals or even certain areas of London. Singles that went through this process include "No Porkies," "Mad About Bars," and "Who?" Digga D was in and out of prison multiple times from 2017 to 2019; he was incarcerated during the release of his debut mixtape, Double Tap Diaries, in 2019. - Apple Music AJ Tracey West London grime MC Che Wolton Grant (aka AJ Tracey) rose through the ranks of pirate radio, becoming one of the leading figures in U.K. grime's second generation of artists. Grant knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in music, due in part to his parents; not only was his dad a former rapper from Trinidad & Tobago, his mother was a former drum'n'bass DJ from Wales. By age six, Grant had started writing rhymes, coinciding with the first great boom in grime. Although the genre temporarily lost its way, Grant soldiered on, unwilling to give up on his passion for grime. By the time he had reached his early twenties, grime had started another upswing. During this time Grant became proactive in his pursuit of radio spots, working his way up through pirate radio before scoring appearances on Rinse.DM, NTS, and eventually even BBC Radio One. With his reputation in the world of radio firmly cemented, Grant released a string of EPs, beginning with The Front EP in July 2015, followed by the Alex Moran EP later the same year. In 2016, he further solidified his status as an emerging talent, with a combination of solid collaborations, more radio appearances, and the release of the Lil Tracey EP. The end of 2016 culminated with Grant's nomination yo BBC's Sound of 2017. That year saw him release a handful of EPs and singles including Secure the Bag and "False 9," as well as dabbling in production on "LA4AWeek." The following year Tracey delivered his first U.K. Top 20 single, "Butterflies," followed by the Top 40 single "Lo(v/s)er." Alongside the release of the singles, Tracey also worked on his debut album. The self-titled release dropped at the beginning of 2019, featuring a wide range of influences, including Afrobeat, dancehall, and country. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Digga D 2019 20 No Diet -1- 2019 54 P4DP -AT- 2019 28 Mr Sheeen (Digga D & RUSS) -NAS- 2020 24 Woi -1- 2020 18 Chingy (It's Whatever) -2- 2020 59 Daily Duppy, Part 1 -NAS- 2020 49 Be The One (Rudimental feat.
