Biography

If something good was to come from the pandemic, it is A1 and J1. Meeting on the App Houseparty in 2020, 15-year-old A1 from North West London now based in Coventry and 17-year-old J1 from Kent started their rapping aspirations together remotely, showcasing a zeitgeist movement from the repercussions of this year. Latest Trends launched as just a 15 second tease, going viral on Tik Tok, with social media comments begging for the song to be released in full. All organically and from 2 young, brand new artists the track now has grown and grown. Both A1 and J1 bring unique flows throughout the track. J1 with strong standout bars and A1 who brings the idyllic catchy chorus. Rap and R&B vibes are in full flow with the UK stamp placed on the track. Before they had thought about making a full-length track, the snippet was receiving 2000 organic video creations a day on Tik Tok. In a short space of time the boys had over 100k combined social following. The first week saw 250k views across all platforms. Rippling across media the snippet has taken off, now talking in the millions. With support from the likes of KSI, Deno, Darkoo, and JB Scofield there is no limit to how far this track will go. The people have spoken, and the record is here! This is only the first chapter of their story; the potential is limitless! - Spotify

Biography

Nathan Evans

Nathan Evans is a Scottish singer known for singing sea shanties. Evans first gained fame in 2020, when he posted videos of himself singing sea shanties on social media service TikTok, triggering a surge of interest in sea shanties. - Wikipedia

220 KID

220 KID is a producer/writer/DJ and artist from the UK. The 220 KID name was born after running 220 miles in bright pink pants for charity, after his beloved Godfather passed away. And after running that 220 miles he knew anything was possible. He was soon scouted as a model and has worked for the likes of Vogue, GQ, Nike, Reebok and many more, whilst continuing to develop and perfect himself as an established writer/producer. Over the past two years 220 KID has been working with Grammy nominated producer Grades, One Bit, Camden Cox, Billen Ted, Danny Shah, Jackson, and the infamous Scott Storch (Pink, Christina Aquilera, Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Dre, Sean Paul) to name a few. His broad musical ability has allowed him to write and produce with a wide range of artists also, such as Clean Bandit, Alpines, Frenship, Walking On Cars, Sheppard, and Camelphat, He has most recently been working with Daniel Skye, Jess Boykins III, Amanda CY, Gracey, Maverick Sabre, Bryn Christopher and Ivy Adara. Unquestionably 220 KID has a wide range of production skills, from epic string work to dirty house base lines. Alongside his fresh style of lyrical writing, he has the ability to make any pop song that little bit more ‘cool’. He's certainly one to watch. - Spotify

Billen Ted

Billen Ted are a production / writing duo working out of Ealing Studios, London. The duo, previously from Death Metal bands, have spent the last few years transitioning to dance and pop music and have produced / written records for the likes of 220 Kid (Don't Need Love), Hugel (WTF), MNEK, Sleepwalkrs and Melanie C amongst others. They have just released their first record Satisfied, paying homage to the late Prince by doing a feel good version of 'I Feel For You' - Spotify

Biography

There’s a moment in a 2020 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe where Justin Bieber begins—quietly, hesitantly—to cry. “It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turning their back on you in a second,” Bieber says, each clause kicking up memories like dust. The point isn’t to weep with or for him—he had more dreams come true in his first 25 years than most people manage in a lifetime. But he’s also one of the few pop stars of his generation to have truly grown up in public, weathering the cable newsification of celebrity culture in the internet era while still trying to develop as both an artist and a person. Even early on, you could tell he had his eye on the future, balancing a doe-eyed wholesomeness with earnest attempts at hip-hop and R&B, material that suited him as a kid with material that reflected his growth into adolescence and adulthood. Some teen-pop singers end up trapped in amber; Justin Bieber has, knocks and all, kept swimming.

Born in London, Ontario, in 1994, Bieber was famously discovered when his future manager, Scooter Braun, stumbled on some performance videos that Bieber’s mom had uploaded to YouTube to share with family and friends. Braun, who understood not only Bieber’s appeal but the potential of the internet, encouraged him to keep making videos and keep the equipment cheap—an approach that not only helped Bieber’s growing fanbase to understand that he was still just a kid like them, but drafted a new blueprint for how artists could reach audiences in the digital era. With the exception of a voice change around 2011, 2009’s My World, 2010's My World 2.0 and 2012's Believe are more or less of a piece: the sound of a boy trying to stick the landing into puberty. Released in 2015, Purpose showed Bieber developing a more thoughtful connection to his material, including collaborations with vanguard pop producers like Diplo, Skrillex and benny blanco. After a five-year break during which Bieber underwent significant personal changes—including a detox from touring life, a diagnosis of Lyme disease and a epiphanic marriage to Hailey Baldwin—he came back with 2020’s Changes. “People have been putting me on a pedestal,” Bieber told Apple Music. ""I didn’t ask for that. Obviously I love making music, but there are a lot of people that love making music and they’re not in the position that I’m in. I’m just trying to steward that wisely, steward my relationship wisely. I want people to take a look at my story—hopefully, my words can make a difference.” - Apple Music

Biography

The way Lil Nas X tells it, it sounds simple, almost mystical. “I was just kinda bored,” he told Apple Music. “I wanted to put something up. So that’s what I did.” Not only did the “it” in question—“Old Town Road”—become a global phenomenon (and 2019 Apple Music Award winner for Song of the Year), it prompted surprisingly pertinent conversations about how we define and classify music. Was it country? Was it rap? Cowboy anthem or LGBTQ camp? TikTok novelty or legitimate pop song?

It was, of course, all those things, and pity those who couldn’t live with the contradictions. Born Montero Lamar Hill in 1999, Nas grew up outside Atlanta but came of age on the internet, turning to social media and meme-making out of boredom and teenage loneliness—feelings compounded by his struggle to resolve his sexuality. (He later became the first artist to come out while his record was at No. 1, though he’d figured that between the rhinestones and rainbows and the general vibe, it would’ve been obvious.) “I didn’t know it was gonna do what it did,” he said of “Old Town Road” and its companion EP, 7. “But it did what it did.” - Apple Music

Lil Nas X lands a second week at Number 1 on the official Singles Chart with Montero (Call Me By Your Name).

With 62,000 chart sales in its second week including 8.6 million streams, the song finishes comfortably ahead of its closest competition, Peaches by Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar & Giveon (2) which climbs one place to a new peak.

Meanwhile, Russ Millions & Tion Wayne fly nine places with Body (12) – Tion Wayne’s fifth Top 20 hit, and Russ’s third – while Masked Wolf’s Astronaut In The Ocean (18) also reaches a new peak after climbing two places. Silk Sonic’s Leave The Door Open (20) climbs three to return to its Top 20 peak, and D-Block Europe & Raye speed up a further six places with Ferrari Horses (22).

Further down, Olivia Rodrigo scoops the highest new entry of the week with Deja Vu at 27, finishing just ahead of Majestic & Boney M’s Rasputin remix, which leaps nine places to Number 29.

Black Hole by this year’s BRITs Rising Star winner Griff rises four places to a new peak of Number 33, and Heartbreak Anniversary by Giveon is up three to Number 36.

Finally, Tom Zanetti climbs into the Top 40 with Didn’t Know after rising four places to Number 40. It’s the British DJ and rapper’s second Top 40 hit, following 2016’s Number 22-peaking You Want Me ft. Sadie Ama.

Boo at Joel being blocked from the top 5 by Friday and glad that TZ has scored his second top 40 hit

Heat Waves #21. Knew it :/

Also, Friday and My Head & My Heart adding more weeks at #5 at #19 respectively but of little interest when they peaked a single place higher.

Not a great week for Joel, blocked out of the top 5 by Friday and latest trends and he’s dropped out the top 40 to #41 with head and heart! :(

Biography

As Years & Years, Olly Alexander has become one of the world’s most trailblazing modern pop stars. Across two hugely successful albums to date, the singer, actor, and cultural vanguard has earned 5 Brit Award nominations, sold-out numerous global tours, and played triumphant homecoming shows at London’s O2 and Wembley Arena. Along the way, Olly has also become a fearless, once-in-a-generation voice on important discussions around mental health, and issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. This has been marked by a number of standout moments, ranging from Alexander's defiant speeches at Glastonbury in 2016 in the wake of events in Orlando to his BBC Documentary ‘Olly Alexander: Growing Up Gay’, plus the dizzyingly creative world around 'Palo Santo' (a record that arrived with an ambitious short film starring Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw). In 2021 Olly led the cast of critically acclaimed and huge hit drama ‘It’s A Sin’ (Channel 4/HBO Max). The show broke records on All 4 since its premiere, with over 18 million views to date (the platform’s biggest ever instant box-set) and received an incredible reception from fans and critics alike. Following the show’s broadcast, the Terrence Higgins Trust reported a four-fold increase in HIV Testing Week stats from previous years. Years & Years push boundaries by challenging notions of identity and sexuality in a way that is new to pop music - and totally Olly Alexander’s own. - Spotify

Biography

Nathan Dawe

Nathan Dawe is fast-becoming one of the UK’s most talked-about new dance acts. Buoyed by a huge fan base in Birmingham and the Midlands, Nathan’s regional pull has seen him sell-out 3000-capacity headline shows in the city’s 02 Academy, as well as curate the first ever, one-day 0121 Fest in the summer of 2019. That pull is now starting to transmit nationwide, with Nathan’s single ‘Flowers’ ft. Birmingham rapper Jaykae – a fresh twist on the UK Garage classic — spending 11 weeks inside the UK Top 20, peaking at #12 earlier this summer. Nathan’s new single ‘Lighter’ ft. KSI went straight to #1 on iTunes on launch and the official video, which also features Window Kid, S-X and Lotto Boyz’s Ash, racked up over 3.5 million views in its first 48 hours – it’s already shaping up to be one of the records of 2020. Both singles follow Nathan’s first Atlantic Records singles ‘Cheatin’ and ‘Repeat After Me’ ft. Melissa Steel, both of which spotlighted his ability to write crisp, infectious dance music. - Spotify

Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie’s bold, booming voice has resonated around the world, both as a consummate dance-music collaborator and a brassy pop powerhouse. Born Anne-Marie Nicholson in Essex in 1991, the singer/songwriter never thought she’d make it far beyond her small village, but she was already making waves in London as a child, performing in prestigious West End theatre productions and becoming a karate world champion. Such ambitions undoubtedly helped prepare her for major festival stages—which she’d soon dominate as a rising vocalist in the electronic music world. After being discovered by Elton John’s management company, Rocket Music, in 2013, Anne-Marie lent her skyscraping vocals to tracks by dubstep/DJ supergroup Magnetic Man, garage duo Gorgon City and drum ‘n’ bass hitmakers Rudimental, who invited her to guest on their 2015 album We the Generation and join their extensive world tour. Going forward, she’s been a go-to vocalist and songwriter, pairing up with artists like Snakehips, James Arthur, Nick Jonas, David Guetta and Lauv. But her biggest breakthrough came in 2016 with Clean Bandit, whose single “Rockabye” with dancehall superstar Sean Paul became a multi-platinum global smash, largely thanks to Anne-Marie’s honeyed croons and playful lyrics, which offer an empowering twist on single motherhood. Since releasing her 2018 debut album, Speak Your Mind, the singer has been building up an enviable catalogue of self-love odes (“Perfect to Me”), sassy club bangers (Marshmello collab “FRIENDS”), nostalgic pop love songs (“2002”, co-written with Ed Sheeran) and throbbing coming-of-age anthems (the Doja Cat-featuring “To Be Young”). Even as a solo star, she continues to have no qualms about sharing the spotlight. “I just think collaborations are beautiful,” she told Apple Music. “I don’t think collaborations will ever stop with me.” - Apple Music

MoStack

North London rapper Mostack shifted from making music about the streets he was raised on to focusing on deeper personal issues and broader social themes. Mostack first appeared on the scene in 2014, when he released the single "No Buddy" through Link Up TV's YouTube channel. The single quickly caught the attention of U.K. rap fans, leading to a tour in support of Stormzy in late 2015. The following year Mostack dropped his debut mixtape, Gangster with Banter, reaffirming his playful yet serious approach. He spent the rest of 2016 and early 2017 touring and building his fan base. In the summer of 2017, he dropped his second mixtape, High Street Kid, which featured guest spots from J Hus, MIST, Jigzz..., and Krept. - Spotify

Not a great week for Joel, blocked out of the top 5 by Friday and latest trends and he’s dropped out the top 40 to #41 with head and heart! :(

How ironic on the one week it wouldn't have been played anyway!

I don't understand why Don't Play is still in the top 10 and Patience is dropping fast.
