I'm thinking of getting a NOWTV package so I can watch Chernoble... this has made me more interested!

The best is a special song for me it was my grandfathers favourite song and when I was a child he told me and my cousins he wanted us to sing it at his funeral. I did his eulogy at his funeral some 20 years later and I mentioned about this story and then followed up with "grandad was deaf like me so he didn't realise how bad we would all sound." We played it at the end for him, it took me several years to be able to listen to the song again. It is still hard to listen to now but it does make me smile rather than cry!

Did you watch it?

The legendary Tina Turner has passed away

Singer Tina Turner has died aged 83, her spokesperson has said.

In a statement, they said: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."

The US-born star was one of the best-loved female rock singers, known for her on-stage charisma and a string of hits including The Best, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What's Love Got to Do With It.

RIP Tina. Insane to think how she completely started her career over and had such huge success after her divorce from Ike. I never realised Foreign Affair (5xPlat) was a bigger success in the UK than Private Dancer (3xPlatinum).
I haven't listened to an album of hers, but I did grow up with a handful of her songs ("Proud Mary", "The Best", "What's Love Got To Do With It")
'When The Heartache Is Over' is an underrated song by her. Just thinking of ones that most don't talk about much but it was on one of the first NOW albums I got at the time.
Legendary is an overused term, but hey River Deep Mountain High and the self-penned Nutbush City Limits are enough to justify it on their own. Her solo 80's stuff was a pleasant well-deserved bonus.

1991's Simply The Best, her first compilation, is her biggest seller in the UK, 8 times platinum with actual sales over 2 million without ever reaching No.1. Peaked at 2.

27.03.1988 - #08, 13 weeks - Tina Live in Europe (Live album)

24.09.1989 - #01, 82 weeks - Foreign Affair (7th solo studio album)

06.10.1991 - #02, 412 weeks - Simply the Best (Greatest Hits album)

13.06.1993 - #01, 41 weeks - What's Love Got to Do With It (Soundtrack album)

04.10.2009 - #43, 02 weeks - Tina Live (Live album)

09.02.2014 - #30, 07 weeks - Love Songs (Compilation album)

20.04.2018 - #48, 09 weeks - The Greatest Hits - interestingly this has the exact same track list as 2004's All the Best, but with a different title and different artwork

It doesn't seem that Tina's first studio album 'Tina Turns the Country On!' (1974) was released in the UK. Albums 2 (Acid Queen - 1975), 3 (Rough - 1978) and 4 (Love Explosion - 1979) were released here... but none of them charted! What a comeback the 'Private Dancer' era was for her, at the age of 44.

'The Platinum Collection' could score a Top 10 peak this week, it is midweek #8 so far. 'The Collected Recordings' is on course to greatly improve on its 1994 peak too, it's midweek #12.

No joke, I typed "Tina Turner" into Google and it came up with "Did you mean: simply the best?". :o

Came here to say I stumbled across Adam Lambert's tribute to Tina Turner and I love it!
