I just like them :lol: I'm expecting mid-table myself at best but the others I haven't seen much hype around at all, I guess I just wonder why that is? I find it really difficult to judge the consensus (hence why I never actually do predictions myself) and my tastes seem to be pretty off from the majority most of the time anyway :kink:

 

LazyBaby has grown on me a lot since the semis also tho so it's not to say its hype is undeserved!

I always find it difficult to separate preferences from predictions, although I do try. But unless a song that I love clearly sounds like a nailed-on flop, I will naively always expect it to do better than others think it will if it has underwhelming odds. Usually they are right and I'm wrong :lol:

 

I do see this happen a lot in others odds too though, a lot. Every month one or two posters will randomly put a song up high in their odds that doesn't follow the general consensus, and it ends up flopping or in midtable but it almost always transpires that said poster gave it one of their top marks. Suddenly then their odds for said track make more sense!

 

This works the opposite way too. Sometimes there will be just one or two sets of odds that have a predicted top five halfway down their odds. And it usually transpires that those posters simply didn't like it as they'll say something post-results like 'I don't get why that did so well'. Quite often if there's something I don't get the hype for high up in everyone else's odds, I will usually only put it high myself either just to follow the crowd, or if it's clearly had a lot of hype that makes it hard to ignore.

 

Anyway...rambling, but yes I think LazyBaby is a smash, and I'm hoping a few that Lindsay was hyping smash too as there are some great entries listed in that bunch that really deserve better than midtable obscurity, or worse.

Hushky sounds like a definitive Top 10 pop smash kind of track...I would be surprised if it ends up outside Top 10!!!

Among the pop songs that I thought stood out as being better, nearly none of them have been named in this last page or two, so I think that just confirms how massively out of touch I am with pop faves (it is mostly the foreign language ones - mainly Cor Lupus #overhype - that stick out to me at least relative to the others, but even just among the English language ones, where's the love for Hendinia / TARO Bellamia xx)
