July 30, 20214 yr I'm thinking of getting a NOWTV package so I can watch Chernoble... this has made me more interested! The best is a special song for me it was my grandfathers favourite song and when I was a child he told me and my cousins he wanted us to sing it at his funeral. I did his eulogy at his funeral some 20 years later and I mentioned about this story and then followed up with "grandad was deaf like me so he didn't realise how bad we would all sound." We played it at the end for him, it took me several years to be able to listen to the song again. It is still hard to listen to now but it does make me smile rather than cry! Did you watch it?

May 24, 20232 yr Author The legendary Tina Turner has passed away  Singer Tina Turner has died aged 83, her spokesperson has said. In a statement, they said: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model." The US-born star was one of the best-loved female rock singers, known for her on-stage charisma and a string of hits including The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What's Love Got to Do With It.
May 24, 20232 yr RIP Tina. Insane to think how she completely started her career over and had such huge success after her divorce from Ike. I never realised Foreign Affair (5xPlat) was a bigger success in the UK than Private Dancer (3xPlatinum).
May 24, 20232 yr I absolutely love "I Dont Want To Fight" and "When The Heartache Is Over" RIP queen of rock
May 24, 20232 yr She is one of my favourite singers ever quite saddened by this. RIP to an absolute legend.
May 24, 20232 yr RIP Tina. I saw this on Instagram just now, very shocked. Private Dancer is my favourite from Tina
May 24, 20232 yr Sad to hear 😞 an icon. I still remember when 'The Best' re-entered that week in 2010. Good moment!
May 24, 20232 yr I haven't listened to an album of hers, but I did grow up with a handful of her songs ("Proud Mary", "The Best", "What's Love Got To Do With It")
May 24, 20232 yr I basically grew up on Tina Turner as my Dad was a huge fan, I have very young memories of watching her concerts on the TV. Really sad news
May 25, 20232 yr 'When The Heartache Is Over' is an underrated song by her. Just thinking of ones that most don't talk about much but it was on one of the first NOW albums I got at the time.
May 26, 20232 yr Legendary is an overused term, but hey River Deep Mountain High and the self-penned Nutbush City Limits are enough to justify it on their own. Her solo 80's stuff was a pleasant well-deserved bonus.
May 26, 20232 yr RIP Tina. Insane to think how she completely started her career over and had such huge success after her divorce from Ike. I never realised Foreign Affair (5xPlat) was a bigger success in the UK than Private Dancer (3xPlatinum). 1991's Simply The Best, her first compilation, is her biggest seller in the UK, 8 times platinum with actual sales over 2 million without ever reaching No.1. Peaked at 2. Edited May 27, 20232 yr by crazy chris
May 30, 20232 yr Author Tina's album positions and weeks in the Top 200, in the UK: 24.06.1984 - #02, 153 weeks - Private Dancer (5th solo studio album) 14.09.1986 - #02, 49 weeks - Break Every Rule (6th solo studio album) 27.03.1988 - #08, 13 weeks - Tina Live in Europe (Live album) 24.09.1989 - #01, 82 weeks - Foreign Affair (7th solo studio album) 06.10.1991 - #02, 412 weeks - Simply the Best (Greatest Hits album) 13.06.1993 - #01, 41 weeks - What's Love Got to Do With It (Soundtrack album) 27.11.1994 - #185, 02 weeks - The Collected Recordings (Compilation album) 07.04.1996 - #04, 51 weeks - Wildest Dreams (8th solo studio album) 07.11.1999 - #09, 30 weeks - Twenty Four Seven (9th solo studio album) 07.11.2004 - #06, 38 weeks - All the Best (Greatest Hits album) 08.03.2009 - #14, 14 weeks - The Platinum Collection (Greatest Hits album) 04.10.2009 - #43, 02 weeks - Tina Live (Live album) 09.02.2014 - #30, 07 weeks - Love Songs (Compilation album) 20.04.2018 - #48, 09 weeks - The Greatest Hits - interestingly this has the exact same track list as 2004's All the Best, but with a different title and different artwork It doesn't seem that Tina's first studio album 'Tina Turns the Country On!' (1974) was released in the UK. Albums 2 (Acid Queen - 1975), 3 (Rough - 1978) and 4 (Love Explosion - 1979) were released here... but none of them charted! What a comeback the 'Private Dancer' era was for her, at the age of 44. 'The Platinum Collection' could score a Top 10 peak this week, it is midweek #8 so far. 'The Collected Recordings' is on course to greatly improve on its 1994 peak too, it's midweek #12.
September 21, 20231 yr No joke, I typed "Tina Turner" into Google and it came up with "Did you mean: simply the best?". :o Came here to say I stumbled across Adam Lambert's tribute to Tina Turner and I love it! FVmTGUQUlkg
