Does make me laugh when it's suggested that Steps were some sort of novelty, niche 90s act.

Those album sales are no joke. They were a force.

And to still be legitimately in contention for number 1 albums 20+ years into their career is incredible, with arguably some of their strongest material too.

First week sales:

146,000+ Gold: Greatest Hits (#1)

111,000+ Steptacular (#1)

77,000 ("nearly 77,000") Buzz (#4)

41,000+ Step One (#2)

37,624 - Tears on the Dancefloor (#2)

34,200 - The Ultimate Collection (#1)

7,365 - Light Up the World (#32)

3,540 - Party on the Dancefloor (#18)

1,032 - Tears on the Dancefloor: The Singles Collection (#106) (#100 sold 1,071)

Tears on the Dancefloor sold 11,136 copies in its re-release week, reaching #8.

They will down a few thousand this time but not a huge decline, I had thought this album would outsell TOTDF opening.
It still might be there or thereabouts right? Weds and Thurs sales of 3k a day would take it to 36.5k, so if there’s any type of push today you never know?
Debuts at 26 here in Ireland which is disappointing as Tears on the Dancefloor made it to Number 10 on release week.

No mention of sales for Steps but Gary Barlow sold 46.5k. That's 4.5k up from the Thursday update (which was up 4.6k on the update previous). Steps sold 4.5k on Wednesday so, assuming they too managed similar sales on Thursday, they should be on ~39.5k.

Edit: What the Future Holds entered at #2 in the UK and sold 37,394 copies in its first week, just 230 copies behind the first week sales of 'Tears on the Dancefloor'! No totals or precise first week sales for previous albums given though. :(

Does anyone know what this era's singles have sold so far? Be interesting to see.
They have at least 4k sales in the bag already this week so second week sales wont be bad at all.

How do we know this? I mean that would have been top 10 many weeks of the year
