July 4, 20214 yr I know right! I really think this could be my favourite album of the year so far. I really hope she can at least get a decent first week position in the UK
July 5, 20214 yr #5 in the first set of mids! It must continue to do well :'( The album is too good to ignore! Going to get the pink vinyl to help the cause
July 5, 20214 yr It’s the perfect shade of pink, you need it Haus! Apparently it’s on less than 2K at #5 so could well slip quite a lot :(
July 5, 20214 yr Decided to give this a curiosity listen. She is someone I've never really had any kind of opinion on really. I've heard her past albums through work but that's about as much exposure as I have had to her before... Very impressed on first listen. One of the tighter and more cohesive bodies of work that utilises the whole 80's pop sound effectively. I don't have a particular favourite right now, but 'Before The Dawn' stuck out to me. 'Got Me' is VERY MJ! It must surely be the closest a song can get to another song without being an official sample? It's executed wonderfully and masterfully. It's not done just to jump on a trend. Great stuff.
July 6, 20214 yr The positive reception here for her album has really made me curious to check it out! She hadn't been on my radar recently, I've sadly not seen/heard anything from this era yet, but I'll rectify this soon *.* Pink Noise is #7 in today's midweeks with 2,170 sales (864 CDs, 767 Vinyl, 327 Downloads, 172 Streaming, 40 Cassettes). Those cassettes are on the low side which makes me wonder if some haven't shipped yet, or if it just hasn't been an appealing format. Looking at the data, it seems that it could dip to #13 or #14 by Friday, maybe a little under 3k total for the week.
July 6, 20214 yr Just bought the 2x cassette bundle off her website! Comes with a free signed art card *.*
July 6, 20214 yr I adored Green Garden and enjoyed Overcome but I never really got into anything else or, at least, never gave it a chance. I saw a lot of buzz around Church Girl though, and she came across so well on the Table Manners podcast (I hadn’t realised she’d been dropped from her previous label), that I was eager to check it out and I’m so glad I did - the production is heavenly. Got Me is a massive highlight - a big pop moment that should really have a big push behind it. The whole album is so good, the sound really suits her and it feels like she really found her groove.
July 6, 20214 yr Ordered the vinyl! Utterly obsessed with this album. The final 3 tracks in particular are I N C R E D I B L E. I think 'Magical' is possibly my favourite album track - those powerhouse vocals! While 'Got Me' is the big bop *.*
July 7, 20214 yr This is a fantastic record, I have always loved Laura since I heard 'She' for the first time (that voice!) and it's good to see this getting a lot of acclaim. Just wish she would be doing a tiny bit better charts wise, she deserves it.
July 7, 20214 yr The video to 'Got Me' is FANTASTIC. THAT is how you take inspiration from your 80's idols. Obsessed. CJohzGzstag
July 7, 20214 yr Keep discovering more with each listen. What an album! Here's my v short appreciation review: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRCN5VcJHQi/?ut...edium=copy_link
July 7, 20214 yr Author Pretty shocked at the appreciation for this album since it’s release as I thought when I made the thread the lack of replies meant people weren’t fussed!
