I didn't even take part in the contest during the edition, but Margaret Berger's "Will You Remember Me Tomorrow?" (and the accompanying album) is by far my favourite discovery from this contest!

THE PRODUCTION

Hard to pick just one discovery but I think it would probably be this from Nickodonia, way back in 2010 and the first contest of that decade. Both this song and the parent album became all-time favourites of mine.

 

(honorable mention to when Yu sent f(x) - 4 walls into the contest which gave me the opportunity to check out the mini album with greater detail - that mini album is the most well-crafted album in K-pop history *.*)

 

from Zechonia all the way back in 43 (my second contest), it's stuck with me since just cos I'd always been so chart-focused up to the point and it opened me up to the more unique sounds one can find outside of that and indeed enter. It pretty much informed my eclectic taste you see today! :o

For a song that I have never heard of or included in my NMF playlists, this really ends up high (a peak of 2nd position) in my chart:
