April 9, 20215 yr It’s gonna be one of those days when all the media will not want to be seen as ‘less respectful’ than anyone else, despite only 55% of Brits supporting the monarchy. Today will be pretty much cancelled. Netflix will get a hammering tonight.
April 9, 20215 yr This is gonna the best chart show yet :cheer: I predict King Nas X will reign supreme and Demi will be the album #1 due to a suspicious last minute sales bump Also there WILL be a chart countdown at 4pm, I’m gonna make sure of it :teresa:
April 9, 20215 yr :D :D Second number one for Lil Nas X- would have never imagined this after the death of Prince Philip. Well done to him.
April 9, 20215 yr No, 5:45 is when it will be announced Hoping, don't forget OCC have had a few wee problems lately ;) :heehee:
April 9, 20215 yr I went to tune in without realising it will obviously be cancelled! Understandable, I suppose.
April 9, 20215 yr If you want to hear a chart show today - as luck would have it Scott Mills hosted the chart show 20 years ago this week, filling in for Mark Goodier, and it's available on Mixcloud! https://m.mixcloud.com/Catweazle78/bbc-radi...r-8-april-2001/ Thanks for this! Listening now, and pretending I’m 16 again. :music:

April 9, 20215 yr This ain’t the first time the chart show got cancelled. It also got cancelled on Sunday 31st August 1997 when Diana died
April 9, 20215 yr It was an instrumental version they played after the news, not back in the top 40 thankfully :P
April 9, 20215 yr This ain’t the first time the chart show got cancelled. It also got cancelled on Sunday 31st August 1997 when Diana diedI was just about to ask this! In my years of listening, I think it's only been "cancelled" on rare occasions during Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Teen Awards etc. when they've been preoccupied with other things...unless I'm forgetting something! I'm really enjoying Deja Vu and was looking forward to hearing its debut, ah well. We never did get an apology from the poster who spoiled the #1 last week, did we? <_<

It's also been replaced with an end of year chart a couple of times I'm pretty sure.
April 9, 20215 yr The day Diana died is the only other time I can recall it being cancelled due to reasons beyond R1's remit to control. The day after The Queen Mother died in 2002, there was a chart show, but they skipped a lot of songs (which they never usually did in those days) including some new entries such as Sum 41's Motivation and anything else that was deemed not to fit the mood.
April 9, 20215 yr All BBC Radio channels 1-5 are carrying the same news feed until midnight. It'll be the same when The Queen dies then. Edited April 9, 20215 yr by common sense

Speaking of not fitting the mood, the Top 40 from 20 years ago Riser posted a link to starts with D12 and Sh*t On You - oops!
