Always loved this song, albeit not quite as much as Children. It seemed to get widespread support in the earlier rounds so a bit surprised it's not made the top 20

I genuinely tried to spread my scores out, this final was too strong! (tbh in this case, it worked OK as most of my few low scores are out now x)

Shame about In Your Eyes and Move Your Feet going out so early. Paranoid Android I shamefully only heard fairly recently as part of my bucket list of songs, but it's great, as if we'd ever get something as creatively bizarre as that that high these days!

28. Bryan Adams featuring Melanie C - When You're Gone

Average score - 6.717

Writers - Bryan Adams, Eliot Kennedy

Top scores : 11 - vibe, Campbell, 10 - chrissmith276, Jester, Bjork, Mango, AaronTM, Mack, Ansel

Low scores : 1 - Dante77, Adelita, 2 - King Rollo

Melanie C's first single outside the Spice Girls and a 22nd top 40 hit for Bryan Adams. His first choice for the duet was Sheryl Crow but after she didn't reply to his request, he asked Mel C after bumping into her in a Los Angeles hotel elevator.

That's a shame, When You're Gone was such a 'guilty pleasure' song that soon became just a pleasure, I thought it would be a bit higher.

When You’re Gone is great! I don’t know if it’s the country vibe to it but I feel like it hasn’t aged at all.

Really like One & One as well.

27. The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love

Average score - 6.726

Writers - Holland-Dozier-Holland

Top scores : 11 - jimwatts, 10 - George.keh, AaronTM

Low scores : 0 - Jason, 1 -jszmiles, Adelita

From 1966, this is our oldest finalist. It was the Supremes' fourth top 10 single and their seventh US number 1. The song would go on to be a number 1 single for Phil Collins in 1983.

There go the 60s... You Can't Hurry Love has long been my favourite Motown song, it did better than I originally thought it would in this final.
but it's the same lately with all this rating threads, there are a bunch of troll people that give their three fav songs a 10, and the rest a 0, probably they haven't even heard them, it's just a trolling vote. It's obvious with a couple of people. Those votes should be filtered out and not counted. Said to see this :/

I can guarantee I've heard all songs in this final list and I didn't like lots of them. So, if this list doesn't represent my personal taste in music why should I give them high scores?

So, Buzzjack is a democratic place and all votes should be counted/considered. Unless you think exactly like Mr Trumph when he said: Stop that count! No, thank ya very much. :w00t:

Meh at The Supremes so high.

No complaints about these results since I last posted where a few of my faves dropped out early, a lot of them since are decent songs but it's about the right place for them. Most of the songs left are pretty good now - even after trying to spread my scores out, I gave more than half of the remaining songs a 7 or above (and only three of them got less than a 5)!
Absolutely one of my fave Motown songs for sure- I have such a soft spot for The Supremes and Diana as I’ve grown up listening to their music- You Keep Me Hangin On will forever be my number 1 however!
I like the Phil Collins version of You Can’t Hurry Love as it’s my earliest musical memory as a 4yr old in 1982 but you can’t beat the quality of the Supremes.

Same - I tried to give a fairly even spread using every number between -1 and 11 at least once or twice. I noticed some voters didn't give anything less than 5 or 6 which effectively just halves the power of the votes they're giving their favourites

I try not to give an excessive number of 9s/10s in rates to avoid diluting the scores of my faves but I don't go as far as giving <5 scores to songs that I don't feel deserve that low of a score just for the sake of it (apart from using my -1 on a song that's really more like a 2 in this rate just because I might as well use the -1). There were only a small handful of songs that made it this far which I genuinely think were worth less than a 6/10.

'One & One' and 'When You're Gone' - two pop classics right there

Was it Whitney that 'One & One' was originally intended for? I know it was someone big like that.

FFS, Adele Eater's rate should have been vetoed on the grounds of obvious trolling. They've literally just given everything a 0 or a 1 (probably because they haven't heard most of the songs and just wanted to boost the two or three they actually knew).
"Adele Eater" now there's an image I've got in my head that I'm not sure I wanted!

Hi! Are you Bjork's alias? ;)

Because surely there can only be one person who thinks rates where you give nearly every song a 1/10 are probably trolling xx
Maybe a straightforward +50 to +1 ranking where everyone has the same weighting is something to consider in future. It’s still a fab contest though - really enjoying it King Rollo. :)
