Silence is indeed great, although I prefer pretty much every other version to the Airscape mix that was the hit in the UK. The Fade and Tiesto versions in particular
Yes, the Tiesto remix is excellent! I do really like the Airscape mix as well though, but I'm just pleased it got to the final!

32. Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance

Average score - 6.613 (more 11s)

Writers - Neneh Cherry, Cameron McVey, Jamie Morgan, Phillip Ramacon

Top scores : 11 - Leonardo, 10 - dandy*, Bjork, Mango, brokenrecords, AH Gold, JackJones

Low scores : 1 - detonate, xajnipi, jszmiles

This started out life in 1986 as 'Looking Good Diving with the Wild Bunch' which was the B side of the Stock Aitken Waterman produced single 'Looking Good Diving' by the duo Morgan-McVey, the McVey half being Neneh Cherry's future husband Cameron McVey. This reworking involved Tim "Bomb The Bass" Simenon and featured samples from three songs including 'Buffalo Gals' by Malcolm McLaren. Neneh has done much better here than her daughter Mabel who only scored 25 points in the first round with her number 3 'Don't Call Me Up' and she still has another song to come.

31. Tina Turner - What's Love Got To Do With It

Average score - 6.641

Writers - Terry Britten, Graham Lyle

Top scores : 10 - ready for it, marcinjaro, Nick F1, AaronTM, Simon, Shaky1981, West

Low scores : 2 - xajnipi, Achabaan, jszmiles

After being rejected by Cliff Richard and Donna Summer, the first recording of this song was by Bucks Fizz. Before their next album was ready, Tina Turner's definitive version was recorded and put out so the Bucks Fizz version was shelved until 2000 when it was finally heard on a re-issue of one of their albums. The song won the Record of the Year and Song of the Year awards at the 1985 Grammys.

30. Green Day - American Idiot

Average score - 6.651

Writers - Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Tré Cool

Top scores : 10 - Grandwicky, Chez Wombat, Jade, Nick F1, detonate, Shaky1981, RabbitFurCoat, Dot Branning

Low scores : 0.5 - JulianT, 1 - Dante77, jszmiles, Adelita

From 2004, this was Green Day's 14th top 40 hit. It re-entered the chart at number 25 in 2018 after a campaign to coincide with Donald Trump's visit to the UK.

Agreed. Although 'Buffalo Stance' is more brilliant than the other two, that's one of my absolute favourite songs of the 80s, love everything about it B-) Mabel could never.

Glad Buffalo Stance managed a decent finish in this contest, one of my all time favourite. BRB, just gonna check out the Bucks Fizz version OF WLGTDWI.

EDIT: The vocals aren’t that bad, but the production is ATROCIOUS, I love it.

'American Idiot' *.*

The scores in this rate are feeling a little on the stingy side compared to most BuzzJack rates, I think?

Mabel is Neneh Cherry's daughter, who knew?!

Everyone. :P

Glad 7 Seconds is ahead of Buffalo Stance.

Not too keen on the 3 songs left yesterday.

I'm thinking Dua Lipa will win this.

There's perhaps a couple of reasons for that:

For comparison, in last year's #2 rate, the song placed 30th scored 7.051 which is 0.4 higher than American Idiot at 30th here, but as there were 100 songs in the final compared to 50 here, people may have distributed their votes accordingly, so maybe the equivalent is the song which finished 60th in last year's final, and that scored 6.531.

Then again, maybe some people just gave lower scores this time.

This is the first time I’ve participated and I thought the scoring was meant to be effectively a ranking rather than a mark out of 10, so my average score was close to 5 even though I thought it was a fabulous field.

I don’t much care for American Idiot though I love some of the others from that album, and overall when I ranked the 50 it was in the bottom 5, hence the 0.5.

So many great songs leaving, Silence, Buffalo Stance,...

can't believe there are people out there that listen to Buffalo Stance and think oh this is a zero song :/

but it's the same lately with all this rating threads, there are a bunch of troll people that give their three fav songs a 10, and the rest a 0, probably they haven't even heard them, it's just a trolling vote. It's obvious with a couple of people. Those votes should be filtered out and not counted. Said to see this :/

I think you've done the right thing. Anyone who spreads their scores out evenly will have more effect on the overall result. I always to that with my own vote. If someone gives most songs a high score, they are moving them all up by roughly the same amount so their vote doesn't effect the outcome as much. The same applies to those who give most of the songs a low score.

Same - I tried to give a fairly even spread using every number between -1 and 11 at least once or twice. I noticed some voters didn't give anything less than 5 or 6 which effectively just halves the power of the votes they're giving their favourites

I dunno I just felt like I should be honest and not have to look like a troll when I turn up as giving Dua a 0 or something. And this is coming from someone who usually doesn't have an off-switch for my manipulative game theory in board games and the like  Or alternatively, I already did so by not voting in the early rounds so the favourites of mine that did get through ended up higher than projected

29. Robert Miles featuring Maria Nayler - One And One

Average score - 6.689

Writers - Billy Steinberg, Marie-Claire D'Ubaldo, Rick Nowels

Top scores : 11 - jszmiles, 10 - Jester, Bjork, Mango, xajnipi, King Rollo, brokenrecords, JackJones, Campbell

Low scores 0 - Adelita, 1 - Dante77, detonate

I can't find the official video on youtube so here is the TOTP performance. From 1996, this was the third and final top 10 single for Robert Miles and one of two top 20 hits for Maria Nayler. If you've been keeping an eye on the writing credits, you will have noticed that one of the writers of this song also wrote Like A Virgin. The original version of One and One was recorded by the Polish singer Edyta Gorniak but it wasn't released until 1997.
